  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Deanrise."

It is a beautiful property and was perfect for our family (3 adult siblings and their families) the kitchen was well stocked with equipment and bits like foil/ cling film. Oven gloves would be a handy addition. Also would benefit some storage/ hanging rail in the downstairs bedroom. We’d have preferred it further from the road noise but were aware of this before we went and we got used to it. The opportunity to rent a hot tub was well received by our children.

Thanks for your feedback. So glad you enjoyed your stay and the hot tub! Best regards Property Owner

  • "We had the most wonderful stay at Deanrise."

It had everything we wanted, plenty of indoor and outdoor space and the ideal location for us. We had to contact the property managers as we couldn't locate the fuse board and we came home one day to find the electricity had gone off. They helped us immediately and we had it sorted within minutes of calling them. We cannot fault the property and are already looking to book to come back.

That's fantastic. I am glad you enjoyed your stay at Deanrise and will be pleased to welcome you back soon. Regards Property Owner

Radiator leaking. Was warm and pleasant but lounge furniture very uncomfortable. Beds comfy and appreciated the tvs in rooms. Very little road noise but did have someone hammering on the door at 11.30pm on the Friday night asking for help and a taxi to Carlisle!

Thanks for your comments. We have dealt with the leaking radiators and apologise you didn't find the lounge room furniture comfortable. Best regards Property Owner

  • "The house is wonderful and the beds and sofas and general space was super for our family."

I have to mention a couple of things that I feel need improving 1) The crockery is so badly scratched that we did not want to eat our food on it - so we felt we had to buy some plates. 2) the saucepans are in a bad way the bottom of the pans are all worn and food caught on the pans and pans smoked every time we cooked. We had a lovely stay and it’s a perfect spot for a family - be aware the house is actually at the side of the A1 if noise bothers you. Also, I booked the house on the basis it had a study listed in the description - when we arrived there was no study . I was disappointed about this. Overall, a super house for a family stay in the glorious north east. The beds are super comfy, the heating comes on in the morning and late afternoon, and there is a lovey log burner if you want to use it. We stayed in winter so the heating was appreciated. It has a super family kitchen to sit in and a lovely sun room with space to sit. Thank you.

Thank you for your feedback. We will certainly look into the crockery and pans as well as ensuring the description is current on the Sykes website. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Deanrise with your family. Best wishes Property Owner

We went to the Indian restaurant up the road very good we went twice also went to Lilburns in Alnwick which was very goodifficult, all in all an excellent weekenday

Thanks for your feedback. Lovely to hear you had an excellent weekend and you enjoyed the outside space and the local restaurants! Best wishes Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic family holiday at Deanrise."

The property is a good size and nicely fitted out. My only comment would be that the small bedroom downstairs doesn’t really sleep 2 and there is no furniture in there other than the single bed with pullout under. This room ideally should be for 1 person. An outdoor washing line would have helped but there is a clothes horse. Although it he A1 is close by, it is screened by tall hedges and the double glazing means you don’t really notice it. The property is ideally situated for the coast, Cragside, villages. The local shop was sufficient and the nearby Indian restaurant was very good, but booking is essential.

Thanks for your feedback and glad that you had a fantastic holiday with your family. We will certainly look into putting up an outside washing line, I think that could be useful. Great that you used the local amenities up in the village too. Best regards, Property Owner

  • "Unfortunately on our arrival the property had not been cleaned from the previous occupants which was a little concerning however a quick call to the emergency mobile provided saw a team of 4 cleaner's at the property after 20 to 30 minutes where they cleaned the property."

Not sure it was the deep clean I should have expected. Apart from this issue we loved our time at the property.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the problem with the pre-arrival clean you experienced. I am glad that the cleaning service company were able to respond swiftly following your call and that you enjoyed your stay at the house despite the initial problem. Property Owner

  • "We had a great stay the house was very clean and well presented."

Rooms were very spacious and well laid out. But would suggest that as the house can accommodate up to 10 guests that the other standard oven should maybe be a double oven as the range doesn’t work during the summer months. And the fridge/freezer could have done with being bigger to accommodate food for 10 guests. We very much enjoyed our stay and woiod stay again

Glad that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your valued feedback. Best wishes Property Owner

Also daughter got splinters from the kitchen benches. Lovely house bright clean and bedrooms were gorgeous. Enjoyed our stay. Checking in times and out times not brilliant.

Thanks for your feedback and pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Deanrise. We will take a look at the kitchen benches to check for damage that could cause splinters and will also look to make the check in time earlier as extra measures due to COVID ease. Best regards Property Owner

  • "Fantastic property."

Immaculately clean. Great house to meet with family and enjoy the wonderful northumberland countryside/beaches. The house was well equipped (although maybe another frying pan would be helpful) and had lovely touches like activity packs for the kids, welcome tray in the kitchen and information about the area and local attractions. The beds were very comfortable and although A1 is very close we were not disturbed during the night and slept very well. I wish the property details had mentioned the small single room with pull out bed was ground floor as we have a family member who is in a wheelchair and didn’t stay with us but could have if we had known this. Also the description didn’t mention a high chair was available for use and we did bring one - if we had known this it would have saved us some room in the car ! I would definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting a comfortable family holiday home and would have no hesitation in re booking again. Thank you.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. I will look to amend the property details to list that there is a ground floor bedroom and note that there is a high chair (and travel cot) available for use. An additional frying pan is now available ! Thank you again and best regards Property Owner

Just for the record we were very pleased and happy with Deanrise. Very well kitted out all brand new. Could have done with instructions on the Aga. The only downside was it’s proximity to the A1. However we were out all day and the traffic is light through the night.

Garden and summerhouse were a great bonus as the weather was fine and the children could play outside safely. Very comfortable furnishings and well equipped kitchen. Owner and Caretaker dealt with our queries quickly. We had a problem with the oven, which was dealt with immediately. Always reassuring to know any problems are solved with little fuss. Will definitely return to this fabulous part of the country and hopefully back to Deanrise.

  • "Deanrise is a beautiful house, extremely large and well suited to two families with a comfy Large lounge plus a garden room conservatory."

Bedrooms are very comfortable and well furnished and with four bathrooms - 2 en-suite - no one is queuing for the loo. Lots of parking and a nice summer house in the garden for the kids to disappear to. Good location and Alnwick is a beautiful town. One small niggle - depending on the rubbish collection pattern (Tuesdays, alternate weeks for general and recycling), guests will arrive to a full bin of one sort or another. Maybe an arrangement could be made with the cleaners to do a tip run in changeover.

About the location

ALNWICK

Alnmouth 4 miles; Bamburgh 15 miles; Rothbury 10 miles.

The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
