  • "The cottage and facilities were exceptional and our first visit to Northumbria was brilliant."

The fantastic weather we had made it so enjoyable. We stayed in cottage 1 and it met our expectations, although the double bed could have been more comfortable as we found it too firm.

  • "The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed."

A beautiful location and the hot tub was a bonus, although I would have preferred it in the garden rather than across the car park as we had children with us. The only downside was the highly uncomfortable bed. It’s was rock hard and myself and my partner didn’t sleep well all week.. my children also found the duvets too thick and heavy and they kept falling off them in the night, so they didn’t sleep particularly well either. Other than that, a fantastic cottage.

  • "The cottage was lovely and in a very pretty rural setting."

The owners were extremely helpful when we had an issue with the lock on the door. It is handy for all the coastal areas of Northumberland. The enclosed garden with hot tub and summer house was great to return to. The only improvement I think it needs is a larger fridge freezer. The fridge was tiny and only had a freezer box. The reason I have said I would not recommend Sykes in this review is that I would have booked the cottage again for the same week next year but was shocked to see that Sykes have put the price up by 46%! Blatant profiteering due to increased demand from people being unable or unwilling to travel abroad because of covid.

  • "The house is lovely and located in a beautiful setting."

The hot tub and out door facilities are very nice - There is a slight walk away from the property to visit the hot tub which was fine for us but meant we could not use it when our little boy was in bed. We stayed in cottage 2. The cottage next door has a hot tub directly outside the property so if you have children and want to use it when they are in bed, book cottage 1. The house was very clean and maintained to a very good standard. The house is like a home from home with everything that you could possibly need while away. The beds in the twin bedroom are very comfy but the double bed was extremely firm and in my opinion not comfy! Apart from the bed I would highly recommended this cottage.

  • "Fantastic walking area, in the Cheviots, but also not far from the sea for coastal walking."

We were extremely lucky with the weather, which made all the difference, especially in Covid times, meaning we could safely walk. The little garden area with the hot tub was very private, but with a lovely view, with a heated summer house to change your clothes. The shop, and petrol station, in Powburn was very good, just a few miles away.

Spotlessly clean with quality fixtures and fittings, we absolutely loved spending time 'at home'. The garden area, summerhouse and hot tub are brilliant additions, and we made use of them every day. Another lovely touch was the selection of local OS maps and folder full of local walks; we made good use of these. We would love to return, maybe for a long weekend during the winter.

Really good for my dog too as she loved the enclosed garden. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and our trips around Northumberland to Alnwick, Craster, Bamburgh, Amble and Alnmouth. The cottage was a haven to return too and would love to return.

  • "The cottage was beautifully appointed and really well equipped."

The one problem we had (with a light bulb) was dealt with promptly, efficiently and in a relaxed, friendly manner (well, that's what you get in the north east). The hot tub facilities were great. The property was safe for our dog and the owners even provided a dog towel and poo bag, though we're always prepared. We live in a city and the property is really out in the country. That meant that we could see stars we never normally get to see. All in all a wonderful holiday.

  • "We stayed at 1Grange Cottages the last week in September and must say we had a fabulous time."

Graham and Jacqui the owners are lovely people we bumped into them on our arrival. The cottage was done out to an exceptionally high standard everything you needed in the kitchen was there for you so no need to bring anything. The courtyard is secure so great for the dog and the hot tub and summer house which was a short walk away was also very private and secure. The village of Glanton is about a 45 minute walk away following the single track roads so again great for the dog as traffic was very minimal. There are lots of beautiful places to visit on the Northumberland coast within 30 minutes drive id definitely recommend a bit of exploring or if you fancy a lazy day just stay in the cottage which is so peaceful and relaxing. WIFI was great we brought our fire stick so had access to Netflix and other stuff. All in all it was a lovely week away and we’ve booked to come back same time next year

  • "The cottage was beautifully presented, very clean, really comfortable and well equipped."

When we arrived, the thoughtful owners had left us milk, tea, coffee, wine and biscuits. Everything we needed was already there so we could relax on our first night and then go shopping in Alnwick the next day. We soon discovered Lidl and this was our go to shop for the week, but we also are out at some lovely places for lunch too. The cottage is in a lovely quiet location, but only 20 minutes to Alnwick and then on to the coast. We spent many days out - the beaches are stunning and the coastline and surroundings are beautiful. Coming back after a day exploring and enjoying the hot tub was an added luxury. If you've never been to Northumberland, you've been missing out and it's definitely worth the visit. Grange Cottage is a perfect place to stay and come home to after a day out. We loved it.

Having said that walking our dog was lovely and we did appreciate the hot tub.

  • "We had an amazing weeks stay here."

The cottages are situated down a single lane track so it was very quiet and peaceful, perfect for being in the hot tub. The private garden was great for us with the dog, however the whole driveway and communal garden was also great as it was all secure meaning we could just let him out of the cottage knowing he wouldn't be able to escape! The cottage was extremely clean and tidy on arrival, with great facilities and fast internet which I was surprised by as this is usually a negative in remote cottages. Highly recommend for people wanting a relaxing break away! The only slight down side I can think of is it said it was close to a pub, however we struggled to find one without driving far to get to one. But that wasnt really an issue! Would definitely book again.

  • "This property more than exceeded our expectations."

We hardly went out all week, although there are so many beautiful places to go to in the area, simply because it was so cosy at the cottage. The jacuzzi was in an area separate from the house at the end of the drive-way in our own secluded garden with a table and benches as well as a summerhouse, all with a lovely view of fields and hills. My favourite spot for the entire week was a reading corner on the landing of the cottage which was flooded with natural light. The owners have filled a bookcase with all sorts of books and DVDs, all the tvs (in almost every room!) have Netflix and access to channels on the internet as well as normal TV channels. The bathrooms were decorated to the highest standard and the decor in all the rooms was tasteful, restful and pristine. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone and will definitely be going back.
