The cottage is beautiful, in a magnificent setting, they provide everything you need, it was spotless, the area around it is spectacular, local shops only a few minutes away, I would highly recommend going to the cottage to any one

  • "We had a wonderful stay in Seal Cottage."

Lower Burnmouth is a magical little place. Loved being so close to the sea - the view from the cottage was amazing and it was wonderful waking upto the sound of the sea every morning. Seal cottage itself is beautiful. A real home from home with the most comfortable beds. My favourite room was the gorgeous Jack and Jill bathroom with an amazing cast iron bath. I would definitely recommend a stay in this lovley place. Were already planning our next trip.

  • "The cottage is delightfully bijou!"

Well decorated and comfortable for 2-4 people. Access via the hill is ok and easy parking, though there was one car for a couple of days who meant a close edge drive. The Aga was a new experience for us and it took a while to get used to it! Within easy reach of the A1 and attractions, such as Berwick; Bamburgh; Farne Islands; Alnwick and Jedburgh as well as many beautiful sandy beaches and harbours. Eyemouth has an amazing fresh fish supply and a coop, as well as supermarkets near and in Berwick. We had an amazing week and would love to return!

  • "The cottage was beautiful and the setting was amazing."

However it was not clean. The aga was filthy and the hot plates full of friend on grease. Every plate and pan we used had to be washed first they were disgusting. The previous people left their trash and it was not removed by the cleaners.

We were very surprised and shocked to receive your comments - our cleaning ladies have been looking after the cottage for 16 years and we have never had any complaints regarding the cleaning - on the contrary. We apologise if there had been some untoward oversight. If we had been notified of this during your stay we could of investigated what may have happened but the cleaners report they had cleaned as usual for your stay. Property Owner

  • "Pleasant, well maintained cottage in a lovely location."

The locals were friendly and enjoyed a good chat. Loved the sound of the sea at night even though it was calm throughout our stay. Rubbish disposal was a little difficult. Question. Would we return for another holiday to Burnmouth? Sadly, the answer is no, simply because of the beach which is a “boulder beach” and unusable.

  • "What a beautiful location, absolutely stunning ."

You will love this cottage if you like seclusion and truly spectacular views. Cottage lovely, beds very comfy and spacious . Was left a bottle of wine which was lovely but a welcome pack would have been good such as milk, bread, biscuits (just a suggestion as shops a drive away and a late check in ). Only room for one car across from cottage which was made clear as parking a premium in this row so just bear in mind . We had a truly wonderful stay and would definitely return .

  • "Our 1st stay in 2013 was in Parten Cottage and later that year we stayed at Seal Cottage and then again in 2014."

Both cottages were more rustic then and the location is simply second to none ! We have wanted to return for a couple of years but obviously Covid and your renovations meant we couldn’t until this year . We could not praise the new look enough . You have made an outstanding job of Seal Cottage and whilst talking to those staying in Parten for the week and their comments it would seem likewise there . The new look with open plan , the AGA cooker , the furnishings, the new staircase ( a great addition from the old style ladder … a lot easier especially for our older family members who joined us who wouldn’t have been able to previously) to the rearranged bedrooms… everything was fantastic. We have had the most amazing stay … weather was fantastic for us … saw many dolphins and plenty of seals at the aptly named Seal Cottage. We would have no hesitation in recommending Seal to family and friends. We look forward to being able to return to Seal Cottage and Lower Burnmouth again …. It is truly our special place ! Thankyou for help making out holiday a lovely experience , you have made a simply beautiful job of renovating.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback which is greatly appreciated. Hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property in a lovely setting."

It was lovely to sit outside and watch the waves. It would have been nice to have logs provided as well as milk instead of wine.

  • "Beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting, loved how close it was to the sea, the sunrise was amazing."

The beds were comfortable, the cooking facilities were great. It would have been good to have some basics such as oil, brown sauce, sugar ect but the wine was very welcoming. We didn’t venture very far as we just wanted to have a complete chill out weekend, which we did!I would definitely recommend this accommodation and Sykes holidays to others and we will hopefully visit Seal cottage again.
