  • "We had the best time over Christmas."

The owners had very kindly put up a Christmas tree and some beautiful decorations and provided a lovely welcome package. The house is very warm and cosy inside and the hot tub is a treat. Longframlington is ideally located not far from the stunning Northumberland beaches. Perfect for long blustery dog friendly walks followed by a visit to a cosy pub. We would love to come back.

! We had a fabulous holiday and had everything we could wish for and more. Added bonus was the TV having BT and Sky Sports which was fantastic. Great village and we visited the Granby Inn several times and took home some delights from the butchers. The cottage location was great for Seahouses, Amble, Alnwick and Bamburgh and the hot tub was great after a day of sight seeing. Overall one of the best holidays we have had and we will be back!!

Longframlington is a nice, friendly village with dog friendly pubs and a lovely bakery / cafe (the Running Fox). It's a great base for exploring Northumbria. Chestnut cottage was perfect for our family of 5 and pets. Our children loved the hot-tub and the local playground. The house was clean and was very quiet.

It would benefit from being repainted, lots of marks on walls. Also odd mismatched furniture some of it chipped e.g wardrobe and dressing table in main bedroom. We appreciated the bottle of prosecco but it would have been nice to have some prosecco glasses. Overall we had a nice weekend, hot tub was good.

The welcome pack from the hosts was great. The location is fabulous for touring the area, including 5 miles from Alnwick, around 10 miles to Alnmouth, and under an hour to Bamburgh etc. Village has a great dog friendly pub ( the Village Inn), and great bakery /cafe. There is a small dog field in the village, where dogs can run off lead.

Cottage was superb with everything to hand. Hot tub a lovely bonus after a busy day walking. Definitely recommend visiting Cragside and the Anglers Arms which is just outside the village towards Morpeth. House was comfortable and clean, one thing missing was some pasta bowls as breakfast bowls are too small and plates to messy. Fab field nearby to walk the dog.

Has everything that you would need and hot tub is a bonus, plus great location for visiting the Northumberland coast. Only one comment for a small improvement is it would be good to have a gazebo over the hot tub with a sliding cover for when it’s bad weather

  • "Website wasn't clear about location close to main road."

Very heavy traffic (even during the night). Property could have done with summer duvets. Too heavy for the warm nights. Could do with replacing the loungers, as in a poor state. Back gate wouldn't close (probably heat related). Went to fetch a dogs toy from under the couch. A hoover wouldn't go amiss. These are all small problems. The village was brilliant. People very friendly, and ideally located for day trips (30 minutes to everywhere). Kids loved the hot tub, and the dog field.

The cottage was like a home and home and from the minute we stepped inside we felt comfortable. We have two dogs and they loved the enclosed garden to run and play in. There is also an enclosed dog walking area in the village which was great for the dogs to meet new friends. The outside hot tub was an added bonus and was great for soothing the aching muscles after a day walking the Northumberland coastline. The village of Longframlington was also lovely and big shout outs to The Running Fox for one of the best breakfasts I have had and also the Village Inn which became our local for the week. We will definitely be back & couldn't recommend it highly enough.

The cottage is set in the small village of Longframlington which has a couple of pubs, local shop, butcher and bakery so everything you need within walking distance. The cottage itself is modern, clean and well equipped with the added bonus of a lovely hot tub, it had been decorated for Christmas on our arrival which made it feel cosy and festive. All the contact with the owners was very easy. The locals are all very friendly and welcoming - do go into Carrs the Grocers it is bigger than it looks and stocks lots of different products including local beers and cheeses. Good sausages from the butchers too. Village Inn does good food - big portions and you can take your dog in too. We also joined in the quiz night on Monday night which we enjoyed - you get sausage and chips as part of the quiz entry. Running Fox is a must whether you go to the one in Longframlington or others in Felton or Shilbottle. The latter is in the Farriers Arms and made an ideal breakfast stop on the way to Alnmouth. Coast line is all beautiful - we enjoyed the typical English beach activities as well as bird watching and kayaking. Still lots more to explore. Rothbury is also a pretty town with some good walks around it through forest and moor. Longframlington makes an ideal location for coast and inland walks with everything you need a few minutes walk away.

no hot water and numerous engineer visits interrupted the holiday. These problems persisted through the whole holiday, when we left the property the boiler had shut down. What was more disappointing is i raised a complaint with Sykes after we returned from holiday and have not heard back from you at all to even acknowledge this let alone deal with the specific points raised. This clearly demonstrates your lack of focus on customer outcomes and which is why i am unlikely to use Sykes again

Would be nice to have eggcups, washing up liquid and a new pair of scissors. The toilet seat came off upstairs for no reason and the upstairs toilet is really hard to flush. You have to be out the hot tub by 10pm which would put me off going in the summer as clearly there is an issue with the neighbours and noise in the garden.

  • "We had a lovely holiday at Chestnut Cottage."

On arrival everywhere was spotlessly clean and we had everything we needed including a welcome basket and a bottle of prosecco chilling in the fridge which was a nice touch. The hot tub was amazing, the beds were comfortable and the owners got straight back to us if we had any queries. Our only feedback is that it would have been nice to have a table and chairs outside and access to a bbq but otherwise it was perfect. The village of Longframlington is a lovely little village with pubs, bakery, butchers and corner shop all within walking distance. We ate at both local pubs and would definitely recommend. The bakery was gorgeous, a must visit. Alnwick is about a 20 minute drive away and we visited many other towns, villages and beaches during the week and although some places were closed due to Covid we still had a good time.

  • "We had a fantastic 5 days at Chestnut cottage (myself, my wife, our 2 boys (8 and 9) and our French bulldog) between Christmas and New year."

The property was a real home from home for us. Lovely comfy couches to chill on after long days out, modern kitchen with everything you could need, 3 decent sized bedrooms with very comfy beds, and secure garden for Dougie to mooch around to his hearts content. The hot tub was a real luxury, and a huge hit with the boys at the end of every day (we've had to fend off several requests for us to get a hot tub at home on the back of it). The viallge itself, although small has plenty of amenities (shop, pub, restaurant, newsagent, cafe, butchers, even a play park). We had some lovely meals in the Village Inn, which was very welcoming to our boys and dog and made chips like I remember my Nan making! We also got picnic from the Running Fox to take out with us (They had amazing pies and the best sausage rolls). We were well located for many days out all within a short drive, Seahouses, Alnwick, Bamburgh, Holy Island, Newcastle. We even ventured in to Edinburgh one day. The view of Bamburgh castle from the beach with the sun setting over it was stunning. Owners were also very helpful, and suggested good places for us to visits that we wouldn't have known about (Duridge Bay Country Park). Overall our stay at Chestnut cottage was a real treat in a beautiful area of the country. We will definitely be looking for a return visit.
