  • "This cottage is in a quiet location with fabulous views out of the lounge window (being on the 1st floor)."

Items in the cottage were of good quality and furniture comfortable. Just one or two small items missing - I.e. no oven glove in the kitchen and only 1 key in the key safe (potentially between 4 people) Not sure how often the owners visit though as one of the brochures left in the file was dated 2000/2001 - 21 yrs old!! As I say though minor details, we did enjoy our stay and were very fortunate to have good weather for our week too. An ideal spot for travelling up & down this beautiful coastline.

  • "Absolutely stunning view."

Cleaning could be improved. Maybe more cooking utensils. Would recommend to anyone.

We’re sorry to learn that you felt the cleaning in our cottage could be improved , we have had no other such reports , but as you don’t say what area was at fault it is difficult to say more. We will bring your comments to the attention of our cleaner however and are pleased to see you appeared happy overall . Property Owner

  • "This cottage is in a great Location views from the window looks out towards the sea, there are some great walks and local pubs plus golf course that serves lunch which is great to stop at on your way back to the cottage after your morning walk The cottage has everything you need and is always nice and warm , the bed is so Comfortable it’s Difficult to get out off in the morning."

We have been twice to this cottage and have booked again in November as we enjoy it so much, The only thing I think could improve the cottage would be to have a walk in shower instead of a small bath ,with an over head poor Performance electric shower, saying that it does not cause any problems Looking forward to our next visit to Longstone

  • "The views from the cottage were absolutely fantastic - looking out over the sea."

It is ideally placed for a holiday along the 'coastal route.' We did have a problem with the TV but this was speedily remedied by the owner. We would happily stay here again.

  • "We really enjoyed the stay and loved the setting of the cottage with a superb view over the Bay."

Embleton is a great base for the Northumberland coast. We found the cottage very cosy and the supplementary heating was welcome on the first night when a cold spell had started. The cottage was very clean and the Covid 19 arrangements very clear. The Broadband was very quick although we couldn't master the TV, it didn't matter to us! As a general point, getting access to detailed information on things like appliances can be a challenge in the new paper free world. The smart washing machine was not intuitive but we were able to look it up online and download a manual.

  • "Amazing view makes up for some small issues: The wardrobes are not full size and inadequate for a family of 4 for a week."

I had to remove shelves to be able to hang up clothes. There was enough ceiling height so not sure why they are so small. Complete lack of shelves in bathroom, would be really helpful to install some and fit some hooks for towels/robes. The staircase is extremely creaky, waking everyone and possibly the neighbours. To say the property was not available until 5pm (instead of 3) due to deep clean because of Corona virus; the property was not overly clean, found wrappers in the lounge, a few dirty pots, cobwebs and spiders everywhere, didn't smell clean. Another issue was distinct lack of cupboard space in the kitchen due to 3 cupboards being full of glasses, way too many, 16 wine glasses etc. Would have been better to keep in storage for when needed so I could have put food in cupboards. Other than that beautiful view and lovely village and area of the UK. We will return but to different accommodation.

Many thanks for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the views and your time in Embleton. Each bedroom has a double width unit and whilst they are not the usual 2m + in height this is the first time we have received any comments about them but will bear this in mind. We are sorry that the cleaning standards did not meet your expectations as we take the cleaning very seriously . The extra time during changeover is in part to enable the cottage to air after guests vacate, before our staff enter and part to enable additional sanitising of surfaces etc. This week was the first time in the cottage for our new cleaner and we have reviewed this with our staff to ensure the property is up to standard and will monitor this closely each week. The bathroom has 4 hooks for hanging towels/robes & the tall towel radiator whilst the window sill above the wash basin provides space for bottle storage. We will consider adding some additional shelves. We were aware of the squeaky staircase and have workmen booked to resolve it at the end of this season - we are unable to do that before then as it involves removal of the ceiling below etc which is not possible on a changeover day. We hope this didn't impact your holiday too much . We have removed some unnecessary items from the kitchen. Thank you again for staying with us. Property Owner

The gardens at nearby Howick Hall are open during the summer and are noted for their beauty, whilst Alnwick Castle and Garden are a 'must-see' when visiting the area.
