  • "This is our third stay at Barnacles as we love the property and location."

It’’s in a quiet area within a few minutes walk of the coastal path and beach. The additions of a well stocked bookcase, coffee machine and welcome pack of tea, coffee pods, milk and biscuits were much appreciated. We were so impressed with the coffee machine we have purchased one for home! We will definitely be booking again.

We're so glad that you enjoyed your third stay and some of the changes we've made recently. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Kathy & Martin Property Owner

  • "Barnacles was a great base for our week in Northumberland, it was like a home from home - comfortable and warm with a very well appointed kitchen."

We enjoyed the selection of games and DVDs provided, especially on a very rainy day! Great location close to the beach and easy to get out and about to Alnwick and further afield.

We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay, including the rainy day :-) Hopefully we can welcome you back another time. Kathy & Martin Property Owner

  • "Lovely bungalow and everything needed for a great holiday."

I had worries about heating before we went, as my 93 year old Mum was coming with us . I needn’t have worried the owner was really helpful and the heating was excellent all of the time we were there. Highly recommended holiday cottage.

We're so pleased that you had a lovely stay. Hopefully we'll see you again another time. Kathy & Martin Property Owner

  • "Barnacles was a fantastic place to stay and immaculately clean."

It was one of the best equipped cottages I’ve stayed in with a great kitchen and facilities. The cottage is dog friendly with a safe, enclosed back garden. It’s in a beautiful location, a minute walk to the beach and very easy to explore other parts of Northumberland. I hope to return soon.

Thank you for your lovely review. we look forward to welcoming you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "We have visited Barnacles previously but noted this year how much cleaner & "looked after" the property felt."

There was a much better supply of cutlery & crockery etc for 4 people. Debbie, who looks after the property, was leaving as we arrived & made sure we knew how to contact her if we had any problems. When 4 of the lightbulbs blew during our stay she quickly sorted the problem, excellent service!

Many thanks for your lovely feedback :-) I'm so pleased that you found it better than previously. I have passed your comments on to Debbie too. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

Many thanks for your feedback and I'm very pleased that you found Barnacles very clean and comfortable. Thank you also for pointing out that we don't mention the second toilet in the property description. I will get the description amended as it is useful information. We hope that you will pay us a return visit in the future. Property Owner

  • "I was very sorry to read that you found the water temperature was scalding and wish that you had contacted us."

Our subsequent guests confirmed that the water was not scalding as they adjusted the mixer tap and were very happy with the termperature. I'm sorry that you left early.

Thank you for your feedback. As I explained when we spoke on the phone, the issue with the shower in May was not related to temperature, rather it was not possible to stop the shower dripping when turning it off. Subsequent comments made it clear that the dripping became worse and a plumber was called to replace the relevant part. After this part was replaced, the water temperature appeared to be fine when the weather was hot, but we found that it could not be increased sufficiently for a hot shower once the weather became cooler, so the plumber was called again and another part was ordered. This part did not arrive until the Monday and was fitted on the Tuesday rather than waiting for the next changeover day. I was very sorry to read that you found the water temperature was scalding and wish that you had contacted us. Our subsequent guests confirmed that the water was not scalding as they adjusted the mixer tap and were very happy with the termperature. I'm sorry that you left early. Property Owner

  • "Window vents require cleaning, including bathroom vent."

Lamp on extractor fan requires replacing. The kitchen water tap is loose, requires tightening before the connection pipes fracture. The boiler setting for the hot water is too HOT! The water will scaled someone, a sign does NOT relinquish your responsibility. If your going to keep the mixer tap would suggest a single control valve, less possibility of scalding. Please add to your welcome text, that there is 2 key boxes, in the same way as your welcome brochure in the lounge. Arriving after 9pm the only key box you see is the garage and your not aware there is another!! We almost booked into the Premier Inn for the night as there was no way we could contact any body!! A very welcome touch

Hi. Many thanks for your feedback. We were disappointed to hear that the bathroom vent still needs cleaning as we requested this some time ago. We hadn't spotted that the window vents needed cleaning so thanks for pointing it out. Also, many thanks for letting us know about the kitchen water tap - we were not aware of that. Your feedback about the hot water is also helpful. We have fed all this back to NCCC who manage the property for us, so hopefully all your points will be addressed very soon. We will look again at the welcome text with a view to amending it to make it clearer that there are two key safes. The 24 hour contact number should have been included the booking details, but we will add that to the welcome text also to ensure it's to hand on arrival. We do hope that the rest of your stay was enjoyable and that you will consider a future visit. Kathy & Martin Property Owner
