  • "Lovely, immaculate and clean cottage in a superb rural location."

We had everything we needed and the hosts were eager to provide anything we were missing. Would love to return one day!

  • "Absolutely brilliant stay, thank you so much!"

The views all around the cottage were stunning and it had absolutely everything we needed (every time we wondered - is there… you could find it! So well equipped which made things really easy). The hot tub is lovely and just the right temperature. Lots to do in the local area including Derwent Reservoir and a couple of kids play places in Consett (Jumbo Jungle and Believe and Be) as well as an old railway perfect for cycling and the local viaduct. Would highly recommend staying at Horsley Cottage, the Christmas tree and decorations were lovely as well.

  • "This cottage is more than we could have ever asked for."

We were travelling as 2 couples with our two little daughters. Both bedrooms had enough room for a travel cot and being all in one level meant they could toddle around safely and play together. The enclosed outside area meant we were able to have some time to explore. There is a lot to do for children in the area, all close enough to be able to get there and back before naps. The setting of the area was stunningly beautiful and watching the sun rise and set was a personal highlight. The cottage itself is renovated to such a high standard. The doors and walls are all very soundproof so we weren’t disturbing each other whilst up in the night with the little ones. It was truly a home away from home. Extremely well appointed and had everything we could need or want. There were some wonderful little touches that just made the week so special. Ruth, who owns the property, was extremely helpful and accommodating, even helping us with recommendations for local events. If you are considering booking this cottage, do it now, it’s a hidden gem.

The decoration of the cottage is very high quality and absolutely gorgeous. The kitchen has everything you need and more. Again beautifully designed. Great ensuite and main bathroom. Lovely showers and having two is a great bonus for 3 adults. The views from the living room is stunning over the countryside with the bonus of sheep, pheasants and rabbits. The bedrooms are a good size. There is also a laundry room which has very good white goods. A bonus. The hot tub is fantastic. Just the right temperature and again stunning views. The gardens around the property are great too. Perfect.

Lovely owners on site who are extremely helpful. Even the driveway chippings are quiet and the sheep and cows in the nearby fields don't make a noise!!! We will be returning very soon. Great hot tub which was used almost daily. Very clean property, very well kept and a short drive to the amenities of Consett. One very minor negative was the mattress in the master bedroom which in our opinion needs an upgrade. All in all though a wonderful stay and would recommend. Thank you Peter and Ruth.
