  • "This is a really lovely cottage in a perfect location."

I was able to go out of the door past the garden, and straight onto the dunes with our dog. Or a short stroll in the other direction took me to the village green. And we loved the view of the sea from the living room. Perfect on lazy afternoons.

  • "Our opinion is because of the wooden stairs, the property isn’t suitable for dogs unless there is some carpet or safety anti slip tape added."

We all had to be very careful going up and down then and couldn’t let the dog use them unsupervised. The lounge upstairs could do with some additional sofa comfy style seating. The property was spotless and in a great location and everything in the property was a high standard.

  • "Whilst we enjoyed our stay, we were disappointed with a few points which had a negative impact on our holiday."

    1. The listing suggested dogs are welcome but upon arrival the information book and a sign stated that dogs are not allowed in the bedroom areas under any circumstances. This should have been stated in the listing online and not only upon arrival. 2. The garden is not attached to the property. This should also be stated in the listing ! 3. The stairs are steep and polished wood so not suitable for dogs or older people. I had to help my poor old dog down each time. He has no issues on carpeted stairs as these give grip. In summary, we did not find the property to be very dog friendly.

About the location

BAMBURGH

Seahouses 3.5 miles; Beadnell 5.1 miles; Alnwick 16.9 miles.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
