  • "A lovely, comfortable house in a beautiful village with all the equipment available that you could need."

The Jolly Fisherman is the only pub/restaurant you can walk to, but well worth it (pre-book), and Alnwick is still close enough to drive to for a meal out. Be aware that Craster has no mobile signal (3 different networks tried), but wifi is available in the house and at the Jolly Fisherman. Don't rely on Google maps to get you there, the GPS is delayed and you need to turn before you get the instruction and then the signal disapears completely. The only issue I have with the house, is with the cleaning, which was well below the standard I would expect. Although on the surface the house looked clean, we had to clean the fridge, microwave and shower room (amongst other things) before use. After saying this, once we had cleaned, it didn't spoil our holiday and it wouldn't put us off returning.

Hi, I am so please you enjoyed your stay. I am so sorry about the issues you had with the cleaning. We have taken this up with the cleaners and action has been taken. Many thanks Sophie and Peter Property Owner

  • "Broadly, we enjoyed our stay very much."

Cons: The dining table is supposed to seat six, we had five people and once we were all seated it was impossible to move around the table so the people on the end were in charge of serving etc. and that was fine, but if we had eight people (as per the beds available) we wouldn't have been able to sit together. My wife and I were sharing the en suite bedroom, it was impossible to walk normally around the bed. I had to side-step around the bottom and side to get in on my side. There is no window - only the door, so if you want fresh air at night, be aware you'll have an open door. My mother was in the front double bedroom and there was no dresser, I spotted in the next door house that there were baskets under their bed and suggested she look and so that's the wardrobe for that room if you need it. My brother + his partner were in the back double bedroom, they kept having to coordinate entering and leaving the room because there wasn't enough space to open the door and walk in because the bed was in the way. The doorknob for the family bathroom kept coming off when people would use it. There is a big coffee table in the middle of the seating area upstairs that cannot be reached from any of the sofas. We decided to do a jigsaw puzzle on it. Unfortunately, it was slightly too tall for someone to sit on the floor next to it and it was slightly too short to sit on a chair and work on the puzzle too. We ended up kneeling on cushions. Basically, it is uncomfortable to move around the house. It has everything one needs, but there's a claustrophobic feeling about the place even though there's plenty of room. The kitchen extractor fan hood is giant and made of glass and two of our party regularly hit their heads on it. There is only one clothes airer that we could find and when we did one little load we had to get creative with hanging it up to dry. Pros: The location is brilliant, we'd each check our sea view from the one window every day. The open space upstairs was a real joy to share with each other. The number of windows and light coming in was lovely and made for a cheerful space. The kitchen facilities were very good and we had no trouble producing some great meals. There were soaps, towels, loo roll, dish washer tabs, sponges etc. all included so we didn't need to worry about those things. The house is cozy and warm and when it was stormy out we were glad to be indoors.

Hi Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am pleased to hear that you did enjoy your stay. I am sorry that the house was not as you had expected. The house is as advertised in the pictures and mostly we receive very positive feedback about the house. We certainly take on board your point about the lock on the bathroom and this shall be fixed. Thanks Sophie and Peter Property Owner

Coastal walks from the door. Jolly Fisherman highly recommended- good food and great service. Agree with most of the earlier reviews. Only four of us for this stay, so plenty of room. Sophie available if we had any questions.

  • "Very well furnitured with good appliances."

A lot of thought has gone into the presentation of the house. It was the little things that were missed.Silly little toilet roll holders on a steel spike that was very difficult to pick off the floor next to the toilet. No baskets in the shower, you had to put things on the floor.A rubber mat would be useful for the shower floor. One big thing that missing was storage space in the kitchen for food .A house for six people would have a problem dealing with a Sainsbury deliverery. These items do not spoil the holiday but would make things easier. It still is a very nice house

Hi Michael, Thank you for your feedback. We have new shower holders on their way. As for the kitchen storage, we have tried our best to keep some cupboards clear for guest storage. Thanks again Sophie and Peter Property Owner

The location was perfect for exploring beautiful Northumberland. We loved the village of Craster and nearby Dunstanburgh Castle. Just a short walk for Craster kippers and The Jolly Fisherman which served delicious food (book in advance)! The cottage was beautiful, clean, comfortable with everything we needed for a short break. Outdoor space, easy to park, and a view of the sea one of the windows upstairs! Highly recommended!!!

The house is modern and tastefully decorated. On a practical level all appliances, including the central heating are all simple to use. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you might need. Even the cooker was easy to use! No need to google instructions! The location is wonderful. We have stayed all over Northumberland but it was a real treat to be in the centre of Craster. Would highly recommend this house. The owners clearly take pride in making sure everything is ready for the next guests. Would love to stay again in this house.

It is in an ideal location close to the little harbour beach to build a few sandcastles and for a spot of crabbing. Close to several lovely beaches which are also accessible by bus from the village. All in all a lovely place to stay whilst exploring the area. Thank you.

  • "Lovely property in a great location and you can even see the sea from the lounge!"

Loved the open plan set up in the living area and it was a really pleasant place to be. Great to have quality matching glasses, plates, cutlery etc. and the appliances are high quality too. 6 of us stayed and our kids are 12 and 16 so it got a bit cosy at times and with 8 of you I can see it feeling a bit cramped. Overall the property is precisely as advertised and was nice and clean on arrival although one bedroom had a pile of nail clippings lurking behind a door. Not to put anyone off though, we would stay again without a doubt. Great holiday.

So pleased you loved the location and enjoyed your stay. We are so sorry about the nail clippings. That isn’t nice to find at all. We will speak to the cleaners to ensure this doesn’t happen again. We hope to see you again soon. Sophie and Peter Property Owner

The off-road parking was a bonus. Craster is beautiful and great coastal walks directly from the front door. Bedrooms are very small so 8 people would be a squeeze.

Thank you so much for your positive comments, it's lovely to hear that you like the modern comforts as much as we do and that parking was convenient for you. We have made every effort to ensure that the property is advertised in it's true light. I would definately be happy to return to this property. The property is advertised as sleeping 8, which it does. However I do not feel it accommodates 8 guests as there was not enough lounge seating for 8, two of the bedrooms had no wardrobes and double bedrooms were cramped for 2 people. There were only 4 of us therefore these matters did not cause us any problems.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We do have another chair on order for the lounge, but due to COVID its delivery been delayed. Property Owner
