  • "2 Grange cottages was by far the best cottage we have stayed in."

The facilities were fantastic and the cottage was very clean and finished to a high standard. We really enjoyed our stay and the cottage was perfectly located to enjoy the local beaches and nearby attractions. A dip in the hot tub watching the stars was a great way to end each day. We would definitely recommend this cottage.

  • "The owners were quick to overcome an issue with internet signal which was a supplier issue."

The property delivered on its offering as published, fully. As a dog owner in particular the enclosed garden offering was fully justified which in our experience is usually not valid in properties where in write up as available. The comfort and facilities downstairs were well above normal and upstairs my only comment would be a better quality bed in the main bedroom would be an added benefit. The second bedroom was unused so comment on bed comfort cannot be made. The outside area offered a quiet and enjoyable experience especially with the welcome september sunshine on offer! We will be happy to return and recommend for use by couples which I rarely would.

  • "Beautiful cottage and facilities in a stunning location."

My only comment would be the shower in the ensuite needs replacing. Temperature unable to be controlled and shower head needs replacing. Otherwise stunning.

  • "Look, this place was really expensive for two nights."

I could have gone to Ibiza for 2 weeks with spending money, in another life… Would I have expected a little more for my money in an ideal world: a bigger bed; newer TV; more toilet rolls; a decent shower; not being woke up by a gardener at 08:30? Yes. However, so many little touches make this a lovely getaway. Wine and cake on arrival, the hot tub is amazing, little drawers of handy things like books, batteries and bulbs, tea and coffee along with milk provided. And the place is absolutely, beautifully, spotless. Like it is amazingly clean. I can understand the price inflation considering this peak time of the weekend;, during school holidays, in the fallout of a global pandemic. Is it worth it? I guess that will depend on your priorities.

  • "The cottage was spotlessly clean."

We've stayed in several Sykes cottages, never had such clean smelling bedding. Made you feel comfortable that the cottage was really well looked after. Facilities provided catered for anything you could possibly need, the standard of fixtures & fittings in the cottage were excellent. Location was peaceful and well positioned for local day trips we'd planned. Would definitely return and have no hesitation in recommending to others.

  • "Cold house heating came on 3 set times little heater no use or ornament log fire only provided enough for 2 fires then you had to provide own wood and logs."

Numerous lists of do, s and donts. No phone reception poor broadband. Owner tried to charge extra for dog when we left property immaculate. It was well equipped no salt and pepper though. When complained via phone owner kept cutting out and didn't resolve obviously poor reception. Sent message of complaint no reply. Not fit to be in the holiday home business.

Supplying a starter pack of logs for the wood burner is standard, after all this is self catering. Phone signal is limited in the countryside however we have fibre broadband which is more than fit for purpose. Guests arrived at our ONE pet cottage with TWO dogs without bothering to seek consent beforehand. Sykes sent a perfectly polite email asking if they had seen the property advertised elsewhere stating that two dogs were accepted and if so to let them know. They were also advised that whilst we were happy for them to continue with their holiday that it may or may not incur a small additional fee for any extra cleaning on checkout. The guests took an extremely angry reaction to this email and left the property prematurely then sought a refund. Property Owner

  • "The property was so clean and well cared for."

Beautifully decorated to a high standard. Lots more space than I originally thought there would be. Everything you need is in the cottage. Outdoor dining area, hot tub and sun house were very private and very well kept. Perfect spot for exploring beautiful Northumberland. Thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub after a days visiting Castles, Beaches, Rivers and Gardens. Recommend to anyone and will be looking to stay here again.

  • "Absolutely amazing cottage."

Very modern inside with TV's in every room, washing machine and dishwasher. Log burner was a must during our stay (Storm Dennis!). Hot tub was within enclosed garden which was lit with mood lighting. Lovely little summer house with light and heater for us to run in to get changed. East to find with the directions and when we arrived there was milk in the fridge and wine and cake on the bench :). I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a nice quite break!

  • "In general the cottage exceeded our expectations - high level of decor, wine and cake left for us on arrival, clean and the hot tub was just out the backdoor."

Living room was great for a cosy night in and kitchen had all you needed (including multiple oven trays). There were a couple of things in the kitchen that weren't clean but not really a big deal. Main issue for us was that the extractor fan couldn't cope with 4 people having showers in the en suite. The main bathroom had a handheld shower that wasn't really practical and especially as there is a hot tub, the fan should be able to cope with a few showers a day. The fan started dripping water everywhere leaving the en suite floor very wet and then eventually tripped the circuit breaker whilst i was in the shower. As there is no signal at the cottage this then meant a drive down the road to try and get hold of the owners. Sykes cottages were very helpful and got it resolved within an hour but it was clear it was a known issue as we were told to turn off the shower at the main switch and then reset the circuit breaker without much hesitation.

  • "A beautiful setting for a lovely break away."

Everything was spotless and the hot-tub was perfect and cleaned and checked everyday. The only slight issues were that it was a little chilly in the bedroom - having some blankets would have been nice - and it sometimes felt a shame that the hot-tub cover was hindering a lovely view but otherwise it was perfect and I'd highly recommend.

..we had a brilliant holiday. The cottage had everything we needed and more. Waking up to peace and quiet and looking out at sheep grazing was so lovely. The cottage was cozy and warm and log burner if required but was warm enough without. Fully equipped and our daughters favorite the hot tub was amazing ! Thank you Jacqui and Graeme.

  • "The cottage was absolutely lovely."

The sofas and beds were very comfy and the fire place was a welcome addition. Some basic provisions were provided, however it would have been nice to have been provided toilet roll and bin bags for the stay. The hot tub was large and well kept. The garden was very nicely enclosed which was very important to us and we own an untrustworthy dog! The only negatives for us were that a lot of the dishes/mugs needed cleaning upon arrival as they were noticeably dirty. Also the owners visited the hot tub daily for maintenance, however this had no set time, and therefore slightly took away from the feeling of privacy in the morning/early afternoon. These are both very minor points. Overall we would definitely stay again.

  • "I stayed at 2 Grange Cottages with my 2 daughters who’d been desperate to have a holiday with a hot tub!"

The cottage was beautiful, all excellent quality and perfectly clean with beautiful design & attention to detail. It was really helpful having a washing machine & dishwasher, I found everything I needed in the kitchen - I’ve stayed in several cottages where there’s no oven trays so I really appreciated this. The hot tub was amazing! I was a little unsure if it would be complicated to use, but it was all ready for us and even at the right temperature - we all loved it! I mentioned our dietary restrictions before arrival and a lovely gift of snacks and juice we could enjoy were left out for us. I can’t fault anything - we’d certainly love to stay again. Thank you
