  • “Unfortunately the level of cleanliness and lack of basic amenities upon arrival leaves a lot to be desired.”

We were greeted by a used dirty tissue on the living room coffee table and all sorts of debris under the coffee table and couch. On going into the bedrooms, in the master bedroom on the floor behind the bedside table was a packet of co-codomol tablets ...which quite frankly an inquisitive young child could quite easily have got their hands ( we had two young children with us) In the other bedroom on the first floor there was another used tissue on the floor behind one of the beds, along with a comb and an unacceptable level of dust on the skirting boards. They clearly haven't been touched for months. I cleaned the skirting boards between the two beds, but draw the line at pulling both beds out and cleaning behind them. The level of dust on some of the radiators is also disgusting. We found that the light bulb in the main kitchen light did not work and nor did the one in the main bathroom. We replaced these after finding spare bulbs in the master bedroom. There are 3 toilets in this house and only liquid soap in one of them, no spare bin bags, no dishwasher tablets.....all basic things which have always been plentiful in other properties we have stayed in. I collected the above mentioned items and left in a bag for "the cleaners" upon departure along with a completed feed back form. Note, recent feedback in the visitors book is along similar lines but we wonder whether the owner is picking up on this feedback as things do not seem to be improving.

About the location

Seahouses 1.5 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
