  • "We really enjoyed our stay at the Hollies."

The location could not be more perfect (directly behind the Victoria Hotel), but beyond that it was well appointed, clean, and cosy. We used the open fire regularly (it was February!) and it easily accommodated the seven of us who spent four nights there (plus our dog). Ross and Ceri were attentive and thoughtful hosts and we would love to return.

  • "Very comfortable cottage with plenty of living space to accommodate 7 adults and 2 dogs (we only had 5 adults during our stay)."

Very close to all the lovely pubs and the beach. TV with access to most channels was a bonus. Front garden was very pleasant to sit in for any afternoon sun.

  • "Had a lovely week at The Hollies in August - great location, easily walkable to the beach, castle, pubs and lovely restaurants."

Enclosed garden and yard both perfect for dog/children/drying off wetsuits etc. Hope to be back. Thank you

  • "Fantastic house, really enjoyed our stay."

Truthfully a bit non-plussed by the negative reviews for this property - house was very clean, spacious & a brilliant location just off Bamburgh Front Street.

Thanks very much for your lovely review Gareth. We are really pleased you had enjoyed your stay and we would welcome you back anytime at all! Thanks again and we hope to welcome you back soon. P.S Any historical negative reviews were posted before we had taken ownership of the property , We have since fully renovated the entire house (with only a new kitchen left to install -and we are doing this in November!) Best wishes. Ross and Ceri Property Owner

  • "Fantastic location."

Close to everything. Initial issues with parking because we didn't know what bay was ours and then when we discovered we couldn't actually get in it anyways because someone else was in it. Lovely welcoming home. Clean and tidy. Someone else's laundry was in the washing machine. All bedrooms (except the double upstairs in the black metal bed are great.) They're Clean and comfy. I spent my week on the couch at night because the mattress was not good enough for 2 people. Extremely old and uncomfortable. When striped beds at the end I was horrified at how disgusting it was. I also tore a hole in my trousers because the handles on the drawers are absolutely lethal. Fantastic location for lots of beautiful little places to visit. The fridge froze all our food. So had to throw a lot away. We did try adjusting the temperature to combat but didn't seem to make any difference. Anything watermarked froze. On the whole, lovely location but work in that bedroom needs doing.

Thanks very much for taking the time to leave a review . I am sorry if our property has fallen short of your expectations in some areas of your stay (but pleased you have found it welcoming , clean , tidy and comfortable generally). As you will be able to see from the other reviews , we have nearly had all very positive feedback since we have purchased the house. We have invested a significant amount of time , money and effort to get it to a very high standard over the last nine months and are constantly improving the property. I see the main point of concern was the mattresses, which we have taken note of and are replacing for brand new as from this Friday 18th August (including the double bed). The Fridge is a strange one as we have never had an issue before and when we checked on Friday we could adjust the temperature down. We have a new Kitchen being installed in November this year and will be replacing the fridge as a matter of course anyway. We will try and use your comments constructively to continue to upgrade the Hollies”. Property Owner

Our first visit here but not for our friends, they'd been before. New bathrooms and decorated since their visit, so all new and fresh. Really warm and cozy on our arrival. Kitchen very well equipped, not short of anything. All very clean and well catered for. Fabulous stay, would definitely return.

  • "House very cold when we arrived increased thermostat from 15 to 30 but took 3 days before it was comfortable in all rooms please ensure house heating is put on before guests arrive."

Radiator in Bathroom is not working. A full log basket would be nice the fire was laid but only 2 logs in basket as it was Christmas not easy to find local supplier with stock A carton of milk would have been nice to go with the coffee and tea provided especially as shop hours not regular as was a Christmas booking However the house was lovely and well equiped.

  • "We were made very welcome and Celia was very helpful and friendly."

Everything was clean and tidy ample space and the children felt relaxed . The property was in a beautiful location. The bedrooms were lovely with comfy beds and lovely fresh sheets and bedding. Plenty of equipment in the kitchen though we mostly ate out. Nice front garden to sit or play in . Only a few minutes walk to the beach or castle . Food shopping can really only be done in Seahouses 3 miles away but there are plenty of good places to eat close by with excellent food an£ friendly service. There was always plenty of hot water available. The cottage was excellent, would definitely recommend and stay there again in the future.

Beautiful house, with character and a welcoming rambling garden frontage. We had everything we needed in the kitchen to make full breakfasts with ease every morning and delicious evening meals using local produce from the garden shop and local butcher. Lovely clean comfortable beds. Bathrooms clean...loved the bath and towels provided. The house is spacious but still cosy. Loved the open fire which we settled down beside every evening after massive walks along the amazing beaches! we loved it ....sooo friendly and cosy and hope to return.

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
