  • "Well maintained property close to Market Square with everything you need for a short break."

It's quiet at night and the bed is comfortable. All the local shops and pubs are close by. The Italian restaurant next door but one does a great takeaway pizza !

  • "The cottage was excellent."

Very clean and well decorated. The furniture, bedding and kitchen equipment including cutlery and crockery were of a high standard. There is an excellent Italian restaurant two doors away and well worth a visit. The only thing missing was that there was no folder giving tourist information leaflets on places to visit etc. The local tourist office was closed so we had to do some research on line. Overall a great experience.

  • "Really lovely cottage in a great village which has loads to recommend it."

Everything necessary was provided, and of course the parking permit was invaluable. Can I suggest a mat at the back door. Overall a great base from which to explore Northumberland!

  • "Nice cottage well presented in a great location."

Comfortable beds and lovely kitchen area. Only warning is that the stair treads are very narrow and quite steep. Unfortunately one of our party ended up falling down the stairs. Obviously you expect these type of stairs in old properties but a warning or a handrail on the wall might help.

  • "This is a lovely little cottage."

Beautifully laid out and furnished with everything we needed. The owner is extremely easy to communicate with and responds well. There was a heating problem so she provided a weeks worth of logs for the wood burner and room heaters. It was more than adequate and very cosy.

  • "14 Front Street is a beautiful cottage."

It is absolutely perfect for a family of 3 or less. It is tastefully decorated and well equipped, and has the wow factor from the minute you step through the door. It is situated in the fantastic village of Corbridge that has pubs serving great food and an amazing patisserie called “Grants”. It was the perfect spot for us to explore Hadrian’s wall. The only grumble was the double bed which was low, and uncomfortable. It creaked every time one of us moved and would benefit from a deeper mattress. We only had a short stay so managed but doubt my back would have held up for a week. Other than that, I would recommend this cottage in Corbridge.

  • "Couple of points: Limited cutlery and crockery meant we actually washed up rather than using the dish washer; It was cold during our stay and I coudln't get the central heating to work."

The settings all seemd to point for heat please but the boiler woudln't fire up consistently. The recycling system seemed a bit chaotic. First the green bin seemd to be the rubbish bin and the black bin the recycling? Secondly I put out both bins on thursday but neither seemed to be emptied although the bin men came? Not a big fan of slippery black shiny sofas! Otherwise lovely place and muh enjoyed our holiday.

  • "The bed was uncomfortable and the duvet was too heavy and hot, we took the duvet out of the cover, folded the duvet and used the cover as a sheet and that was fine."

Information about the bins was confusing and had to ring for clarification; could have been clearer in the welcome info. Otherwise everything great, cottage was comfortable and tastefully done.

The attention to detail in the furniture and fittings as well as the equipment available in the kitchen suited our needs perfectly for a 2 week visit. We were given plenty of information in advance about the cottage, the parking access as well as the little details that help make the stay as relaxing as it should be. We can wholeheartedly recommend 14 Front St.

  • "After an initial very disappointing arrival."

..cold and tired after arranging a house move...to find, at 5 pm NO heating on and NO fire laid ..the owner apologised and was most helpful. She understood that it is not acceptable, on a bitterly cold winters evening, to have to start setting a fire with overcoats on whilst shivering!! Certainly not welcoming. Also not enough logs for the first night. We have two 5 star cottages and provide all that this standard requires so that guests feel pleased and pampered from the start. However, a great deal of work has been done to the cottage which is delightful and we were happy to stay longer. Perhaps more than 4 of all cutlery would make sense ...double up. Good Value. 4 star plus. Would recommend.

  • "The cottage was beautiful - comfortable and equipped to a really high standard."

The location was central, we walked everywhere. The railway station was only 10 minutes' walk away and the service was excellent. Lots of great places to eat and drink in Corbridge. We only managed to park outside the property once during the week but always managed to get a spot no more than a minute's walk away. Would definitely return.

  • "Firstly we would say that the Cottage is lovely."

It is spotlessly clean and furnished to a very high standard in the main. We did however feel that the bed was very uncomfortable and was "squeeky!". By the end of our 9 night stay our backs were aching! I think it would be wise to point out in the advertisement for the cottage that care is required on the stairs as the treads are very narrow (we do appreciate that this cannot be helped in a small cottage but worth pointing out) We have stayed in quite a few cottages in Corbridge and overall do not feel this represented good value for money at almost £200 per night even given that it was high season.

  • "Saturday was the only day we struggled to park after being out all day."

Later on we were able to move the car closer. For us it wasn’t an issue but may be for some or a Saturday. The one thing that would improve what was a really lovely cottage is better blinds in the bedrooms. They do let lots of light in so we were woken up very early each day. i.e. 4/5am. Did go back to sleep until 7 but would be better if darker in bedrooms.

  • "We were delighted with our stay in 14 Front street apart from the weather but that was out of the owners hands ."

The best way I can describe our response to staying in this delightful cottage is to say that my wife would have chosen nearly all of the furnishings herself . Somebody must have had a field day in John Lewis . Everything worked according to plan although we found the cooker top a little difficult ,we don’t have an induction hob at home . We found the size and convenience of the cottage ideal , if it was closer to where we live we would seriously tempted to purchase something similar . Corbridge is a delight Village with an abundance of good eating places ,there is even a nice Italian restaurant 3 doors from the cottage . The owners instructions were very comprehensive and they were very helpful with any small queries we had . All in all a delightful stay although we were unable to take advantage of visiting many of the other attractions in the rest of Northumberland as we had done before because of the weather . Maybe next time we visit this wonderful property . John Cooke .

We were very pleased that the owner picked up on a couple of minor suggestions we had made (a mirror and coat hooks). The superb standard of decoration and equipment had not in the least deteriorated. Although our favourite restaurant, The Duck House, has closed, there is now a decent Italian (The Cassia) just a couple of doors away. We will probably return to this cottage next year.

The lounge area is more spacious than it seems on the website, and the smaller bedroom has a high ceiling and a lovely extra rose window above the normal one. Front street is very quiet, but all the shopping facilities are literally round the corner. Inside, it is very thoughtfully equipped and clean. Will definitely come back!
