. The property was perfect in every other way… close to bamburgh and its glorious beaches. It was very comfortable , we only ate out twice as wood sage offered home comforts that we wanted to enjoy after a hard day enjoying all that beautiful Northumbria has to offer!

Hello, thank you so much for your great feedback! Sorry you couldn’t reach the plates in the kitchen cupboard, maybe I should have moved them to the kitchen larder cupboard. Kindest regards Property Owner

  • "Superb location, with views across countryside to Bamburgh castle and an SSSI on site!"

A beautifully designed, fully equipped, spotlessly clean, and very well-maintained property. A comprehensive welcome pack from the owners, appreciated by all three generations of our family group. Quite simply and by a country mile, the best 'holiday home', in which I've ever stayed and I've been around a very long time. So, overall, not too shabby then.

It is so comfortable and definitely 5 *. The owners have gone above and beyond expectations. The holiday park is in a quiet setting, which we liked, but you definitely need a car to get to restaurants, and tourist attractions. We would highly reccomend Woodsage, and hope to come back in the future.

Great facilities, lovely view of the castle from the main bedroom where you can watch the sunrise in the morning. Great facilities, lots of space, wonderful natural light in the whole cottage and a lovely fireplace for cost evenings. Super helpful, communicative host. Car needed, much like all of Northumberland. Would definitely recommend to stay here.

  • "We loved the property , it was very comfortable and stylish."

The bedding is top quality and the beds very comfortable. We had an issue in that the high chair was not readily available ( the listing says available and I rang Sykes, who said no need to request as it was available!) However the owner was on site and sorted it out immediately. She couldn’t have been more helpful. This is a great area to explore and the surroundings are beautiful. The view of the castle was an added bonus The welcome pack was a lovely touch too.

  • "Staying at Wood Sage was a real treat!"

The accommodation is 5 star all the way. There are so many home comforts and little touches that really do set it apart and place it very highly in the 5 star category. Immaculately clean, incredibly comfortable beds, top quality towels and bed linen to name but a few. The deck area is a complete sun trap and is arguably one of the best postioned lodges on the site. The lodge is ideally situated between Bamburgh and Seahouses and is in very easy reach of the Coastal Path and all of the sites in the area. Very quiet at night and we had the best nights sleeps for years! A fantastic lodge that is more than home from home and will not disappoint. Thank you to the owner who we got to meet, nothing was too much trouble and the goodies on arrival were very welcomed (especially the wine!). No doubt we shall return to Wood Sage.

We visited Alnwick, Berwick, Craster and Lindisfarne but our favourite days , by far, were spent in Bamburgh on the vast beautiful beach. About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
