  • "I Ave to say our stay at Lavender Cottage Beadnell was very disappointing."

I don't expect to go on holiday to start cleaning before we could do anything. Never been hoovered or floors washed. Very dirty windows, were very dirty going into the conservatory. Lounge furniture had seen better days. No welcome pack for general instructions like when the bin men were due etc. The list could go on. Anyone going in now check the microwave as something had been spillt in it and well burnt on. I have been on touch with Sykes and the owner has deci6hes not going to reply to the issues. So good luck anyone who is not happy.

  • "Lovely cottage feel even though in a built up area, comfortable and clean with a lovely welcome pack waiting for us."

Secure garden at the back overlooking a field with two horses. Patio furniture set back from neighbouring houses so felt quite private with a lovely arched trellis and the sound of bird song every morning. Five minutes walk to the beach, a little further to the small harbour and a nice walk to Seahouses. Short driving distances to other coastal locations. Ok there are a few issues such as the door locks being temperamental and the bathroom could do with an update but this did not spoil our holiday.

  • "We had a fabulous week at Lavender Cottage."

Although the property is on a relatively modern estate it feels like a cottage inside. The decor is lovely and bright and it feels very homely. There's a nice conservatory overlooking a lovely garden area with table and chairs. The garden overlooks a field with two horses in it. We were able to sit out and have breakfast in the morning and glass of wine in the evening. The location is good as it sits in the middle so not far from the beach and village centre. We took our own towels as it states they aren't included but there were lovely big bath sheets there to use and also tea towels. The only thing that could be a problem for some is the parking is very tight especially if you had a larger car. We would definitely recommend this cottage and stay there again.

  • "Easy to find and in excellent position for pub, cafe and shop also coast just round the corner."

Great location for all other areas of the coast and inland. On arrival had to park on road as no room next to property. Limited space due to neighbour parking in there position so unsuitable for parking but car was safe on road. First impressions of the inside it smelt like sweaty shoes found it was the rug under coffee table that needs washing or replacing. The kitchen is well worn battered and drawer backs missing. Cooker hood dirty and lets in cold air through vent when windy outside. Oven handle a bit dodgy. Upstairs you can see from small bedroom the castle in the distance, and the main bedroom was nice bed comfy. Bathroom was really clean as was the rest of the property but the shower cubicle was a big let down made the area feel dirty and unkempt. Didn't want to have a shower at first thinking the grouting was dirty and the plug was well worn but it wasn't. This was a shame as the property could be so much more with a little more TLC. Loved the look of the inside with the painted wood and sliding doors. Really quiet on a night for sleeping and good heating easy to use. Also the welcome pack was great. Cath

  • "Overall the property was ok but a little tired."

On arrival it smelt musty as if it had not been occupied for some time. We found that the bed in the main bedroom was very uncomfortable as were the conservatory seating, to the point we did not sit in them. The french doors were extremely temperamental to lock and need adjustments. The rear outside light did not work. The heating took a little bit of working out and may benefit from an idiots guide. Once we worked it out it was plenty warm enough, contrary to previous reviews. There was no grill pan for the grill, no baking tray and the microwave is rusty on the inside edge. We managed with what there was, but not everyone eats out all the time, so utensils could need refreshing. We could not find a dust pan anywhere which would be useful when being asked to leave the property clean. Curtains in the living room are way too long and trail all over the floor. Positives are the welcome pack which was excellent and unexpected. Obviously the location and rear outlook is great. Another plus was there being sky, WiFi and audio. The password to the WiFi we found only by luck, as well as the instructions for the equipment. These could be bundled into a folder and left in an obvious place for customers. There are plenty of spare towels and tea towels and having access to a washer dryer was excellent. Overall we had a pleasant stay. The observations above and a little tlc would only serve to improve the experience at the property.

It was clean, comfortable and adequately equipped. Lovely enclosed garden which was perfect for the dog. Loved the location, 2 minutes walk and your at the local beach and 15 minutes walk to the beautiful Beadnell Bay beach. My only negative was the 530pm late check-in which is fine during the summer but winter time, driving on unfamiliar, unlit roads in the dark we found to be a bit harrowing.

Parking was easy, although anyone with a larger vehicle would need to park on the road (free parking and right outside the property). The cottage was very clean, the beds were comfortable and there was lots of hot water. The Wi-Fi was easy to connect to - to use Sky we had to open the door to the cupboard under the TV! We were in easy driving distance of plenty of interesting locations for visits and the local restaurants and the pub were great for food.

  • "Superb location, tastefully decorated, adequately equipped."

Lovely garden/courtyard and conservatory adds space and light. The off-road parking space is extremely tight, not helped by the border of boulders put in place by the neighbour. (I gather that selfish car parking by a previous holiday tenant has caused confrontation and the neighbour now feels the need to “defend” her own parking space.) Very tasteful decoration, but, in some places, now in need of refreshing, particularly in the bathroom. A more thorough, deeper clean wouldn’t go amiss. Grubby between furniture and walls in places. Second bedroom needs bed pulling out for a clean. Extractor in kitchen very dirty. Bathroom a little mouldy in places and dusty around skirting. The vacuum cleaner certainly needs a fresh bag as it SMELLS EXTREMELY UNPLEASANT.

The kitchen is very well equipped and the welcome pack was a lovely touch... The bed was extremely comfortable and we loved having the porch for shoes and coats and the conservatory was brilliant, could just do with a small table in there for drinks. • "Very clean and tidy."

Comfortable beds. Could benefit from a welcome pack..information wise. The name Lavender Cottage is a bit misleading as it has 2 overgrown Lavender bushes located at the rear in what can only be described as an industrial land scape. Although the property boasts off street parking it is on a shared driveway and the next door neighbour has strategically placed boulders on the drive so that you do not encroach on their part of the drive. I can forsee a problem if both residents were in attendance at the same time due to the potential of careless car door opening. Luckily for us next door was away all week. A notice of when refuse collection dates would be helpful to assist putting out the bins on behalf of the owner.

I wore 3 layers and a blanket of an evening and was still chilly. Only 1 storage heater worked properly. The other 3 gave no heat, whatever they were set to, unless we used the 1 hr boost button every hour. The power light and the call for heat was on but no heat came out. We notice that this has already been mentioned in a previous review, but not fixed. Also the shower had black mould on the hose and in the non glass bits of the cubicle. I have photos if you like. I did mention this in the feedback to the cleaners so it might be OK now.

  • "We stayed in Lavender Cottage last week and loved it!"

The cottage is perfect and as soon as we walked in, we felt it was a home from home. It had everything you could want with the facilities, including Sky TV, which came in very useful with the poor weather we had. Plenty of towels, tea towels, utensils, kitchen cleaning equipment etc and we didn't need to use anything that we had taken to clean the property, as it was very clean. The garden is fully enclosed and our pooch loved it. The horses in the field even came to say hello every morning. It is in a perfect position to go up or down the coast to the beautiful beaches that this area has to offer. There is a small local shop if you forget anything and a Co-Op in Seahouses which is 5 minutes away. A good local pub and cafe is a 2 minutes walk, and the local beach is 5, if you go to the left of the shop. We preferred the beach further along to the right, which is about 15 minutes walk. Someone commented on a review about not knowing when the bins go out-just ask a neighbour. The owner is easy to contact and help you should you need it. Would we go back...in a heartbeat!

Very poorly equipped especially in the kitchen and cleaning utensils. If we knew we could have brought things. Bathroom very dated, with a wobbly toilet handle and a room door that can be difficult to open. Parking is not as advertised as there is no drive and no where but on street parking available. Could do with a lick of paint everywhere inside and outside. Overall attention to detail is below what you can see in the listing photos which is such a shame. A few pounds spent on the property would make this an excellent cottage. Just such a shame.

The cottage could benefit from some welcome information such as how to turn on the TV (4 remotes may be daunting for some people). Also information on where to find the switch to turn on the oven which is hidden behind the microwave. Would have also been lovely to have to some local information about the short cut to the beach and the park down the road, village store opening times, what days are bin days etc Cleanliness could be improved as rugs downstairs and in the bedroom had a lot of dog hair on them and the bathroom has quite a lot of black mould. Also felt like a lot of the cleaning was down to the previous occupants ( coffee cups were dirty inside when we arrived and there is no dishwasher) which in Covid times was a bit unnerving. Both beds could do with some care as they do squeak a lot when you turn over and the single bedroom could do with black out curtains or a blind. Main bed also felt very small for 2 people

We arrived with the lavender in full bloom (perfect!). It’s well placed in a quiet residential area, no more than 5 minutes walk to the beach and you can hear the sea at night. It has all the amenities we needed for a weeks stay, we felt at home the minute we walked in the door. Beadnell is lovely, two great pubs, a very good local shop and the harbour beach is sandy and like many Northumberland beaches it goes on forever. About the location

BEADNELL

Seahouses 1.5 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
