  • "Lovely house in Eyemouth."

Nice owners. A great base for the top part of Northumberland with places like Berwick-Upon-Tweed, Bamburgh and Holy Island. Coldingham nearby is good with its priory and beach. Exceptionally clean property. We recently purchased a holiday home in Scarborough after experiences with other agencies not Sykes. Seals are the best characters in the town.

  • "We had a very good fortnight at Creel Cottage."

It is a very well-appointed, comfortable, spacious house. There was generous hospitality about everything - from the provision of towels/covid requirements to a welcome box - including the wherewithal for a cup of tea and a piece of cake as soon as we arrived. The icing on the proverbial cake was being able to go to sleep listening to the waves, and to wake up listening to the waves! Excellent all round.

Very comfortable, warm and very well equipped. Lovely welcome pack was much appreciated as we could have a cup of tea on arrival! ( or wine should we have wanted!) Guest book shows many people return more than once! Local walking great for our two dogs and many beaches to explore within a few miles. Lovely fresh fish availability, and friendly helpful local people. We would definitely recommend especially if you have dogs to entertain! We would happily go back.

  • "Creel Cottage is an extremely warm, welcoming and comfortable home from home."

The owners Jo and Mick have put a lot of thought into the furniture and fittings to make the cottage the kind of place their guests want to return to time after time. The location of the cottage so close to the beach and all the local amenities make it an ideal base to venture forth to discover countless hidden beaches, coves, arts and craft shops and wonderful restaurants within just a short driving distance of the cottage.

  • "Creel Cottage is cosy and welcoming, a real home away from home."

It is in a quiet area and there is nothing better than going to sleep to the sound of the waves. Our dog loved her holiday too - getting out for walks along the beach every day and the cottage is very dog friendly. Eyemouth has plenty of good takeaways - with the dog we couldn’t visit any of the restaurants. It is a great area for exploring and we visited a few of the other beaches in the area. Would definitely book Creel Cottage again.

The sea front and beach were literally steps away from cottage door, for a small place there is every amenity you need a short walk away, Jo and mick were the perfect hosts and although we didn't need them they came to see if everything was OK and where to find them if we did, the generous welcome pack was much appreciated, probably the most well equipped cottage we've stayed at, even down to the dog essentials and beach toys for the kids, everything was thought of... The seals in the harbour made it extra special and you can even feed them from the little hut on the harbour.... The perfect place to explore the area.... Highly recommended and can't wait to come back

The property

This end-terrace cottage is located in the heart of the thriving fishing village of Eyemouth, on Scotland's beautiful Berwickshire coast.

An ideal cottage for family or friends, in a convenient location, less than one minute's walk to the beach, shops and pubs.

Creel Cottage is aptly named, as it is one of the oldest buildings in Eyemouth, and was used to store the fishing nets in between trips on the turbulent North Sea.

The ground floor has a spacious dining room and the sitting room is bright and airy, a lovely spot to curl up with a book after a long day’s castle construction on the beach.

The first floor kitchen is well equipped and has a handy breakfast table and chairs.

Three first floor bedrooms and a family bathroom complete this pretty little cottage.

Stroll along to the beach at any time of year, whether on sunny days to picnic on the sands, or on winter days to blow away the cobwebs with the children and dogs in tow.

As well as the sandy beach, there's also a good selection of cafes, shops and bars.

Days out along this rugged coastline are varied and endless, visitors can enjoy coast path walks, watch the day’s haul being landed, play a round of golf or explore the nearby castles of this Heritage Coastline.

A perfect cottage from which to explore this lovely part of the country.

Please note this property is a Saturday changeover only.

About the location

EYEMOUTH

St Abbs 4.5 miles; Chirnside 7.7 miles; Berwick upon Tweed 8 miles; Duns 11 miles.

Situated on the East Coast, just over the Scottish Border, and only eight miles north of Berwick-upon-Tweed, Eyemouth has been a bustling fishing port for centuries, and there are a number of local fishmongers still supplied from local fishing boats today. Narrow cobbled streets preserve the ancient character of this delightful coastal town, and there's a number of visitor attractions outlining the history of the area. Visit Gunsgreen House and learn some of the history of the town and the smuggling that once took place, or enjoy the Eyemouth Museum, fishing heritage centre and art galleries on offer. There are excellent golfing facilities available, with a clifftop course in town and a number of other courses in the area, while walks, cycling, bird watching and visits to castles and country houses are all within a short driving distance. Visit Coldingham Priory, Paxton House, Manderston House, Floors Castle and the magnificent walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed for an exciting day out. Both Edinburgh and Newcastle upon Tyne are reached in an hour, making Eyemouth a wonderful base for touring South Scotland, and the North of England.
