  • “The Annexe is in a very peaceful beautiful location and has a lovely large garden ideal for children and dogs.”

We were happy with the accommodation which was comfortable and spacious. We were already aware of the ‘no shower’ issue so were prepared for it. Hopefully one will be installed soon. We were happy with the accommodation which was comfortable and spacious. We were already aware of the ‘no shower’ issue so were prepared for it. Hopefully one will be installed soon. We had two occasions to contact the owner and were impressed that she returned our calls immediately and was very helpful. There was no hair dryer but she ordered one for us straight away. Also during our stay, the washing machine wouldn’t work. This flagged up what we thought was the biggest problem, which was that the owner doesn’t live locally and doesn’t seem to have somebody nearby responsible for such matters. We reported to her that the machine was faulty on a Friday and she tried to contact an engineer but nobody returned her call until the Monday. The engineer was unable sort out the problem over the phone. The problem might have been quite simple to resolve for somebody familiar with the property but no such person was available. Lastly, the milk in the fridge and the two bottles of wine on our arrival were very much appreciated!

The main street is lined with Georgian and early Victorian houses and there is an exceptional range of galleries, antiques shops, a village shop/Post Office, pubs, restaurants and gift shops to suit all tastes. Warkworth has its own stretch of sandy beach and a 9 hole pay and play golf course. Also within easy touring distance are Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island, the Farne Islands, several wonderful beaches and Alnwick Garden with its remarkable water cascade and Tree House Restaurant.
