  • "Beautiful cottage, loved the retro feel and well equipped with toys for the children."

The children loved playing in garden on swings. Playhouse is lovely too. Handy outhouse packed with extra summer items and even bikes. Cottage cosy, loved playing the oldies on vinyl. Bed linen and towels lovely and clean. Only disappointment was the oven, fridge, freezer and dishwasher were dirty, we needed to clean them before use. The oven in particular was full of old food remnants and thick grease on trays. It didn't spoil our break and will definitely return.

Dear Carol, thank you so much for your feedback. We apologise for the level of cleanliness you found in the kitchen and would like to let you and other future guests know we have just worked with Sykes to change our cleaners and that the property will now be checked by the agency (NCCC) after every clean prior to guests arrival. We are so pleased you enjoyed everything else about your stay and look forward to welcoming you back. Claire (Owner) Property Owner

  • "Was a little disappointed to have to clean the fridge and oven trays - although this may have been due to the boiler not working when we arrived and no hot water avail when cleaning team were in."

(Boiler issued resolved v speedily). A few things in the Jack & Jill bathroom need attention - shower screen doesn't fit so floor floods, fan didn't appear to work and light fitting hanging off. Overall the cottage is nice and comfy, and it was a joy to watch the lamb count rise each day in the field opposite. Its a good base for getting out and about and has some fab dog walking beaches nearby.

Dear Viv, thanks for taking the time to provide feedback. I apologise that the fridge and cooker were not up to scratch. I will follow that up with NCCC today as they provide the cleaning service for the cottage. In terms of the bathroom - the shower screen is in 2 parts (we had also not seen this before when we bought the cottage!) and there is a little bar you have to pull down to seal the screen. We will add a little sign next to bath to help people use this as intended. The extractor switch is in the bunk bedroom and may have been accidently knocked off by the cleaners when dusting. I think it sounds like one of the spot light frames also needs pushing back in. It is such I perfect location for Spring with all the sheep in the surrounding fields isn't it - we are up for Easter and looking forward to it! Property Owner

  • "Excellent, perfectly positioned cottage in a quiet private community location, yet within under 10 mins drive to wonderful Beadnell beach."

Within driving distance of 30 mins to main local attractions, great Coop at Seahouses. The 3 bedroom cottage was very well equipped with all info on hand for kitchen white goods and heating. Gardens are beautifully kept with great views. Very, very comfortable and would stay again.

  • "The location is lovely."

The cottage was disappointing as it needs a really good clean and some maintenance. The tap in the bathroom by the door needs mending and several of the interior doors are very difficult to shut or open. The en suite needs some love, its mouldy and shabby. There was dust and cobwebs and just general grubbiness which is such a shame as it is a lovely cottage and I'm sure the owner is paying someone to clean. I had to remove dust and cobwebs in the bedroom and clean the back of the loos and the back of the doors before we could hang things on them. The towel rail only worked with the heating, the electric element didn't work which was a shame because in warm weather you dont need the heating on, also there is no towel rail in the front bathroom. The listing needs to identify that there is a coffee maker and hairdryer as we packed these bulky items but arrived to find them in the cottage. Also to advise that there are more comfortable garden chairs, windbreaks for the beach and even bikes in the laundry shed. The garden is lovely but I think the listing should highlight that the walls/fences are quite low to alert dog owners. The cottage is very well equipped. One thing I would suggest is summer weight duvets would be nice. One mattress is quite firm the other rather soft and uncomfy so a topper would improve both. The dining chairs are not comfortable which would be an issue if there were 4 large-ish adults as there wouldn't be enough seating to watch tv comfortably for example. The cottage is in a superb position close to many lovely places and whilst I would return to this area I would choose a different cottage I am afraid, possibly even the adjoining cottage. This is a shame particularly as other recent guests mentioned the mattress and the cleanliness I had hoped the owner might have improved things.

Dear Stephen, thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback. I have responded to each of your points below. 1) Cleaning - the cottage has just received a deep clean and we have agreed with our agent that after every changeover clean one of their management team will perform a quality control inspection to ensure this meets the standard we require for our guests. We reacted to the cleaning feedback from our guests as soon as we could and apologise sincerely that the cottage was not up to standard for your visit. 2) Listing details - we will liaise with the agent to update the listing details on the website ASAP on the points you raised e.g. coffee maker, items in the outhouse etc. 3) Duvets - we will provide summer duvets in the cupboards going forwards for our guests so they have the choice. • "Upon our arrival at around 15."

03pm the man who was cleaning the property was just coming out and he asked if we were going in and left the key in the door for us and said he hoped we enjoyed our stay. When we got into the property, I wish I had known that there wouldn't be any toilet roll as I would have taken some with me...I had to go and buy some. The facilities were amazing it had so much stuff , from absolutely everything you could need in the kitchen to binoculars on the living room window. The bed's were comfortable as was the sofa. I was a little concerned about the low fence height in the gardens but I had seen this from the photo's of the property....I just made sure our dog's were not left unattended in the garden, as there were sheep one side and cow's the other side. Just a little bit of feedback for the owners...there was quite a lot of dust in the 2 double bedrooms and on window sills, skirting boards and low ledges in the bathroom off of the kitchen and some cobwebs....the owners are probably paying a cleaning company quite a bit to do this properly....but saying this I would still go back to garden cottage it is beautiful....the children's bedroom is fantastically equipped, there is even toy's in the living room and garden. The whole area is amazing....I had only booked the property a week before we arrived as we needed to get away after our son's funeral. I was going to leave a note in the guest book but forgot to do it ....thank you it was a break that we really enjoyed and needed.

Dear Avril, thank you so much for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback and for also flagging to us about the gaps in cleaning - we will pick this up with NCC ASAP given we are paying for this service to ensure our guests have the best stay possible Kind regards Claire Property Owner

  • "Lovely well maintained cottage and gardens."

Everything we could possibly need supplied. Only drawback was bed off left of living room could do with a new mattress or topper.

Dear Shirley, thanks for taking the time to provide feedback. We are so pleased you had everything you needed to have a lovely stay. We are heading to the cottage ourselves for a week next week so will make sure we test out that bed. The mattress is nearly new but a topper is a great idea! Thanks again. Property Owner

About the location

BEADNELL

Seahouses 1.5 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
