Hot tub well heated and accessible. Property was clean and tidy inside. However the property in need of some TLC (we had a constant dripping tap in kitchen-not able to be repaired during our stay, despite reporting on arrival, however owner did explain reason for this). Outside of the property needs a bit of a spruce up (lots of cobwebs and general wear & tear, gutter constantly dripping over bifold doors & not able to open bifold doors as they were extremely stiff- we are use to opening them as have them at home!). Lots of dead insects/daddy long legs between shutters/windows in bedroom. Outdoor furniture cushions wet and not able to be used as cover used but not secured & no ability to store cushions inside. Extremely hot and provision of a fan/fans would have been extremely welcome in the heat as the lodge is like a greenhouse with lots of glass. Not able to access outside bins (shed locked with 2 padlocks and no keys provided). Not able to operate TVs in any bedroom & no instructions provided in information pack. Visitor information pack out of date… I.e. states property let by ‘crabtree&crabtree’ not ‘Sykes cottages’, recommends a restaurant in Bamburgh (Mizen Head Hotel) that has been shut down for well over 18 months! Hot tub operational info doesn’t relate to the hot tub in situ.

The property

Situated a short walk from Bamburgh town centre, this contemporary lodge is in an ideal location for a family.

You can enter the property via the rear door and into an open-plan fitted kitchen, dining area and sitting room, with an attractive half wall between the kitchen and living room.

The kitchen is a wonderfully modern style, with soft grey cabinets and white tiling, and houses a large table with seating for up to eight people.

The spacious living room has plenty of comfortable sofas, with a smart flatscreen TV and a cosy woodburning stove, as well as luxurious vinyl flooring.

From the living room is a large shower room, and two bedrooms: one king-size and one twin room, ideal for the children.

From the kitchen is another king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room and WC.

Off-road parking is available.

Outside has a wrap-around decking, with a large corner sofa, as well as a raised decking area with a Cedar Wood Hot Tub.

Bamburgh is an excellent location to vacation as it boasts many popular tourist spots, including Bamburgh Castle, a Grade II listed building.

Built on a dolerite outcrop, the location was previously home to a fort of the indigenous Celtic Britons known as Din Guarie and may have been the capital of the kingdom of Bernicia, the realm of the Gododdin people, from the realm's foundation in c.420 until 547.

It is steeped in history and is a magnificent sight to behold.

Also nearby is Bamburgh Beach where you can find the many restaurants, tea rooms and pubs along with boutique gift shops, an ideal day trip for all.

Restharrow Lodge is an excellent modernised lodge in the heart of Northumberland countryside.

About the location

Seahouses 3 miles; Alnwick 12 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
