The property

Beautiful cottage located in the Rowlands Gill area of Durham.

Situated on the stunning Derwent Walk, the cottage is ideal for families or couples who wish to enjoy the picturesque north east scenery.

The cottage has a real country retreat feel, and this is very much evident when guests walk into it.

On entering, you arrive into the kitchen, and are struck by its colourful interior.

A short walk past the utility room, leads guests into the living/dining area, which has a feature fireplace and stone-flagged floor, further enhancing the warm country feel.

While in the summer guests can open up the patio doors to the great outdoors.

Located on the first floor are the cottages two bedrooms, the first is an antique-style double bed, with a lovely view of the garden and surrounding woodland.

While the other is a bunk bedroom, with pine furnishings.

Across the split staircase is the family bathroom.

The patio leads to the private garden, which is very well maintained, and its tranquil surroundings provide a nice spot for some lunch, or a spot of sunbathing.

At the back of the property is the Derwent Walk, off the Derwent River, which is a very popular tourist attraction for those who enjoy walking, cycling and wildlife.

While a taking a stroll along this stunning part of the country, keep an eye out for the red kites, a bird of prey who were re-introduced to the area between 2004-2007.

Another popular tourist spot is the National Trust site of Gibside.

The stunning 18th century landscape was designed with a purpose to amaze those who visit it.

Located just a 10 minute drive away, Gibside is a great day out, and has something for everyone, with it’s beautiful gardens, rich history and wildlife.

Beamish Museum is another brilliant place to visit, and offers a real insight into the history of the north east region from Victorian era to the present day!

Meanwhile the city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne with its fine shops, restaurants and nightlife is just a 30 minutes drive away via car.

The cottage really does have a lot to offer and guests will find it a superb place to stay when holidaying in the North East.
