"Lovely cottage,very clean and comfortable."
We had an issue with heating on arrival and this was sorted out straight away.
I would recommend this cottage for people visiting the area, especially with dogs as lots of lovely walks in the area.

"Lovely, comfortable, clean and well presented cottage."
Very comfortable sofa and beds, plenty towels, kitchen and dining fully fitted with everything you could need, and brilliant enclosed garden, enjoyed by both dogs. Very warm and cozy on the cold nights. Excellent location in centre of Jedburgh, so close to the local attractions. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We are really glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope that you will be able to visit Jedburgh again, Mick and Jo Hardy.

"Our second stay in this lovely holiday home!"
Great welcome pack to greet us & accommodation was clean & cosy.
There was an issue with a water leak affecting the kitchen floor when we arrived but the local point of contact Mandy was an absolute star & the home owner very quickly got on the case to sort the problem.
I think the mattress on the smaller bed in the downstairs bedroom has probably past it’s best but other than that everything was great.

"Hallway internal light not working."
Assume bulb gone. Could not find spare. Was going to buy and replace but did not get around to it Difficulty getting into property. Lock very unyielding. Back 2 exits same. Used WD40 which we always carry. Better now. Water coming thru floorboards in kitchen at boiler end. Not reassuring. Thought it was us bringing in water but no. Greenhouse down very unkempt garden with panes standing not fixed. Don’t think broken but still a safety hazard. We had our Westie with us and had to be careful.

"The place was fine and met our needs without any issues of note."
The location is good if you want to be in town, the garden is pretty and everything worked. Even the on-street parking turned out to be no problem at all, and there wasn't much street noise at night as we feared there might be.
My only niggles are (1) the bathtub is free standing with no curtains or enclosure, so it's impossible to shower in it without getting water on the floor (the downstairs shower is great, however); and (2) instructions for the oven and the heating system would be nice. (Sorry, we're Americans, and the symbols on the oven were Greek to us.) And our third person found one of the twin mattresses too thin. But all in all it was quite satisfactory.

"Lovely property."
Suited our family and dogs perfectly, kitchen well equipped with a gorgeous kitchen diner. It has a lovely established garden that was great to relax in. All rooms had comfy beds and the bathrooms were clean and tidy. Great location in the centre of everything with the fantastic history and places to visit. There’s a fabulous pub with food 3 minutes away. Butchers in town which do amazing Scotch pies for lunch and haggis sausage for breakfast. I’d stay here again in a heart beat.

"Lovely comfortable holiday accommodation
We enjoyed it so much we’ve booked it again!"
The house is bright and one of the most comfortable we’ve ever stayed at. The garden is great too for the dogs & to sit out in the sun with a cuppa . Great position in the town for walks or a wander down to the shops.
I only marked the cleanness down cos the fridge in the utility room needed cleaned before I could use it & two of the kitchen drawer handles were sticky but other than that it was spotless.
A well maintained & equipped holiday home which I’ve already recommended to friends!
Many thanks for your positive feedback., we are very pleased that you enjoyed your holiday. We have taken notice of your comments and will act upon them. Kind regards Michael and Joanna Hardy.

"Great spacious clean apartment with very comfortable beds and pillows also."
We had a slight issue working the heating system first night the kitchen seating area got quite cold when heating went off but there is a wee electric heater In the corner that made it very cosy, would recommend the house but Jedburgh itself wasnt the most dog friendly as I hoped and the places that were dog friendly were not child friendly, there's a great butchers and the abbey chipshop was amazing near by though and we just spent bit quality family time in the house which was lovely.

"We come to Jedburgh regular to visit family, this time was a little sooner than planned due to a bereavement."
The cottage is lovely and well equipped (could do with clothes Airer as nowhere to dry clothes other than on radiators), beds made lovely and helped having bread, milk and biscuits on arrival.
The big down side is the cleanliness, like I say the beds made great but it was like that’s where it stopped.
There was mess on floors, dirty tissues in bottom of bin, filthy sponge beside a dirty sink, dog paw prints on patio doors and spillage marks down kitchen cupboards.
Upstairs bathroom doesn’t lock as it’s broken and the tiles in front porch got very slippy coming in with our snow boots.
Maybe I’m picky as I own my own cleaning company but the stand of cleanliness was for sure below par and all the guests said the same as we had to freshen up as we got there.
We would stay again due to great layout and where it is etc for family but I would come more prepared to do a freshen up it up before we stayed again.

"When we arrived the keysafe wouldn't open."
We called Sykes who weren't able to help as they could only tell us the code - which we already had. Fortunately a neighbour knew where the cleaner lived. In the end I managed to get the safe open with my car key, just as the owner called to make sure we were ok. Castlebrae is generally an attractive, comfortable and well maintained cottage, but our booking in December was marred by the kitchen and dining area being far too cold to sit in. The fully-glazed dining area (which has a very pleasant aspect over an attractive garden) has one radiator, which works, but is not at all adequate to heat the space in cold weather. We had to eat off our knees in the sitting room. This was extremely disappointing as I'd asked Sykes before booking if the cottage was fully warm as we intended to stay in a lot. I'm sure the cold in the dining room wouldn't be a problem in better weather, although we note that other guests have also made the same comment, so there was awareness of the problem. The location of the cottage was incorrect on Sykes website, although I understand this has been addressed. We would recommend Castlebrae for warmer months but until the heating issue has been addressed definitely not for winter months. At the very least there needs to be an extra plug in heater. The cleaner was super helpful and the cottage was spotlessly clean.

"Overall excellent and a lovely place to stay."
A couple of minor points, downstairs toilet seat very loose requires adjustment or replacing, 3 of the kitchen lights were not working (didn't cause us a problem but think the owner may want to know). Cooker hood wasn't working - again not a problem for us but think the owner may want to know.
It is a very well positioned property, we will definitely stay again and have already recommended it to a few friends and relatives looking to stay in the area.

we got the chance to enjoy it."
Amazing garden love the views and atmosphere.
Dining area located perfectly, didn't even get a chance to use the living room as everyone was just so happy relaxing in the dining area.
Very spacious and well equipt, perfect for a family of five adults and a large Siberian Husky.
Thank you for the welcome pack also, perfect for a cuppa and toast after an exhausting journey.
A few suggestions:
Lights needed in the back garden for taking the dog out at night.
Indoor clothing airer (for rainy days).
Good quality mop.

"Lovely clean comfortable house."
Perfect in every way.
Tv packed up when we were there, it was replaced within a couple of hours. You couldn’t ask for more.
The only criticism I have is the gardener coming in when we are not there.
If something gets broken or goes missing they are open to accusations.
The gardener did come when we were out and didn’t lock the gate at the bottom of the garden.
Luckily my wife spotted this before letting the dog out.
A very minor criticism but on the whole we had a perfect holiday.
Thank you

"The house was lovely, clean and in a great location."
The heating was difficult to figure out and set on the thermostat and we also had to change the setting on the boiler itself to ‘heat’. The radiator in the kitchen did not work at all so that area was too cold to sit in at night.
An improvement would be to have shampoo, soap and basic kitchen condiments available as we forgot to bring oil and pepper. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay very much.
Dear Guests
We are sorry to hear of the problem you had with the heating. We called the plumber out to check the radiators and he said they were all working perfectly. We have taken your other suggestions on board!!

"We were surprised at the lack of provisions such as toilet rolls, half rolls in toilets, no replacements."
No dishwasher tablets. In other holiday accomodations we have always had a good supply of essentials.
The welcome pack was disappointing, cheap packet of biscuits, a smaller pack of local biscuits such as shortbread would have been more thoughtful.
The bed linen was very poor, looked like it had the life of it washed and dried out of it.
The kitchen was very cold, not able to comfortably eat in it. However, it was a very cold week when we stayed. The rest of the house was lovely and warm.
