  • "Our 2nd time staying at Tomeg."

We liked it so much, we just had to come back! A real home from home with everything needed for a comfortable holiday. Excellent restaurants and shops within walking distance. Close to lots of wonderful beaches.

  • "Thank you so much for a fantastic stay."

Tomeg is in a brilliant location with just a short walk to the beach and a pub and Co-op on the doorstep. The house is spacious and feels wonderfully light and airy. Access to the parking is quite tight but that had been well communicated beforehand. The house is a great base for exploring beautiful Northumberland

  • "We loved our stay in Tomeg."

The house is clean, ideally placed (The Wellwood Arms, Masons Arms, many takeaways and shops are only a short walk away) and had everything we needed for a 2 week holiday. The rooms are of a nice size and I'm not quite sure about the noise warning as this was quieter than another place we have stayed in Amble! The conservatory is a nice addition (and a good place to dry the washing / swimming stuff). The smart TV was a pleasant surprise so you can log into your streaming channels for those quiet evenings in. The only real negative about the house is actually a positive. The parking out back is (very) tight for an estate car (we have a Toyota Corolla Tourer Sport) and it does take a bit of work to get it in and out. However, this is a positive in some ways as street parking is also at a premium in Amble and I would rather have it this way than not having a guaranteed spot. Finally, all communication with the owners was answered promptly and professionally and I can not find fault in anything about the house an owners. Thank you Petra, Katherine (and Moira) for letting us stay in your lovely house.

Clean & comfortable, central to all the amenities, just what we needed. Amble is beautiful, lots to do and see. Would definitely go back and stay at this property. Owners very accommodating and helpful. It is abit tight for parking round the back of the property but I had a small car so no problems.

  • "‘Tomeg’ is a lovely holiday home."

The accommodation is more than adequate for a family. It is beautifully furnished but suitably and sensibly for a seaside holiday. It is well equipped both in the kitchen and the sitting room where the books and videos are welcome. The conservatory is a great asset for spending time in as well as drying clothes etc. The location of the house couldn’t be better for visiting various beaches and places of interest. Shops and restaurants are just round the corner. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to stay again.

  • "We enjoyed a wonderful holiday, the cottage surpassed ou expectations & was the perfect base for exploring Amble & Northumberland."

It was in easy distance of all Amble's attractions, particularly for my Father in law with limited mobility. The only tiny gripe was that my Mother in law thought the TV required updating. She apparently struggled to follow the ball whilst watching Wimbledon! Other than that, 10 out of 10.

  • "Tomeg is a lovely terraced house perfectly located for all the amenities of Amble."

The house has three bedrooms with very comfortable beds and a lovely large bathroom with a bath and separate shower cubicle. The living room could possibly do with an extra chair for the fifth guest but we managed. The kitchen was ok but I would have liked a dishwasher and tumble dryer and perhaps some small drinking glasses as there were either wine glasses or tumblers. I did have to buy a roasting tray as theirs was tiny so I’ve left it for future guests. Parking at the rear of the property was a bit of a challenge but I found driving in forwards and reversing out of the narrow path worked for me.The neighbours all parked considerately so it wasn’t a problem. Tomeg is on a main road but we didn’t have any noise problems and there’s a Co-op literally over the road. All in all we had a lovely stay in Amble which is a beautiful village that really comes alive on Sundays when the market is on. Warkworth Castle is worth a visit and is only just over a mile away from Tomeg so you can walk along the banks of the river Coquet which has amazing views. Alnwick, Bamburgh and Holy Island are all within an hours drive too. We had a great holiday and would definitely return.

  • "Very welcoming, warm, bright and spacious house in a very convenient location."

Lovely sunny garden and conservatory. The dining kitchen and conservatory is a winning feature I think. For myself, more side lights in the lounge would have been welcome, and definitely darker curtains/blinds in the back bedroom which receives morning sun. The existing ones provide no barrier at all! And while a very very firm mattress is welcome to some, the one on the double bed was excessive. I think that a removable/flexible topper might be the solution. It really was like sleeping on a hard floor. Minor quibbles though (and obviously very personal). This is a lovely house for a holiday and Amble is a very well equipped town to base oneself in.

  • "Our first sight of the cottage was nothing like the picture we saw on-line."

The house next door to Tomeg was a complete building site, both front and back. Every day the builders arrived at about 9a.m., and banging, sawing and drilling started. We couldn't let our dog in the back garden because half of the gate on the right side had been taken away to allow access to the builders. One of the additions we noticed on-line was a washing machine, this would have been a useful complement to the cottage, but the washing line had been taken away while building work carried on. Therefore the washing machine was useless to us. In our opinion we should have been made aware of the noise and dust, and we would have chosen a different site at Amble.

About the location

AMBLE

Warkworth 1 mile; Alnmouth 4 miles.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Historically a centre for boatbuilding, Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and country park at Druridge Bay. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters. There is a fish centre on the side of the harbour that is now primarily a shell fish hatchery to re-stock levels of lobster and other shell fish, this sells local fish and is open to the public. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, and the National Trust’s Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.
