  • "Superb location and facilities for a brilliant break."

We were very lucky with the weather for the middle of February with blue skies and sunshine for all but one day. All the interesting places were easy to reach, although some castles etc. didn't open until March, but it didn't stop our enjoyment and we packed a lot in. We were disappointed that the promised 'welcome pack' was missing, but we had taken milk so we had a cup of tea after our journey which was essential. Apart from that, everything was provided to a high standard.

We had a fabulous week exploring Northumberland. Our little dog came with us she had a great time running for miles on Bamburgh beach. Most places we visited were dog friendly. Will most definitely re visit.

  • "Up there as one of the best cottages we have stayed in and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone and wouldn't look elsewhere if we visit the area again."

The kitchen/diner is superb and really well equipped, we wanted for nothing. Both bathrooms are well presented and have excellent showers. The bedrooms are spacious with ample storage, the beds were really comfy and we both remarked on how quiet the village is, particularly at night. We were also pleased with the lounge area with its comfy sofas , large tv and excellent Wi-Fi, particularly as the weather wasn't great meaning we stayed in more than planned. A big thank you to the owners for the wine and welcome pack and for making it such an excellent place to stay.

  • "Not the first stay @ The Loft, well positioned for visiting the surrounding area’s."

Everything at the loft is clean, tidy and well equipped for a welcoming stay. All amenities to hand, we stayed in a few nights and kitchen well stocked with all cutlery and required cooking facilities. Only thing I’d like to remark on is the double bed in the main bedroom, that the bed frame has become rather squeaky, meaning any movement during your sleep creates enough noise to wake you. Perhaps the bed frame requires looking at or replacing if not fixable, the mattress whilst seemingly supportive, wasn’t as much as it seemed resulting in a stiff back most mornings, this maybe a personal preference, but maybe the availability of a bed topper mattress could be available on site, as it could be stored with the spare blankets in the plentiful cupboards available.? That said, everything else was perfect same as our last stay in The Loft previously.

It’s a great spot for exploring the coast, which is beautiful. The coffee shop downstairs is lovely for a treat cuppa and cake. The accommodation had everything we needed for self-catering. Especially appreciated having decent size bath towels, as so many places only have small ones. And a very comfortable sofa! Would recommend.

From a welcome pack on arrival, to our vacating the property we were enjoying the accommodation over Xmastime, during periods of wintery weather at times. The accommodation was equally comfortable and cosy due to the available centrally heated rooms, which was totally on top of the job. Accommodation is very well positioned for various places to visit in the area, also parking outside for 2 vehicles. We would return if available, on our next visit to Northumbria.

Described very well on Skye’s site, no complaints at all. The owners were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Very doggy friendly. Berwick on tweed was great for doggy walking. Holy island is only open in the morning and shuts down once the tide comes in in the afternoon. Was disappointed with Alnwick though not very doggy friendly. Went to Bamburgh on our last day, wish we’d gone earlier. Very doggy friendly and recommend the crown pub it was the highlight of our food experience and doggy was allowed in. Well situated for walks, the beautiful coast, and villages. A small enclosed garden area has been created next to the property which is very pleasant to sit in for a while when the sun shines. Just be aware there are no facilities, like shops, pubs, cafes within walking distance. Highly recommended.

It is perfectly situated within easy reach of Lindisfarne, Berwick, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Beadnell and Craster. It is dog friendly and just up the road in Lowick are two welcoming pubs, whilst a handy petrol station with a Londis shop lies just a couple of minutes up the A1. We had a fantastic week staying at the Loft, our only difficulty being the front door which seems to have a temperamental lock which can pose a challenge when entering and leaving, and could potentially be a problem if needing to evacuate the property quickly. Other than for the door, the property is excellent.

The barn has been decorated and furnished to a high standard and everything you could possibly need was provided. It was very cosy and homely and we really did not want to leave. The location near Bamburgh and the Holy Island is perfect and our 2 dogs loved the beautiful secluded beaches that we discovered each day for them to run free and were exhausted when we came back for a comfortable evening in. • "What a superb cottage."

Well equipped and furnished to a high standard. The welcome pack of wine, shortbread, bread, butter and milk was perfect for our late arrival. The one change I would suggest is to have some of the doors looked at - bedroom doors that don’t shut make it difficult to keep the dog out (as requested) and the front door is very difficult to close and open. Other than that, a brilliant stay I would recommend to all.

The welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee, bread, biscuits, butter and a bottle of wine was really great. Thanks to John & Eva the owners who did us proud. Top end appliances, excellent large ensuite bathrooms. Big TV and strong wi-fi. Well placed within Northumberland for Scottish borders, and Alnwick/Bamburgh/ Seahouses (packed with families enjoying themselves but avoided by us old fogies.) The fire alarm works as we discovered when we over-cooked the toast. Covid precautions very much in evidence so we felt safe. It seems churlish to offer suggestions but the owners seem keen for guests to do so, so here goes...... All sockets (and there were many) are standard 13amp ones. If you need to recharge phones, shavers, electric toothbrushes you need to bring adaptors. I understand how fragile non-stick surfaces on pans are if not treated carefully but scrambled eggs took a lot of dislodging when it came to washing up, with overnight soaking needed. We found the beds very comfortable but not the settees . The steps up to the Loft are narrow and steep and the threshold easy to trip over, so beware if you are not steady on your feet. The General Waste bin was full to overflowing a week before it was due to be emptied. This is the result of fortnightly collections by the Council. Would a second bin per unit be allowed by them?

It’s really spacious and is very well equipped. The shower for the main bedroom was fantastic. Our only slight problem was with the sofas which weren’t as comfortable as they would be ordinarily as most of the cushions had been removed due to Covid. The seats were very deep so we could only sit with our legs curled up on the sofa itself. The location was good for visiting lots of lovely places. We would certainly stay again if we go to Northumberland again.
