  • "Only issue was that the lounge was a little dark and only a very small table lamp apart from the main lights was available."

Suggest that as a plug is available at the dining table end perhaps a floor standing lamp might be considered just to make it a bit cosier rather than having to switch main lights on when eating etc. Apart from that the cottage was lovely and the owner had thought of everything that you could need for a comfortable stay. Alfie, our pooch, would like to say thank you for his doggie treats. Luv'd em !!!!

Thank you for the great feedback. I’m pleased Alfie enjoyed the treats. I will start looking around for a floor standing lamp , sounds like a good idea . Property Owner

A bit noisy from the television through the wall at the weekend. Bed comfy but wardrobe space a bit small. Also no vaping and that was not stated in listing and I would like to know why ???

Sorry you found the wardrobe space a bit limited , but there isn’t a lot we can do about it with it being a small room . As for the no vaping I will ask Sykes to update the listing. We don’t allow vaping as the smell can permeate the soft furnishings and be difficult to get rid of in the changeover period. There is also the fire risk element with the rechargeable vapes . The sitting room/dining area was spacious which compensated for the rather cramped bedroom. Very well situated for the local beach, shop and variety of restaurants, plus we found the local buses ideal for getting along the coast so we didn't need our car during our stay which was parked safely in a designated parking space near the property. The front garden was an ideal sunny spot to relax in.

Thank you for your feedback. Sorry you found the bed uncomfortable. I’ve had recent feedback saying how comfortable it was. It’s a difficult one to please everyone with mattresses as guests have different preferences. Also not sure why I was marked down on cleanliness? The cottage always gets complimented on how clean it is. Glad you enjoyed the location. Property Owner

With contractors starting work at 8am every morning it made sitting outside impossible. My wife is asmatic so all the dust around was not helping, not the relaxing holiday we were looking for. We saw the owner at checkout who was aware of the building work but all she said was that she didn't think it was starting until winter. Not a good experience.

It also had a large walk in shower as opposed to a bath which was convenient for me. The little extras were appreciated ie jams, biscuits, dog treats/ball and cleaning products were useful too. Great base to explore the Northumberland Coastline. Close to lovely beaches, a well stocked local shop and nice places to eat and drink in Beadnell village. Lovely relaxing stay, just what was needed. Thank you.

It was very clean on our arrival although there was a faint smell of dogs. The facilities were excellent and we didn't want for anything. Some people have commented on the compactness of the bedroom. Yes, it is on the small side but we are both in our mid-60s and we managed quite adequately. The shower was a bit on the slow side but again it wasn't a problem. We had plenty of hot water and the heating soon warmed the bungalow up. All in all, great accommodation in a great location. We had some lovely walks along the coast to Seahouses and Bamburgh is worth a visit too especially when the cricket is on! We can highly recommend The Craster Arms in Beadnell for a good hearty meal at a reasonable price.

The cottage was clean and nicely set out. The problem was the bedroom. It was small with most of the room taken by the bed. My husband struggles with his mobility and just couldn't manage in the bedroom. Also the amenities in the village were a walk away too far. It was just a struggle and we therefore decided to return home on 29 August. If you have good mobility the cottage is fine. Though extra lighting in the lounge is needed.

About the location

BEADNELL

Seahouses 1.5 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
