  • "We have just got back from a weeks stay."

    The owner met us at the secure parking gate to show us up to the apartment. He was very friendly and helpful. The apartment was spotlessly clean, very spacious and comfortable, with everything you could need. The views over the Tweed and out to sea were stunning, we spent many hours watching! It’s under a ten minute walk to Berwick centre and from there you can get on the train to lots of places and the bus seems to have a good network. We left our car at the apartment and used public transport to Edinburgh and Alnwick. It’s the perfect base to explore the stunning coastline with many places a short drive away. Berwick is also a beautiful town to explore (would recommend a walk of the walls) and has plenty of shops and eateries (some right on the doorstep!) so you have everything to hand if you don’t want to travel far. The host text a couple of times during our stay to check we were enjoying ourselves, which was considerate of him and appreciated by us. We wouldn’t hesitate to go back and highly recommend.

  • "This was our second stay in this beautiful spacious apartment and we already have it booked again for next year."

    It has everything you could possibly want while on holiday, a great shower, comfy bed, own private parking and fantastic views. The owner Graham is lovely and he gives you plenty of information about the local area. It's great that it has a lift with it being on the 2nd floor. Its location is perfect as you can walk into Berwick and also into Spittal. All the places on this coast are beautiful to visit. Lots to see and do in the area, the boat trips from Berwick are great and leave from the end of the old bridge. Also Chillingham Castle is an amazing place to visit. Just a PERFECT apartment.

  • "Fantastic flat in a brilliant location, close to the town centre(10 min walk) over the old bridge."

    Graham is a welcoming host and knowledgeable regarding the local area and events. The flat is pristine with a superb view overlooking the harbour so good I read 4 books sitting in a comfy chair watching the changing skies and the coming and going in the harbour and estuary. Everything about the flat is comfortable and relaxing from the king size bed to the recliner couch, and the walk in shower room is wonderful. We enjoyed our stay so much we’ve booked to go back in April next year. Secure parking and a lift within the building all added up to making the property top class holiday accommodation.

    Graham and his wife were very welcoming and helpful. (Thanks so much for the goodies). We found the apartment very relaxing and comfortable. Watching the activity in the dock, enjoying the swans cruising up and down and following the ebb and flow of the tides was relaxing and entertaining. Berwick is a lovely, historic town which we enjoyed exploring. A great place to stay, thank you.

  • "This was a very comfortable and well appointed property with the benefit of a lift."

    We were welcomed by Graham who was very informative and helpful. It was just a few minutes walk to a range of restaurants and there was a handy grocery shop nearby with larger shops a short drive away. The view of the harbour was great - there was always something going on which was interesting to watch. The secure parking space was a great asset. Berwick is well placed to drive down to Bamburgh and Seahouses or up into Scotland. We also caught a bus to Holy Island during our stay. Altogether, we had a lovely time and can strongly recommend a stay at Mill Wharf.

  • "We've just returned from an excellent 4 night break at 5 Mill Wharf."

    The apartment for two was very clean, spacious, warm, comfortable and very well equipped. Graham was a great host and had thought of everything to make it a very pleasant stay, including a lovely welcome pack - very much appreciated, thank you. The apartment has interesting views overlooking the working harbour. The property is very secure and has private gated parking. There's a supermarket a few hundreds metres away and plenty of places nearby to eat and drink. It's only a short walk over the river bridge to Berwick town centre. Step outside the front door and you're on the Coastal Path route so ideal for walking. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property.

    Welcome pack very good and much appreciated. Maintenance issue with TV resolved by owner within 30 mins who was very helpful and chatty. A couple of maintenance issues which the owner was aware of. The only strong negative was the communal stairwell and lift which had a very unpleasant smell. A very enjoyable week.

    Lovely views from the living area and beautiful scenic coastal walks from the doorstep. Enjoyed days out to Edinburgh(easy access by train), Holy Island/Lindisfarne and fascinating villages of Etal and Ford. Unfortunately many of the historical buildings were closed as too early in the season so worth checking dates if wanting to visit particular places. Lots of lovely places to eat/drink and will definitely be returning.

    We really enjoyed our stay at 5 Mill Wharf. Berwick and its attractions are easy to reach and Berwick itself is a perfect starting point for trips into the surroundings.   • "Gem of a place in excellent location."

    View from the picture window is outstanding. Graham was very welcoming and we appreciated the food supplies and prosecco. Only troubled the kettle and toaster but kitchen appeared well stocked if you needed more elaborate cooking! And plenty of glassware and crockery so not constantly washing up. Block is very quiet and parking secure. Sure the space appears a little tight but we managed to get a 7 seater in without too much trouble. Efficient and spacious shower. Comfortable bed. Wooden floor a little creaky but hardly a problem and probably due to the heatwave we were lucky to enjoy. A place we could happily have spent a lot more time in.

    The flat was absolutely all we needed - spacious, modern, clean, very comfortable in every respect, with fab views over the harbour across to Berwick.   • "This apartment is really fabulous it is very clean & spacious and has everything that you could need for a self catering holiday, it is also very nice & quiet, the only thing missing is a full sized ironing board as the tiny table top one is really not good to use for long items!"

    (if you do read this Graham 2 Ikea easy chairs would be absolutely brilliant in the big window bottom) We used to move the arm chair and small wicker chair into the window bottom but 2 of the mentioned Ikea chairs would make this apartment PERFECT. The apartment has amazing views over the harbour, town & out to sea. The shower was really great with good pressure. Bedroom was also very comfy with plenty of space & storage. The owner Graham was lovely and very knowledgeable. The apartment has its own private parking space within a gated area, your parking space is a tad tight as you have to park in between 2 metal pillars but my Husband had no trouble at all in our Golf by folding the mirrors in, it is such a bonus to have your own parking space. We have enjoyed staying in this apartment that much that we have already rebooked it for 2023. 5 Mill Wharf is a Really GORGEOUS apartment.

  • "Lovely holiday apartment equipped with everything for a very comfortable stay, including a tray of goodies to start us off - milk, butter, tea, coffee, bread rolls, etc."

    The view over the harbour to Berwick walls is great, especially at breakfast time when the sun is streaming in from the east. (The apartment faces north.) The apartment is very convenient for Berwick centre ( just over the old bridge) and for local store, eating places and exploring the area. Graham is a great host and always willing to answer questions about the area. We fully intend to go back as we were too early in the season for many places to be open.

  • "The property was nice and clean and although we stayed there in February the apartment was very warm."

    The kitchen was well stocked but there was little space left in the cupboards for our food. The only criticism that we have is the size of the pans. There are just three small pans.

Good views over harbour to Berwick walls.Owners at the end of the phone if needed. Amazing location for visits around Northumberland, Edinburgh easily accessed by road or even better train. Berwick is a ten minute walk. Asda 2 mins away by car. Safe, secure car parking.Alistair is welcoming, approachable and friendly. Would highly recommend the flat.

    The apartment had fantastic views, every thing was in place for us and the hosts had considered every comfort and went above and beyond in respect of the provisions that were left for us with some lovely touches. We had a very slight problem with heating which was sorted out immediately and to our complete satisfaction. Definitely worth a visit as it was great value and the host could not have been more helpful.

    Graham met us and showed us in to the lovely place. He also went out of his way and also showed us which way to go into Berwick and Spittal. The place itself was just like home from home with everything you could possibly need for a nice chilled out stay. Plenty of kitchen equipment if you should want to cook yourself or a few recommended places to book (in the yellow folder) if you wanted to go out and eat. It was a very relaxing and cosy apartment with a very comfortable king size bed. We would highly recommend you booking with Sykes Cottages and totally stay here.

Definitely recommend this to everyone. Having breakfast watching the seals in the harbour and the wildlife was amazing.     Graham is a very friendly host, who met us on arrival & when we were leaving, as well as being in contact before & during the holiday. He had some great advice & suggestions about local places to eat & things to do - the local sunset cruise is a must! There were bonus items of food & drink in the apartment (which we weren't expecting) and the privacy felt very secure during our stay, which was really lovely. Would definitely recommend using Sykes Cottages & booking this apartment to anyone visiting the area.

    The apartment does look over the Tweed to the walls of Berwick, with swans gliding in and out of the quay. However, it also overlooks a busy working wharf, resulting in a lot of haulage trucks coming and going. A lovely apartment though, in a beautiful area.

    Graham was wonderfully welcoming and the hospitality tray was much appreciated. It was a short walk over the bridge to the restaurants, we recommend the Queens Head and Limoncellos. If you fancy staying in there is a Marks and Spencer food hall in walking distance and you can simply sit at your table and look out on the River/sea while eating. There is so much to see and do Paxton House is a must and of course the coastline is gorgeous. We can’t recommend this flat highly enough.
