It is finished to a very high standard and was spotlessly clean, very reassuring in these times. Location wise it is fairly remote which suited us, very peaceful and relaxing and just what we wanted. Lovely decking area to enjoy eating out, and a nice view over the fields / hill at the back. Plenty of space for some boules in the evening! It’s only a few miles from the lovely beach at Coldingham and about 15-20 min drive to Berwick. No WiFi but that wasn’t a problem, we had phone signal on both o2 and Vodafone. We would absolutely recommend Meadow Lodge.

The lodge is warm, spacious and beautifully decorated with lovely views. A generous decking area provides very pleasant outside space to enjoy a glass of wine and relax in the sunshine. Anne and John made us feel very welcome. We are looking forward to our next visit already! There is plenty to do in the immediate area with St Abbs head and Berwick a short drive away and both provided lovely walks.

The accommodation was exceptionally clean and it showed that time had been taken to make sure everything was just right. It was lovely and comfortable and we particularly enjoyed the log burner. For us, the location was perfect, peaceful and out of the way but within easy reach of local amenities in our car. The only thing we did miss was WIFI but this did not spoil our holiday. The local area was also enjoyable with lots of places to visit within an easy drive of the lodge.

  • "The lodge was very well appointed, with a cosy feel."

It was very clean on arrival, with plenty of information about how everything worked and also the surrounding areas. The owners, Anne & John were very friendly and helpful, without being in any way intrusive. The lodge is situated in a quiet place surrounded by farmland and woodland. The nearby towns are characterful, especially St. Abbs, while the beach at Coldingham was perfect for families. There's plenty of coastal walks, and picturesque coves to visit. Berwick is 15 minutes by car for doing supermarket shopping, and generally pleasant place to visit. Edinburgh is an easy hour's drive on the A1 with all the historic buildings and attractions you would expect!

The local beach. Coldingham Bay, is beautiful and the coastal walks are very scenic. The lodge itself is perfect for a family and we really enjoyed our return visit. We would highly recommend a visit! There are many things to do nearby: why not explore the local countryside or venture further afield to places such as Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle, St Abbs (twinned with Asgard!) and Edinburgh…to name but a few.

The neighbours were very friendly and always willing to give advice or help with my issues. Especially Ken & Lynn. If I was going to be negative about the lodge! I would say that the blinds in the lounge were in bad condition and didn't offer complete privacy at night, also the mattress in the master bedroom needs replaced. Both my partner and I would wake up with sore backs in the morning. I don't want to be negative about our week at Meadow Lodge. It was a fab week and we really enjoyed the walks and wild life. I will recommend this location to our friends. Thank you once again to Sykes Cottages. Peter & Fiona.

The owners were just lovely, they met us (even though we were late due to traffic earlier on in our journey) and showed us round and left us umpteen things that meant we didn't have to go out shopping immediately including some tea and milk - most important! The lodge was great, clean and comfy with a well supplied kitchen, DVDs, books to read and games to play. The area was amazing; the beaches and harbours were so lovely to look round and there were two nearby pubs serving food - we found the food in the New Inn to be fantastic and ate there several times. All in all a great, great holiday which I'd thoroughly recommend.

The cottage was stunning and everything was catered for, a real home from home, clean, tidy and immaculately presented. The location is idyllic with a wonderful outlook across the Scottish countryside, with the most noise being the birds singing! A text was received from the cottage owners the day before our arrival providing instructions as they were on holiday and wouldn't be able to greet us which gave us the required information we needed. The cottage contains a wealth of information regarding the surrounding areas and places to visits, including restaurants and menus. Cannot recommend highly enough, a credit to the owners.

For those who want a break to "get away from it" this lodge is perfect, you are close to Edinburgh and only 11 miles from Berwick so if you wanted to hop on a train North or South it makes places very easy to get to. Ann and John who own the lodge meet you upon arrival and are lovely people who go through the vital things you need to know about the lodge, they are very helpful and the lodge has plenty of information packs which have tourist attractions, walks, restaurants etc etc - they really have everything planned out perfect for you! St Albs is a beautiful quaint little village with a nice Harbour and for those who like to walk its easily in reach, Eyemouth is close by and for those interested in Diving or fishing its a great place to visit. All in all Meadow Lodge is great value for money in an excellent location, we highly recommend it.
