  • "This is an ideal cottage, it has practically everything you need and was comfortable."

Parking was good too with a large car park around the back space to unload outside the cottage. The owner gives good instructions and is on hand to contact. There were many wandering birds and rabbits around the cottage and an aviary next door with some unusual bird calls. It's in a good location in Belford to access the A1 going North and South for the coast and inland towards the Cheviots. The town itself is quiet but has a handy Co-op close to the cottage. It has Pubs, Cafe, Farm Shop (with Cafe) and Fish Shop but when we needed to use them, some were closed, so check opening times! The bus service from the town is quite handy, taking you up and down the coast towards Berwick/Alnwick/Bamburgh etc. We were happy with our stay here.

  • "The cottage was exactly described and was very comfortable."

However, the listing did not mention that the cottage was in a farm, nor did it say that Bluebell Farm was a holiday park. I only found out about it being a farm when I received the email from the owner 2 days prior to my arrival, and only discovered it was a holiday park on arrival. Had I know this at the time of booking, I would not have booked.

Interior not fully equipped and only just adequate. Exterior no garden despite ad, very unkept and dirty outside, some garden seats on concrete surface overlooking a brook and bushes. car parking some distance away and roughly surfaced.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We're always receptive to constructive comments. We have tried to ensure that our interior is fully equipped for a self-catering cottage and the owner's phone number is provided in cases where the cottage does not meet requirements. We always appreciate any specific feedback regarding items that can be added to the cottage to create a home from home feeling. Our outdoor area is photographed and though it is not a grassed area we understood it to be well equipped. We will ensure that the furniture is closely inspected to ensure it is clean and to standard and we appreciate this being brought to our attention. Property Owner

  • "Lovely clean, cosy cottage with good amenities."

Loved the location which allowed us to access all the beautiful places we'd wanted to experience. On the downside, rather too many unexpected rules regarding pets greeted us on arrival. We would describe the property as 'pet fairly tolerant' rather than pet friendly. Having said this, we enjoyed the house itself and would return.

Thank you for your constructive comments. We have reviewed our pet policy and informed our agent to remove the stipulation regarding prohibiting pets upstairs . Bed throws and pet towels have been provided. We hope to see you again. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was very clean, comfortable and fully equipped for our weeks stay with 2 adults and 2 small dogs."

The whole area is very dog friendly with 2 pubs and a hotel in the village all dog friendly. The cottage has a patio overlooking a stream which is fully fenced off so again great for dogs or small children. There are a number of birds close by with dove crofts and others in pens as well as some turkeys walking freely around the site. However they don’t bother you and even our dogs came to ignore them. A previous review said the birds were noisy but apart from the occasional wolf whistle once in the cottage it was very quiet and very peaceful. Also plenty of off street parking in a private car parking area just behind the cottage. A great location and would definitely come back.

  • "A quiet and peaceful development of old farm buildings."

Well thought out , well equipped and comfortable. Within easy (walking) reach of co op, church , pubs, chip shop and launderette in an historic former coaching village. Bus stop at the top of the road takes you to Berwick upon Tweed or Newcastle and points of interest in between. Loads to do and see , as close to coast. A real find.

Thank you for your kind feedback. Please note that due to previous feedback that a hand rail has been installed on the shower (in addition to the two fitted into the bath) Thank you Property Owner

  • "There was some concern over parking."

This cottage is on the site of bluebell Farm holiday park, and at the weekend there were a number of cars from there taking up the parking spaces. It was difficult to park and other cars and vans parked made it difficult to get out.

  • "Comfortable cottage and great location near the A1."

Good access to all the local attractions. A couple of good eateries in the village, plus local Co-op store and chip shop. The downside was the local bird menagerie on the doorstep. Constant noise of wildfowl, parrots and pigeons and bird poop everywhere.

Everything you need is there and the beds are really comfortable. It's also a good base to then explore the area as it is close to Bamburgh, Alnwick and Lindisfarne to name a few places. The whole family really liked it there and we will be back again for another holiday. Recommended.

    2. Poor reception when we reached the cottage - very cold, unable to get heating on as owner apparently remotely controls ‘on’/‘off’ status!!! 3. Would not recommend for dog-owners - no garden and few walking areas nearby.

  • "The cottage is beautiful, very clean and well equipped."

The location is close to essential outlets for shopping, food and laundry. Very well positioned to explore both North and South Northumbria with the main attractions all within a half hours drive of the cottage We had everything we needed for our weeks stay in Chillingham Cottage and it is a credit to the owner. The only negative comment is the proximity to the aviary next door. The "dawn chorus" is very loud and windows had to be closed at night to try and avoid being woken up at 05:30 each morning.

The stream out back is a lovely feature. It is worth noting that the complex has a lot of birds! Chickens, parrots, geese etc- which is lovely to see but not so much when they wake you up at 5am! We enjoyed our stay but the early morning wake up calls not so much.

The bed was particularly comfortable. The bottle of Prosecco was a nice extra touch too. The Cottages’s location in Belford is ideal for visiting the many sights on offer and the proximity of a good Co op shop was an added bonus. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage.

  • "We were the 1st to stay at Chillingham after lockdown and we were so glad that we decided to choose a cottage rather than a caravan; We have been to Northumberland a number of times before but always on campsites, as we don't use any of the facilities and just like to get out and about this suited us much better."

The cottage is so cosy and had everything we needed for a great holiday, we loved having the wood burner as the nights were still very chilly. The Co-op is 2 minutes walk and the chippy the same distance for those evenings you want to treat yourself. It was great to have somewhere we could really relax at the end of the day and it's lovely to have the stream right behind the cottage with seating to have a nice drink, it gets the sun right until late evening. It has a real farm feel to it with the ducks, geese, turkey and various other birds and our son loved watching them. Belford is ideally situated for everything you want to see and has a couple of playgrounds, a nice farm shop and a couple of pubs, unfortunately we didn't get to experience these due to restrictions only just being lifted. All in all a fantastic stay, we would definitely choose this in future as it has everything we need in an accommodation.

No garden, but a small yard with a picnic table, next to the stream. Plenty of parking nearby. Good WIFI/Internet. Bathroom has bath but no real shower, which was was the only thing we at all missed. Interesting collection of fowl (muscovy ducks, turkeys, etc.) plus rabbits wandering around outside, which we enjoyed. Belford itself is a very good base for North Northumberland - large enough to have a good supermarket (within easy walking distance of the cottage) and a few places to eat and drink, but not large enough to be noisy, and only a couple of minutes drive from the A1. All in all, a very good stay.
