  • "Home from home, a lovely comfortable cottage"

  • "Jan, the owner, couldn’t have done any more for us."

She was communicative throughout the build up to us arriving, met us at the property and was always available for any queries. The house was very clean, well equipped and very comfortable. I would have no hesitation in recommending the property.

  • "As this was our 5th trip to Smithy Court finding Jan there to welcome us made it feel like we were home again."

The property is so close to beaches and attractions we love to visit and the grandchildren love to come every time. The space in the property meets all our needs and we just love it. See you next year.

  • "The property was lovely and well placed for sightseeing."

The only problem we had was that we had a number of power cuts , the fault of Northern Power Grid , not the fault of the owners.

  • "A beautiful comfortable cottage with everything you could possibly need inside."

If you have children, they are more than catered for with toys, games and books for rainy days. Perfectly situated in the small country village of Dunstan and yet the sea and beach under a mile away, best of both worlds, plus a local pub 100 yards away complete with small play area outside for the kids, serving tasty meals if you fancy a night off cooking! 10 out of 10 from me, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend

Clean and well presented. Great location to walk into craster and then onto dunstanburgh castle. Near Alnwick for shops. Garden perfect for our 6 year old to burn off some energy. Will definitely return in the future. Thank you!

Well equipped, cosy, immaculately clean and spacious. We all loved it (two adults and 4 children) and didn't want to leave. Jan the owner was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back.

Located in the idyllic hamlet of Dunstan and close to the fishing village of Craster in Northumberland, Smithy Court offers beautifully furnished and presented accommodation which is ideal for a family holiday or a small group of friends travelling together.

The property has plenty of rooms giving guests loads of flexibility in terms of having space to get together and socialise, or space to get away from each other!

The sitting room has ample seating with further seating in the bright and airy sunroom, which has doors opening outside so on warmer days you can throw open the doors and let the outside in.

The good-sized kitchen is fully fitted with everything needed to produce healthy food for the whole family and the adjoining dining room is wonderfully inviting with a rustic table all ready and set up to welcome guests to gather round and enjoy drinking and eating together.

The fenced gardens are a delightful space in which to spend time with lawns and a patio area just perfect for the kids to run around in while the adults chill out.

Hopefully the children will be suitably tired out, so going to bed won’t be a problem with three charming bedrooms to choose from; a double and two twins.

All the bedrooms offer a relaxing space in which to rest your weary heads after an active day of getting out and about exploring and in the morning, you’ll be refreshed and raring to go.

Take a stroll into Dunstan and Craster which was an important fishing harbour in the 17th century and is still famous for its oak cured kippers which have graced the best breakfast tables for more than 150 years.

Just south of Craster is Howick Hall, which was built in 1782 and has associations with the Grey family, including Earl Grey the great social reformer and tea enthusiast.

The gardens at Howick Hall are open to the public during the spring and summer and are especially worth a visit during the rhododendron season.

A walk along the coastal footpath to the north of Craster brings you to the dramatic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland.
