  • "My stay was very relaxing."

It was ideal for what I needed. Everyone I spoke to was very genuine and friendly. Wonderful ambience. And thank you for the arrival treats, much appreciated after a long drive. I was being lazy and didn’t cook but everything was available if I’d wanted to. Really appreciated the space and ability to give the dogs comfort walks so close to the accommodation. And the availability of a hoover to clean up before leaving. The ONLY thing that could have improved the property for me and my specific circumstances would have been a safety gate at the bottom of the stairs to make sure the dogs couldn’t go upstairs….BUT that’s just me wanting an easy life and having dogs who ‘forget’ the rules!!

Thank you for your very pleasing comments and are very grateful for you taking time to do so. Your comment regarding the safety gate is a fair and reasonable request, even for peace and quiet from your dogs !! We have provided safety gates in the past for the safety of children. However we found that they were not being used. When they were being used they were causing so much damage to the walls and bannisters of the property we decided to remove them. Since their removal we don't seem to have any requests for the use of one. Any guests with small children generally seem to bring there own devices or have the ability to control access. Kind regards Property Owner

  • "The cottage was very pretty, comfortable and clean butthe description says "shared gardens in 26 acre grounds" which lead us to believe there would be plenty of opportunity to excercise our dog however there was only access to the shared garden and dogs had to be kept on a lead !"

so why mention the 26 acres?

Thank you for your feed back. The garden is shared with other cottages. We request that dogs are kept on a lead in the garden to control fouling and for the benefit of other guests and their children, without pets, who may not be dog friendly. We have a working livery and stables facility, with fields, housing 24 horses, that takes up much of the 26 acres. However there is a path that can be walked to our top fields where guests can be allowed access to certain fields, that are not occupied by horses at certain times of the year. We could have allowed you to walk your dog in this area if you had asked the question. However your dog would still have to be kept under control on a lead, for yours and their safety, due to the movement of horses, electric fences and our farming neighbours with livestock, which is normal practice for dog owners in any rural environment. We do also allow controlled access to our stables area, bring a bag of carrots !! Kind regards Paul & Jane Property Owner

  • "Jane was very welcoming, and the biscuits and wine were a lovely touch."

The cottage is lovely, bijou and cosy, and ideally situated for visiting different parts of Northumberland with ease. The departure instructions were straightforward and clear, which is more than can be said for many properties these days with huge lists of tasks to complete. My only suggestion is to make departure time 11:00am, since arrival time is quite late but that didn't impact our enjoyment of the setting and the cottage.

Thank you very much for your encouraging and kind feedback. The departure time of 10am and arrival of 4pm, is to allow us enough of a window to clean cottages, windows, change bedding, empty dustbins, clean outside areas and carry out any unforeseen repairs that may be required etc, especially when we may have all four cottages changing on the same day. Changeovers can also be impacted by COVID which is still an issue for some, therefore it takes extra time to sanitise and deep cleaning as much as we can, for those customers arriving.
