  • "Lodge was freezing on arrival."

We thought we would be coming away with flu. Central heating went off. I rang The property's people to come get it started. He gave me instructions on phone. We did nt like that. It was pouring down that day I had to go look at the gas bottles outside. Surely this should have been checked before we came on holiday. Am afraid we won't be coming back again to Betty s Lodge.

  • "Really nice lodge and good amenities."

Felt that a welcome pack with more details and information, eg ideas of places to visit locally and recommendations of places to eat would have been more helpful rather than a couple of laminated sheets of instructions for Wi-Fi , map of site and gas supply .

  • "This is a lovely lodge furnished to a high standard and being dog friendly is very much appreciated."

beds lovely and comfy may need to get an Emma mattress for home now only comment would be change dishwasher for a washing machine and a broom would be great for the decking area as lots of grass being walked in following grass cut but really lovely would recommend 100%

  • "Loved Betty's lodge it was really clean and comfortable to come back to after long walks."

It had everything you needed and the facilities where well maintained. I found the pillows a little hard but that is personal preference, the beds were clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped, fridge immaculate as was crockery and glassware we did not use the dishwasher. living area was super comfy great having Wi-Fi and a good sized TV. I did the jigsaw wished there were more. Balcony was a good size and the sun was there all day. We did have a dog escape one of the rungs at the end was slightly wider and he managed to fit through. However we have high prey drive setters and there was lots of wildlife around, been good to have a fenced area at the back of the lodge for the dogs. Nice touch was the bottle of the wine thank you. Overall we would highly recommend the lodge it was really nice situated in a wonderful area for sightseeing and walking.

Really glad you enjoyed the lodge and had a grand holiday! Property Owner

  • "Comfortable and well thought out."

Everything you need is included , apart from a coffee maker and more robust towels. The Cook and Barker pub in nearby Newton on the Moor has fine dishes at reasonable prices. We had regular visits from a hare , and were astonished at the peace and silence of the countryside . Would like a return visit !

  • "Lodge was comfortable and we enjoyed our stay with our two dogs."

It wasn’t dirty but not clean either. Extra care to clean windows and buff gloss surfaces would have presented a much better impression. Fire is for decoration only if you are looking for cosy during a winter break. No convenience store on site or nearby is unusual.

Thanks for your feedback. The Bari Bar at the golf club house site now provides a small shop with very reasonable prices for and ad-hoc items. Our new cleaners took over after the winter refurbishment of the property. Although the fire is ornamental, the property is heated throughout with central heating in each room. Many thanks, The Betty's Lodge Team. Property Owner

There was only 2 things that I felt needed a bit of attention 1 the cleanliness of the lodge could have been a lot better 2 the mattress in the master bedroom is desperately needing replaced But the lodge itself and where it is unmeasurable myself and my family hope to return one day

Thanks for your feedback. Over winter 2022/23, the lodge was completely refurbed including new mattresses (Emma/ Brooke + Wilde) on all 3no. beds at the lodge. Additionally, a new cleaning contractor has been appointed. Many thanks, The Betty's Lodge Team. Property Owner

  • "The double bed (advertised as a king) was very uncomfortable."

The vacuum cleaner was full of other people’s dogs hair. The guest book stated ‘thank you for the Prosecco, dog treats, milk’ nothing was left for us! We won’t be returning. We were asked to leave the property as we found it but I don’t think we should have to do a cleaning job when we are paying to stay there. However, I did vac and clean the toilets.

  • "One of the twin beds had a sock left in it which begs the questions had the linen been changed."

The double bed was so soft you felt as if you were sleeping on the floor making it difficult to get out of. The Key safe was not user friendly and we only gained entry with the help of two holiday makers next door who also found it difficult. When we left at 4am in the morning in the pouring rain we could not put the key back in the safe again because of difficulties gaining access therefore we had to put the key in a plastic bag tying this safely near to the key safe. Not ideal as we were not able to leave this as we found it due to no fault of our own.

  • "It said there was a smart tv and there wasn’t, a lot of other lodges had big smart tv’s which would have been better as there wasn’t nothing really to watch on the channels we had."

When the weather was poor we could have used the apps on a smart tv to keep our little one and ourselves entertained. It was also listed that we had a king size bed but it most definitely wasn’t

  • "Betty's Lodge was lovely."

We chose it because it allows dogs (we took 3 with us)- this was a huge selling point to have the dogs included in our holiday and we wouldn't have booked it if it didn't allow this. The lodge was more spacious than the pictures show. The site was quiet and well maintained with lots of walks locally. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
