  • "Lovely cottage with friendly and helpful hosts."

The EV charger made things a lot easier rather than having to hunt around for one. Within walking range of a shop and a pub but being on the edge of the village it's in a very quiet location.

  • "As the owner of an electric vehicle, it was good to know that the property boasts its own electric charging wallbox, as the electric chargers in the vicinity are not particularly numerous."

  • "Our first time in Northumberland, The walking was great, the cottage one of the best we have stayed in, everything was top quality."

The owner Hugo came and welcomed us, we did not meet his wife Annabelle. The welcome pack was very nice and the home made marmalade the best we have ever tasted. We hope to be back. A word of caution, fueling stations are few and far between, so if you are getting a bit low, fill up in Hexham or Corbridge. Robert and Sandra Hird.

You cannot go wrong by staying here. The Garden Room is perfect in every way. It’s a real little bolt hole. It’s perfectly furnished and every little detail has been thought of. It’s peaceful and if you like seeing birds close up there will be plenty in the garden! It’s ideally situated to visit many interesting places. Highly recommended.

When we experienced an issue with the hot water it was sorted out quickly. Bird feeders hanging by the windows enabled us to see the huge range of garden birds. The home made bread and marmalade were a lovely touch and we really enjoyed our stay.

I have to say I would truly recommend this amazing place but only if the time we want it for us in the future is still available!!! Thank you Annabel and Hugh for everything. We particularly enjoyed the bird feeders in the gardens - so many different birds! The big bed is super comfortable and the log effect fire made the cottage even more cosy when coming home after a day walking in the rain (even though it was June!!). A really refreshing break which was just what we needed.

It was very comfortable and cosy (the underfloor heating did a very good job of keeping us warm!). The facilities were excellent and every aspect had been very well thought out and top quality. The location is wonderful for walks - we did three from the door. We didn't venture too far but Hexham,Corbridge and Hadrian's Wall were very close by. Also the bird feeders positioned so we could enjoy seeing the birds feeding. We had a thoroughly nice stay

It was equipped with everything you could need and was always toasty warm with plenty of hot water despite 2 named storms coming our way! Annabelle and Hugo were excellent hosts who left lovely little extras on our arrival such as home made bread and fresh eggs from their chickens. Hugo even popped round with some torches the night of the storm in case the power failed - which it didn’t. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and already miss counting the different species of birds from the window whilst eating our breakfast. Thanks again Hugo and Annabelle for a truly relaxing and magical stay.

  • "We chose rural Northumberland because of its 'Dark Sky' status, light pollution spoiling the view of the night sky where we live."

The cottage's situation was ideal, as it is not even in the village of West Woodburn, being almost half-way to East Woodburn. And we had one night of clear skies, so spent a magical half an hour or more sitting outside in the dark that evening looking at the stars, satellites and meteorites..

Why we marked the facilities slightly down was due to the fact there was no wardrobe, and we had to have some clothes on hangers on some hooks. We brought this to the very helpful owners attention and were going to rectify the matter.

Very nicely appointed and practically brand new. Information from the owners was very comprehensive and useful. Local area is very nice with Hadrians wall and Kielder water and forest easily accessible. The area is a dark skies area and that makes star watching great and Kielder has its own observatory open to visitors. A great place to spend time. Easy access to the Scottish borders as well. The facilities in the cottage are very well done and there is a very comfortable bed. The cottage is not big but that makes it very cosy. All in a very good cottage.
