  • "We had a brilliant week in Tally Ho."

The place was beautiful and had everything you could need for a stay. The owners have thought really carefully about making it perfect for a short stay. The area was really quiet and perfect for a week of relaxation and quality time together. The dog LOVED being so close to the beach for walks. Parking was really easy and only a short walk to the beach and nearby pubs and cafe.

Very clean and well equipped the cottage could have had the heating on a bit longer before we arrived as took a couple of hours to get it up to a decent temperature

  • "The cleanliness of this property was a major yet down."

Had to clean on arrival, and ate on most nights to avoid cooking in the kitchen. Would not return unless I could be sure that this has improved. Shame as the property itself is very comfortable, and in a great location both for trips in the car and walking distance! We enjoyed the big TV in the evenings as lots of properties do not have these.

  • "We loved the position of this holiday cottage in the heart of the village of Beadnell and within walking distance to local cafes and the beautiful beach."

The size is perfect for 2 people. Cottage comfortable and cosy and a welcome hamper which is a lovely touch. Bedroom a bit cramped but bed very comfortable. Couple of little grumbles: Ice box in fridge needs deicing, light pull in bathroom needs renewing and the outside letterbox is stuffed full of post which is no concern of ours but might be relevant to owner.

Nice modern interior with all the necessary facilities. Ideal enclosed garden. Cottage is located in a modern but quiet estate with a local shop, cafe and a couple of pubs within walking distance. Would suggest you buy a parking permit and a disk for the week if you plan on sightseeing.

Although overall the bungalow was clean and tidy the base of the bin in the bathroom was dirty with dust and dirt. There was also a red streak on the toilet seat. That said we were very impressed so much so that we are considering booking Tally Ho for the same week next year.

  • "Tally Ho Overview : Clean and well decorated property We felt safe re Covid Comfortable seating Good firm bed and pillows very supportive Sufficient wardrobe space in cabinets mounted alongside the bed though be careful not to bump your head on them during the night The property has some sanitiser but obviously take your own Excellent support from Clare the owner - nothing was a bother Very friendly locals too who are keen to help or simply say hello ."

After day two we felt we were part of the village TIP Keep what Sykes send you which is mainly general advice /requirements to all properties and what the owners send separate - just follow what Clare and Paul tell you to avoid confusion Worth knowing : Property Tassimo machine welcome and is very high spec that actually makes hot coffee (this is rare among Tassimos!) Kitchen is well equipped though you will need vinegar and pepper There are at least USB sockets as part with power sockets – four in the bedroom and two in the kitchen with a handy shelf above High standard kitchen accessories– e.g. kettle and toaster For games the property has boules and a Scrabble set A coffee table would have been nice as the only table space is really the integrated breakfast bar TIP Glass needs to be disposed of in the Harbour car park so keep a carrier bag for this Worth knowing : basic Accessibility Property all open plan and head floored so easy to move around Samsung TV has easily settable subtitles as standard The porch has sufficient space to take a 4 wheeled manual (NOT power scooter ) walker folded TIP walk out back of estate ( turn right then right again and walk up a cut at the end of the road on left hand side ) which gets you to a seat overlooking the sea in 6 minutes – useful for people with limited mobility The seats in the house and garden are low so if you have problems getting up out of chairs or any back problems this is probably not the property for you Worth knowing : Location The property simply couldn’t be better located for local amenities Turn left at the junction with Meadow Lane and its 250 metres to 1 the village pub café and Hotel – all excellent and all within a charming 60 metres triangle alongside the Church Craster Arms currently ( August 2021 ) runs bar service till 5 then table service The hotel is table service all day I believe All eating places are getting very busy and you need to book at least a day in advance The village looks beautiful early evening as the sun starts to set so always carry a camera 2 Turning right at the junction with Meadow Lane c 200 metres to A Fish and chip van which Friday – to Sunday The Village Shop which is quite upmarket and maintaining a very safe four maximum in the shop and mask at all times Local bus stop - moved from the Haven to Harbour Road literally 30 metres away From a public transport of view the X 18 will get you anywhere on the coast very cheaply and for a long semi-rural route pretty punctual . You can buy an explorer ticket for the whole of North Northumberland for three days for a mere £15. It is therefore worth stressing this property is as much useful for public transport users as drivers TIP Walk to Seahouses along the coast is lovely just over two miles The harbour is about 800 – 900 metres away and is superb – clean relatively unspoilt beach

  • "Lovely little cottage, well equipped and comfortable."

Big spoiler was the cleanliness. Crumbs on kitchen floor, I wrote my initials in the dust on the extractor, top 2 food plates on the pile of plates dirty and lots of dog hair on rug and entrance mat in porch. Lost confidence very quickly in the cleanliness of the whole kitchen and spent the first hour of my stay washing all plates, cups and cutlery, wiping kitchen surfaces and sweeping kitchen floor. My husband tried to vac rug and entrance mat but the vacuum cleaner in the property was totally useless! If the owners of the property are prepared to allow dogs to stay then a good vac is essential, as is a good cleaner.

About the location

BEADNELL

Seahouses 1.5 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

This attractive and peaceful harbour village is situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland’s Heritage Coastline - Beadnell Bay. Established in Saxon times, Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a smuggler's haven. Nowadays, it is still a fishing village, but is equally popular with holidaymakers who come to enjoy its pretty harbour and, of course, the nearby sandy beaches. The village has a shop, two pubs and a café serving food. Popular Seahouses is just over a mile away and has shops, a supermarket and restaurants, and it also offers boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands - a haven for bird watchers. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its Castle and Gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is a short drive away.
