  • "A holiday home from home with everything our family needed for a week’s stay."

Great location to explore the Northumberland coast and fabulous beach within a short walk of the accommodation. We hope to return soon

  • "We’ve just had a great week staying at Sea Gem."

The property is homely and is much bigger than it looks on the pictures. Peaceful location and only a couple of minutes walk to the beach. The owner left us some delicious welcome treats for us and our dog which were much appreciated! The only improvement I can suggest would be a mop & bucket and a couple of extra baking trays, however that wouldn’t stop us booking again and we look forward to hopefully returning soon.

  • "Sea gem is excellent, lovely cosy, comfortable house myself and my family spent two nights for a short getaway and thoroughly enjoyed it."

The owner of the house was particularly helpful when we had forgotten take a chair for our youngest son she sourced one and it was delivered following day. Would love to return sometime.

  • "We enjoyed our holiday very much in a comfortable, cosy and well equipped house in a quiet cul-de-sac."

The pre-set hours of heating were fine but the boost setting was very useful for our stay in January 2022 (some chilly days) but the house retains heat very well. The kitchen was short of a set of oven gloves (unless they were very well hidden) and a pyrex glass jug would have been very useful. A pre breakfast walk to the beach every morning was a nice habit to get into.

  • "Sea Gem was perfect for our stay."

It had everything we needed and was in a great location. Great communication from both Sykes Cottages and the owner. Lovely welcome with a box of chocolates and a bottle of fizz to help us into the new year! Highly recommend.

  • "Sea Gem was a lovely holiday rental and would definitely book again."

Would have been good to have a few more kitchen utensils, measuring jug, baking trays for the oven, maybe a few more plates and dishes. We like to self cater and with the 4 of us meant frequently washing dishes. Otherwise absolutely loved the place and would recommend. The welcome goodies was a nice surprise even the treats for our dog.

  • "Wonderful location for walkers."

..we walked parts of Northumberland coastal path and St Cuthberts way. Location is in easy reach of The Cheviot and Cheviot Hill. All beautiful and magnificent scenery. Accommodation itself faultless.

Toilet cistern in main bathroom was constantly running which was noisy.

  • "Everything was better than I'd hoped for at Sea Gem."

The only problem about the holiday was parking in Seahouses was difficult for shopping. The Coop did run out of some food stuffs. I had tried to get a delivery from Tesco but thought that supermarket was too far away. However I did see Tesco delivering in Beadnell so it would have been helpful to have that information prior to the holiday. Also the 3.30 hour journey home took nearly 6 hours due to very heavy traffic. Not your fault just the fact that the pandemic has meant everyone seeking holidays in UK.

Very well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Bed was comfy and the property itself was presented just as the photos. Would recommend this property in beautiful Beadnell. The beach is not far away and the resort itself was lovely and clean. The lovely touch of the welcome pack went down very well after a long journey to get there. Thanks for a lovely stay.

  • "Sea gem is a wonderful house, with the beautiful beach at Beadnell Bay just 10mins walk away."

The house itself has a lovely seaside theme in all of the rooms, plus comfy couches in the lounge area. The kitchen is very well equipped and beyond that double doors lead to a private garden (which is a real suntrap) to enjoy. Lastly the bed was super comfy so all in all we hope to be returning next year. There was just a couple of very small issues, two of the gas rings on the hob didn’t work properly and a couple of the toilet seats could do with tightnening up, they kept slipping when sat on! Not really a problem caused a bit of a smile really!

  • "Sea Gem was lovely and clean with very comfortable beds and good facilities."

It was just a few minutes walk to a wonderful beach where you could walk for miles along the sands. The enclosed rear courtyard was a sun trap in the afternoons and safe for our dog to wander in and out. It would benefit from a couple of tubs of geraniums etc for a bit more colour. A few casserole dishes and a bucket and mop would be useful, but didn’t detract from having a good holiday.

About the location

Seahouses 1.5 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
