Mrs Marriott “Just back from a very relaxing week away in Holly Cottage.”
...
The rooms are very generous in size and it's a very comfortable place to hang out. I loved the large kitchen-diner with everything you needed to cook up a roast dinner or do baking with the kids. The utility room is great with a washing machine, dryer and plenty of space to dry damp clothes (useful for damp days in autumn at the beach!). The views from the master bedroom are fantastic: seeing dawn break over a distant Warkworth Castle with Coquet Island and the North Sea as a backdrop was just amazing. Warkworth beach is also brilliant for long walks, sandcastle building and collecting shells and pebbles. We'd seriously think about booking again if visiting Northumberland.

Mr Mcgettrick “This is the third time staying at Holly Cottage and it never disappoints.”
First rate home with excellent facilities and located in a wonderful position with beautiful views.
- Mr Mcgettrick, September 2020Mrs Sidhu “It would have been nice to speak to one of your advisers over the phone but due to current climax this was not possible.”
- Mrs Sidhu, August 2020Mrs Marsh “A beautiful home from home with everything you could need and more.”
Set in a lovely quiet location with far reaching views to Warkworth Castle and the sea beyond. Very handy for visiting all the lovely places Northumbria and would definitely recommend to everyone. Hopefully we will return in the future.
- Mrs Marsh, August 2019Mrs Grange “Holly Cottage met all our requirements and exceeded our expectations.”
The facilities were excellent and we felt relaxed and comfortable during our stay there. The location was rural and quiet with a lovely view.
- Mrs Grange, August 2019Mrs Jeffrey “Very comfortable, well equipped, well looked after, pleasure to spend a week in, property.”
- Mrs Jeffrey, July 2019Mr Childs “The WIFi was slow at times which meant could not use Sky catchup.”
The rear patio and borders could benefit from a tidy up ( jet wash patio). The barbeque could benefit from a new grill as current one beyond cleaning. The property is excellent and the above comments should not detract from this.
- Mr Childs, May 2019Mrs Watts “The holiday at Holly Cottage was a wonderful time of relaxation in a stunningly beautiful and spacious cottage.”
It is very well equipped. It was a pleasure to wake up to the view across the open fields to the sea every day. The location of the cottage is ideal for visiting beaches, castles and National Trust properties. There were 3 generations of us and we all felt at home. It took us a while to get to grips with the heating system and extra bedding would have been very welcome for the master bedroom as the night time temperatures unexpectedly dropped to just above freezing on a couple of occasions. Our daughter and her husband were grateful for the bottle of prosecco.
- Mrs Watts, April 2019Mr Mcgettrick “Excellent accommodation in a beautiful setting.”
- Mr Mcgettrick, March 2019Ms Noon “The cottage was wonderful.”
very clean and had you could wish for including a bottle of wine in the fridge. the sleeping arrangements were perfect as my mum is 91 and can't climb stairs anymore so the ground floor bedroom was what made us choose it.
- Ms Noon, March 2019Miss Spurr “Certainly the best cottage I've ever stayed in.”
The location was wonderful - brilliant views across the fields to the sea, Warkworth Castle and Coquet Island. The sunrises were spectacular! All the rooms were large, comfortable, well furnished and well fitted out. The kitchen was a great place for me to sit and work (yes, unfortunately!) and the lounge, with views, was great for the afternoon and evening. The master bedroom was exceptional - very comfortable bed and lovely bathroom.
- Miss Spurr, September 2018Ms Bacon “We were over the moon with the beautiful Holly Cottage, home from home, although I must say my home would have probably fitted in there three times.”
Certainly value for money with everything at hand that you wanted. We found Northumberland ideallic so many places to visit and certainly made use of our national trust cards. We always looked forward to returning back to prepare our dinner and to relax in the very comfortable lounge. Imogen who managed the house was delightful and we appreciated the prosseco which was left in our fridge on arrival. We would have no hesitation on recommending Holy Cottage and if we are lucky enough to return to Northumberland we will certainly stay there again. June, Paul, Sandra & Karen
- Ms Bacon, September 2018Mrs O'keeffe “Spacious, stylish and well equipped cottage in stunning location.”
Definitely the best cottage we have stayed in in the UK. So much to see and do in Northumberland. Would love to come back and stay in Holly Cottage again one day.
- Mrs O'keeffe, August 2018Mrs Taylor “Good size house good views ,the house wasn't clean there was a coat stuck under ...”
Good size house good views ,the house wasn't clean there was a coat stuck under the bed mattress sticking out so obviously this bed probably wasn't made fresh, there was thick dust all over the tv and unit ,plants outside were all dead and not looked after ,can't maintain them replace them with garden ornaments
- Mrs Taylor, August 2018Ms Crosbie “This was our first time using Sykes and we were blown away with the standard of Holly Cottage.”
The place was huge and had everything you might need for your stay. A great location too with easy access to local attractions and nearby towns. We had a fantastic relaxing break and will definitely be using Sykes again.
- Ms Crosbie, June 2018Mr Kershaw “Very efficient staff at Sykes Cottages very helpful and polite.”
Holly cottage was in a beautiful setting and on arrival everything looked very clean and inviting. We couln't fault the cottage and it exceeded expectations. We also loved the lovely bottle of Prosecco which was left for us in the fridge. Would recommend this cottage to anyone.
- Mr Kershaw, June 2018Mrs Latham “Booking process was smooth.”
App was great to use. Cottage exceeded our expectations in terms of facilities and how well equipped it was. All in all a very enjoyable holiday.
- Mrs Latham, May 2018Mr Childs “Excellent location and well furnished and equipped”

About the location
WARKWORTH
Alnwick 5 miles; Alnmouth 3 miles; Amble 1 mile.
Lying in the loop of the River Coquet on the Heritage Coast, Warkworth is a picturesque village, dominated by the dramatic ruins of its 12th century castle. The history of the village and the castle are intertwined with the Percy Family who took over the castle in 1332. The Percys’ other home is nearby Alnwick Castle, most recently associated with Harry Potter as the film location of Hogwarts School. The main street is lined with Georgian and early Victorian houses and there is an exceptional range of galleries, antiques shops, a village shop/Post Office, pubs, restaurants and gift shops to suit all tastes. Warkworth has its own stretch of sandy beach and a 9 hole pay and play golf course. Also within easy touring distance are Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Farne Islands, several wonderful beaches and Alnwick Garden with its remarkable water cascade and Tree House Restaurant.
