"Aidan apartment is a great place to stay"
"Steven was a nice helpful chap & the accommodation was adequate for our needs & our stay."
"Have stayed at the Aiden apartment 4 or 5 times now and love it."
Perfect base for exploring the area. Will always come back. It's a cosy little cottage with a pub and shop/garage either side so it's ideal. And Stephen the owner is such a nice friendly person, always welcoming and on hand if you need anything. 10/10 for me.
"Me and my baby girl stayed here and it was just beautiful."
The cottage was so homey and in perfect location for tourist attraction especially Holy island. Stephan was so kind and helpful to. Would definitely go back again and recommend any one to stay here my favourite part was the spiral stairs up to the level bedroom.
"Well situated, near A1, holy island road, shop and pub/restaurant."
Easy access to scenic route to Bamburgh, Berwick and many other places of interest.
"What a lovely little cottage!"
I am very familiar with this area of Northumberland and so Aidan Apartment was the perfect base for us to explore. We arrived at 3pm for check in where we met Stephen. Stephen was a really friendly chap who gave us a brief run-through of the cottage and the local amenities and then left us to it. The cottage is just off the A1 on a side road, but we weren't at all disturbed by traffic. There are lorries and cars that sometimes park up on the road outside but this never affected access to the property. There is off road parking with one space per cottage. The apartment was perfect for us two. We liked the quirky mezzanine staircase, although it definitely wouldn't be suitable for the elderly or those with mobility issues. We finally got the hang of it after a couple of runs up and down! The bed was so comfy and the bedroom area itself is quite spacious. We were well rested throughout our stay. The bathroom is downstairs which to be honest worked out well. The shower was always warm and quite powerful. There isn't a lot of room to manoeuvre in the cubicle itself, but this isn't a problem as you have a shower caddy accessible at upper body level. Toilet worked fine. We often cooked at home and found the oven and the hob easy to operate and cooked food well. There is a Beko fridge with ample space for 3/4 meals with some drinks, eggs and stuff in the veg tray. There is also a little freezer compartment at the top. There is also plenty of crockery and cutlery for our use. There is the Lindisfarne Inn on the corner which was a lovely little pub with tasty food. We frequented the Esso garage for supplies and found it to be reasonably well stocked at fair prices. Please note the cottage doesn't have WiFi and mobile signal can be a little patchy. However, this didn't bother us and honestly preferred being somewhat detached from the online world! There are TV both downstairs and upstairs with Freeview, so we had enough channels to choose from. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and we would love to return in 2023 when we have some more annual leave! For us the location and the quality of the apartment was perfect - we were after somewhere homely with all the necessities and this cottage ticked all the boxes.
"A cosy wee neuk for exploring the east borders region."
Close to many well known ancient sites and of course the isle. Walking the Pilgrim Way over the sand barefoot is highly recommended.
"A lovely cozy space with plenty of room for two."
Great hosts. Perfect location for North Northumberland, the borders & the east coast of Scotland. My favourite areas.Very close to the A1 but didn't affect my sleep or stay. Not that noticeable at all.Stair case to mezanine level wouldn't suit everybody but wasn't a problem for myself.Very good price for our 4 night stay, stunning weather & a great base to enjoy this wonderful part of the world from. Will definitely stay there again.
"Property was clean and tidy and had everything that we needed, but could not ..."
Property was clean and tidy and had everything that we needed, but could not recommend to everybody due to the spiral staircase up to the mezannine bedroom which could be a problem to some people
"Very helpful owner."
"Met by Stephen Fidler on arrival, very welcoming and likable."
The stay at Aidan apartment was very nice, a good base and a stones throw from Holy Island. The facilities and cleanliness was very good. The only downside is its a shame its not a 100 yards further away from main road ( A1 ).
"We had a nice weekend Break small Apartment but very comfortable the owner Mr fidler was there to meet you on arrival showed you around explained were to eat out and nearest supermarket was very nice man not intrusive left you to get on with it yes we would go back in the future nice to visit holy Ireland and other places ."
Sykes cottages do warn you there is a steep spiral staircase also thank-you Sykes cottages .
"Great place to stay."
Close to holy island and Berwick centre. Cosy little place and situated next to a great pub with nice staff. Only thing to say is that Aidan cottage I think has the wrong photos attached and maybe for the cottage next door. Similar but slightly different although still enjoyable and would recommend.
"Lovely little cottage."
Perfect base to visit Holy Island, the Farne Islands and all the Northumberland Coast.
"Small but comfortable."
Steep winding stairs were a challenge though.
"Lovely little cottage well placed to explore Northumberland."
A little road noise as it’s next to the A1, but not enough to disturb your holiday.
"Although close to the A1, we never heard any traffic noise whilst inside."
Very convenient for Lindisfarne and a pub restaurant, café and filling station shop very close by. With good weather during the first half of the holiday we managed to do may of things that we had hoped.
"I think that some people may be put off by the location of the cottage being so near the A1 but I can assure you that there was very little traffic disturbance whilst in the cottage."
The location does mean that you are ideally situated for the surrounding attractions. The garage has a small shop for milk, bread, papers etc and a cash machine. There are three eating places within easy walking but I would recommend the Sleep and Eat behind the cottage. The cottage is cosy and comfortable and well equipped with the basics. If desperate for WiFi for the price of a drink you can catch up with your e-mails in the Inn next door.
