  • "The Cottage was in a convenient location for visiting most of the most interesting sites."

The location was quiet though only a couple of minutes drive to the A1 and 15 minutes to the coast at Bamburgh. The enclosed rear lawned garden was great for our greyhound to mooch about. The lounge at the front of the bungalow was large and comfortable for evening relaxation. There was a good sized fridge freezer in the garage in addition to the smaller built in unit in the large dining kitchen.

The holiday home was very clean with everything you could want provided including games and entertainment for the family. The garden was dog friendly and the owners were proactive in checking we had everything we needed. Excellent quiet location for many day trips and local ammenities and we would highly recommend.

  • "A spacious bungalow with brilliant views out to sea."

Plenty of storage. The garden was completely secure for our dog. Bed was comfortable and linen clean. It was in a prime position to explore the area. A parking disc was left for Northumberland which came in handy especially for Alnwick. On the downside the bungalow was pretty dirty and in need of a lot of maintenance. On arrival the front door area was covered in cobwebs and we noticed windows were very dirty including internal glass doors which were covered in doggy nose prints! Door from kitchen to garden and another into the garage were extremely difficult to open (needed a mans strength). The kitchen and bathroom were very dirty. For example… Lots of mismatched crockery etc which needed washing. Oven gloves thick with grease and had been darned where holes had been. Table mats worn and dirty. In the bathroom the toilet seat was loose and had to be cleaned underneath before we could use it. We liked the position of the bungalow but wouldn’t go again to this property unless we knew it had been thoroughly cleaned inside.

Thank you for your feedback. The owner is disappointed to get this feedback after your recent fortnights stay, as they had contacted you on the middle Saturday to check if everything was satisfactory and whether you required a mid-stay clean, with fresh linen and towels. You declined this offer and made no mention of any concerns which could easily have rectified immediately for you. The owner has obtained new mats and oven gloves as you suggested and checked if the current guests would like them dropped off to replace the existing ones. They say that they are having a wonderful week with no concerns at all and are happy for us to wait until the next Saturday changeover. Property Owner

  • "These may be minor things but we feel we should mention them as we have not had any issues with the properties we have rented from Sykes in the past."

In the kitchen there was no measuring jug and only one saucepan out of three had a lid meaning we had to use a casserole lid which could be dangerous. The table mats and coasters were well worn with the surface peeling off some of them. In the bathroom there was only one hand towel.

  • "This is a fine property just on the edge of Belford."

Plenty of parking space. Everything you could need is provided. Very pleasant garden. Not far from great spots like Seahouses, Lindisfarne, Bamburgh Castle and Alnwick Castle. Some great eating places like The Ship Inn in Low Newton and Milan Restaurant in Wooler. There were 6 of us plus border collie Meg and we all had a great time.

  • "The cottage is set in a quiet village and has a view of Budle Bay, albeit it the distance."

It was lovely and peaceful in the back garden, a great setting to relax and play with our little dog. There is plenty of space inside and the beds are comfortable and there is lots of hanging room for clothing. The kitchen is adequately stocked but could do with a good vegetable knife and pan lids. The cottage is in a great location for sightseeing and visiting places of interest. We had a great time.

It had hand sanitiser and hand gels. Clean, fluffy towels and very comfy beds. There was even games and bits of toys for the kids, and a football table in the garage/games room which my kids loved. The location was absolutely beautiful too, and the owners are so lovely and friendly. I would book this place again in a heartbeat, highly recommended.

  • "Lack of kitchen utensils."

Drinking glasses need replacing. Mismatch of utensils, pans, glasses. Garden furniture needs resurfacing, garden has had a minimum of maintenance. On entry the property had a musty smell,as did the bathroom all the way during our stay. In today's environment it should have smelt of sanitisation. Overall the fittings and the furniture in the property were of poor quality. Basic equipment, e.g. in the shower there was nowhere to place anything. Overall there is plenty of storage space. The lounge and kitchen were roomy.

The facilities at Budle View are excellent, especially the kitchen, bedrooms and living room. The garden was private and enclosed so our little dog could play without us worrying. It was a pleasure to sit and relax in the garden after a busy day. The owners of the property left flowers and biscuits in the kitchen for our arrival which was a lovely touch and they called in during the week to ensure everything was ok. The furnishings were very traditional and comfortable. I particularly liked sitting at the big kitchen table as we were cooking and after our meals. The shower was great and the bath tub huge and I liked that the shower was separate from the bath. Two very minor negatives; there were only three teaspoons so it would be worth investing in some more, and I would suggest putting a notice on the door to the garage to highlight this is where the freezer and games room is.

About the location

BELFORD

Alnwick 15 miles; Berwick-upon-Tweed 15 miles; Bamburgh 5 miles.

The picturesque Northumberland village of Belford lies in the heart of Heritage countryside, midway between the popular walled towns of Alnwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed. The pretty coastal village of Bamburgh, with its sweeping beaches and dramatic castle, is only a short drive away. Belford itself is an old coaching village with a pleasant square and offers a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. It is ideally placed for exploring the Northumbrian Coastal Route, Cheviots, the renowned Northumberland Coastline and the Scottish Borders. The opportunity to visit the bird sanctuary or seal colony on the famous Farne Islands with boat trips running daily from nearby Seahouses, is not to be missed. Alternatively check the tide times and cross to Holy Island to visit the historic Lindisfarne Priory.
