  • "A lovely little cottage, just what we needed for our basic needs however the bedroom was rather "claustrophobic" there being not much room with a double bed in it."

However we would come back. It is ideally located for exploring the Northumberland countryside and coast.

Outside secure area suitable for our small dog. Disappointed with the standard of the inside compared to previous accommodation we have booked with Sykes. Shabby overall in our opinion this needs a complete over haul to justify the cost.

  • "The mattress was soft & well worn leading to us both having bad backs by the end of the holiday."

The bedroom is tiny - you have to squeeze up the side of the bed. Water pressure was very poor. Do not believe this accommodation was worth the £666 we paid for it

2 good pubs in the village both dog friendly and both serve excellent food. Beautiful beaches all dog friendly. Perfect place for a relaxing UK holiday.

  • "Disappointed with the size of the bedroom, hardly any room to move around the bed."

The bungalow is small & could do with modernisation & redecoration, especially the bedroom & bathroom. The bathroom needs a deep clean especially during this Covid 19 pandemic!. There was dust along the skirting boards and the toilet roll holder, & marks on the tiles especially around the mirror. There were also beard trimmings at the back of the washbasin! I wouldn't recommend the property to anyone.

  • "Lovely bungalow with everything you would need."

Really close to the beach and a short walk to the local shop. Ten minute drive into Seahouses. Bungalow was relatively clean, the laminate floors throughout could have done with a better clean, my socks were filthy even after being there only one day. The bed is not the comfiest, it creaks and hits the bedside table every time you turn over, but it is only a very small bedroom so there isn't much room. Overall a pleasant stay and the neighbors were more than helpful.

  • "We felt the property had not been cleaned properly, found cobwebs still hanging."

The cooker is not in full working order, the grill could not be used. Although the shower was lovely and hot, it needs to be more powerful, it is not in the correct position for the spray to reach out but this may be due to the lack of power. Overall it was comfortable, but the settee did not make in to a spare bed which we thought it was advertised as such. Nice quiet area and we enjoyed our week.

Thank you for your comments following your recent stay at the cottage. We have checked the top oven/grill and it is in perfect working order. The shower head can be positioned to suit individual requirements by heightening or lowering and changing the angle of the head. It is an electric shower and therefore not as powerful as a power shower. There is no mention in the cottage description that there is a sofa bed, it is for two persons with a double bed in the bedroom. Property Owner

  • "It's what you would expect for the cost of the weeks stay."

if the weather got any colder I doubt if storage heaters would keep the place warm enough.

We are sorry that you considered the heating in the cottage inadequate. There are five storage heaters in this one bedroom cottage (most similar cottages have 2-3 heaters) and they certainly provide sufficient heat at the coldest time of year when they are all in operation. Property Owner

Walking distance to beaches, shops and pubs or just a 5 minute drive from the local town. If you're wanting to explore Northumberland you couldn't pick a better place.

  • "This is a cosy retreat in beautiful beadnell, clean with a good garden for dogs."

Very friendly neighbours on hand to help with any questions etc. Only one minor issue (which would not stop me booking again) was no welcome pack at all. I have stayed in many cottages and they have all left them, hence this time I didn't go prepared and had to run to the shop upon arriving.

  • "Beadnell and all of Northumberland coast is unbeatable for a holiday and the weather has been invariably good for us."

Everybody very friendly (it seems like having at least one dog is obligatory in the area) and Fran and her husband were extremely helpful, without being intrusive. Cottage had everything you could need - except perhaps a perforated serving spoon and a fish slice, but appreciate that other people may rarely "eat in". Kitchen spotless. Pubs in village look lovely and do breakfast. Local shop had a wide range of goods. Bedroom a bit snug, but bed comfy and we were warm. Perhaps a bit of a blitz on the uPVC over the winter (?) All in all, absolutely loved it.

  • "It was better than we expected because after we booked ( at short notice last minute decision ), l read some of the reviews and was really quite worried."

The bedroom l have to say is fairly small but we had enough space each side to get into bed we didn't have to climb over each other !! as was suggested in the review. The cottage was clean and Fran next door was very helpful. It is in a great spot less than 10 mins from the beach and the harbour .

  • "The cottage was very clean but lacked that "homeliness" feeling."

It also lacked a few basic cooking utensils,e.g:a couple of baking trays,non-stick frying pan.the bedroom could have had a tv too.the keycode was difficult to do,taking several attempts to obtain the key.

The owner thanks you for your comments and suggestions for improvements you felt could be made to Snugglers Cove. They advised that there are two baking trays in the bottom of the oven, and they will be purchasing further baking dishes of differing sizes and a new non stick frying pan as per your suggestion. They have not previously had an issue with the key safe and no other guests have advised of having difficulty accessing the keys but they will look into it. Thanks again. Property Owner

  • "Beadnell is a lovely place to visit & we had a great holiday."

The rental was ok though was in need of refresh & thorough clean. It had a good sized fenced patio & decking area which meant our dog was able to go outside without a lead. The key contact person Fran was lovely, very friendly & informative about the nearby facilities. We would not book this property again due to the bed being against the wall & requiring one of us to climb out over the bottom frame in order not to disturb the other one while they slept. The bed itself was not sturdy with the mattress 'sagging' when slept on & we rolled into the middle (we are not 'big' overweight people!).

  • "We felt the cottage was rather overpriced for what we got in comparison to those around us, and what we have had from Sykes before."

It was rather tired in décor and really needs a deep clean , very dusty corners and condensation damp in the bedroom etc. The bedroom was very small and needed one person to climb over the other to get in and out, and no way could two people get changed in the room at the same time. The kitchen was adequate but some utensils were missing. WiFi was good but the Tv was small in comparison to what is available. The outside was very basic … two plastic chairs and a plastic table, small bench. the tiny sink in the bathroom is useless for face washing or shaving. Sorry to say on this occasion we were disappointed.

Thank you for your comments, we are sorry that you were disappointed with your stay in Snugglers Cove. As reflected in the photographs it is a small cosy cottage for two which is re-decorated at the beginning of every season. It has been a successful holiday home for many years with guests regularly returning the following year. We have not been made aware of any utensils being missing - we always strive to provide everything to make guests stay as comfortable as possible, we will certainly look into this. Property Owner

About the location

Seahouses 1.5 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
