It has a great dog proof garden. Very comfy beds, a great TV and a well laid out kitchen. Bad points, toilet kept backing up so trouble with the drains, the owner does have a notice about not using wipes(we never do)so must of been previous holiday makers. Couldn't hand wet washing inside as the clothes airer was broken

..Hearing Dogs for the Deaf in training. Being able to take 2 dogs was fantastic for us and them. Brilliant secure garden and a short walk to beautiful beaches. The bus service is excellent and allows you to walk point to point for only £2! Megstone is very clean and well equipped and we loved the Christmas tree..thank you for that, a nice touch. The owner obviously cares about the property and her customer's experience and responded immediately to a question we had. "The Landing' at the Harbour is great after a long beach walk for great food and coffee. We have stayed at Beadnell many times and Megstone is definitely somewhere we would like to stay again. We would recommend Megstone to our family and friends for sure. A little gem in a stunning location. Thanks again from Waffle and Wilma..

Only 5 min walk to beach and pubs, Clean and comfortable. This is our 2nd time we have stayed here and we have enjoyed our holiday both times. Just one thing went wrong and that was the hot water went off two days before the end of the holiday so we used the kettle for washing a few pots and shower to fill the bathroom sink for morning and night time washes. We seem to remember this happening the last time we stayed. But it did not spoil our stay.

We managed to fit in trips to the beach as well as exploring the area. The kids loved both rockpooling and fossil hunting as well as splashing in the sea and of course building sandcastles. On top of that they loved exploring the many castles in the area and taking a boat trip to The Farne Islands and driving over to Lindisfarne and back before the sea cut the island off. The home itself was a real home from home with so much provided for us and so on the one really wet day we had they didn't mind staying inside. Overall we had a great time and look forward to returning as soon as we can

Plenty of room for us (two adults and to kids aged 4 and 7). Both the owners and Sykes Cottages were friendly and accommodating. The washing machine in the garage was an absolute necessity with two young mucky children! Wi-fi was very useful too as signal in Beadnell is iffy and we needed to keep in touch with family in Sheffield. I would highly recommend.

2: had to phone owner to get a oven tray so we could cook chicken etc, wasn't any. 3: settes very uncomfortable and the springs had gone in one of them. 4: windows throughout the bungalow filthy also the the frames and guttering around the bungalow. 5: dust in many places especially on the hood of the extractor. 6: bathroom has a musty smell and the flooring lifted up when mopped, shower power not very good. One of the cheapest toilet seats ever that we've had to use. 7: the iron leaks. 8: the freezer needs defrosting and the top drawer is catching due to ice build up, light in fridge not working. 9: NO FANS, the place is very warm and with the hot days worse. 10: back garden, had to sweep patio area as it had not been tidied up/ garden had not been mowed and was a good 5-6" long when we left - made picking the dogs toileting up difficult. For the £900+ i paid for the week - we wasn't happy and expected alot better cleanliness and comfort to sit on. Ps please feel free to ask the owners to offer a goodwill gesture part refund (£200).

However the Shower (which had been mentioned previously by other guests) was either scalding or cold and could not be used. The property had had a light surface clean only, the floor in the living area, kitchen and bathroom had to be cleaned when we arrived which we do not expect to have to do. Cobwebs in most rooms, widow sills inside & outside not cleaned. Patio furniture also had to be cleaned before use (again not what we expect when having paid that amount). The owners were even there when we arrived. Bed was nice and comfortable & clean. Location great and local amenities good. It is a pity because this property could be absolutely perfect but with a bit more attention to detail.

About the location

BEADNELL

Seahouses 1.5 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
