  • "Our second visit to Tiore, and it lived up to everything we remembered from our first stay."

A comfortable, homely bungalow with all the facilities you could want, plus a delightful garden to sit and while away the time. The owners aren't intrusive, but are only next door if you need anything. Whether, walking, cycling or touring in the car a lovely area to explor.e

  • "Tiore is a wonderful, peaceful base for exploring the region."

The cottage was absolutely spotless and contained everything we needed for our 6 day stay. The owners were there to greet us, had the heating on ready and even a delicious lemon drizzle cake waiting for us. Delicious and thoughtful! We enjoyed watching the deer and birds from the window and at night there is absolutely no light pollution! We didn't experience any disturbance from the saw mill opposite and the parking was more than adequate. A lovely stay, will definitely return!

Thank you very much for your kind words, we do appreciate them and we are happy you enjoyed your stay at Tiore. As to previous guests, we now say to you - your satisfaction is our reward. Property Owner

  • "There was loud machinery outside property at 7."

30am and we always sleep with window open. Parking was a concern on the tight corner with van's and trailers passing our car. Could hear noise in loft area most mornings about 1am, sounds like vermin in loft so reccomend you have it checked as it might be squirrels. Inner door not locking my partner didnt like as she is security conscious.

We are sorry that your experience has been so negative and saddened that you did not address the issues with us directly as we would then have been able to give you an explanation as well as to apologise in person. Your comments came as a harsh contrast to the words put in our visitors book and with the interaction we had with your partner on our doorstep. In order to defend our excellent reputation we feel it necessary to address each of the issues you raise: Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, there was occasional loud machinery due to Sawmill and Forestry workers having to deal with the aftermath of storm damage. The stock fence in the field was also being replaced that week and the extra traffic was to a house in the process of being renovated. The excess noise was not the norm and we are sorry that it coincided with your stay. On your arrival you were advised the best place to park your vehicle. We were pleased to note that you followed this advice, thank you. To park in the marked area leaves ample space for other residents, deliveries and in this case the contractors working on the renovation. The cottages were built in 1914 and to have mice in the loft of a country house is often the case. Dont expect there are any squirrels but there could be bats. In the twenty years we have been here there has never been a mouse or anything else coming from the loft to the inside the property. There was more possibility of something to come in through your open window than from the loft. As for the security aspect of the inner door, the lock was removed years ago after someone was trapped in the porch without a key for either door. Recently, due to health and safety regulations and advice from the Fire Officer both the front and back doors were replaced with keyless exit locks. To replace the inner door lock would not add to the security of the property and would go against both the fire officers instructions and our licence requirements for safe and easy exit in emergency. • "The cottage was comfortable and clean, the bonus for us was to be able to sit outside just from the kitchen and take in the beautiful scenery."

The only issue we found was the mattress in main bedroom allowed the central bed frame to be felt. The single beds were comfortable. The owners were very welcoming on arrival.

We are very sorry that the comfort of your stay was compromised by the feel of the mattress. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will remedy the situation when we do the next changeover on Friday. Property Owner

The cottage was very well equipped. It was very peaceful and quiet. Bowmont Forest right outside the doorway was very beautiful with only the sounds of the birds. The towns of Kelso and Jedburgh close by are well worth a visit. We will be back.

Home made coffee cake was waiting for us and Christine made gluten free biscuits especially for me. They let us collect the chickens eggs and Peter showed us his wood working studio. • "The most well thought out and considerate accommodation!"

I was totally blown away by the property having everything we needed any more; from condiments in the cupboard, spare baby shampoo and bubble bath in the bathroom to nightlights across the house. Plus the brownie cake left for us on arrival was amazing and a lovely surprise! We felt totally at home and so so comfortable. The house is wonderful and everything we needed for our week away with our toddler. The garden and space around the house is fantastic! The only thing we can suggest, and this is really a small thing and doesn’t take away from our stay- the knives were rather blunt so we struggled to cut meat and veg. So in love with our stay and absolutely would book again in a heartbeat
