  • "A lovely cottage in the centre of Morpeth , minutes from bus station, supermarkets, local shops & cafes."

Very clean with lovely towels & linen. Loads of crockery & utensils. Clear instructions for operation of TV & wifi etc. The owner's messages were friendly, prompt & offering help but we didn't have any problems. A lovely, relaxing week. Thank you.

  • "This is a great place to stay, we were 3 friends just chilling for the weekend and that’s exactly what we did at 1A Chantry Place."

The cottage is very comfortable, huge bathroom with separate shower cubicle. We were more than happy with the 3 bedrooms. We had to message Steve the owner as we couldn’t quite work the tv, he called at the cottage and showed us what to do! Morpeth is a busy little town with everything you could need on the doorstep. Having the 2 parking spaces outside the cottage was brilliant. We would happily come back to the cottage.

We loved the location and there are some excellent restaurants nearby. I think we would probably book again as it’s a great North East base and very reasonably priced too.

  • "This cottage is in a fantastic location and we really liked the town of Morpeth and the Northeast."

Despite being in the town it is quiet and secluded. The cottage is really nice and generally spacious but the kitchen and dining table would be a bit tight for 6. The cooker / oven / fridge / microwave all worked fine but we agree with other comments that there is not an over abundance of utensils. Also no bin bags, washing up liquid or dish cloths and only one tea towel. Agree with others comments about difficulty of getting normal channels (including radio) on the TV but since we don’t generally watch TV it wasn’t an issue for us. Overall a really good place to stay and we would definitely recommend.

  • "A great cottage in fabulous Morpeth right in heart of everything."

Unfortunately never met Steve due to time of arrival but cottage was clean, tidy & close enough to many excellent restaurants no more than at most 5-10 mins away. Bonus was the parking spaces, we were only one vehicle so this was doubly excellent. 1st cottage we have arrived at where toilet paper, toilet duck, kitchen towel, hand wash, washing up liquid aswell as towels also provided such a pleasant surprise as bought all this from home as have always had to buy previously. Steve was brilliant in contacting us prior to arrival and answered any questions we had, would not hesitate to go back to the cottage, Morpeth or Northumberland, stunning part of the country had a real impression on us.

  • "Superbly situated next to Morpeth Chantry."

Very comfortable beds and sofas. Only two main minuses: 1. No food preparation tools apart from a measuring jug that wasn’t suitable for use in a microwave. I had to buy £50 worth of very basic equipment: colander ( which I left), hand whisk, scissors, pasta / bacon tongs, cheese grater etc, mixing spoon etc. as you can see, very basic. 2. The door seal and dispenser drawer of the washing machine were rife with mould. I managed to clean them enough so I was happy to use it but it took a lot of elbow grease. We loved the ‘secret room’ with the dollhouse! It’s obvious the house is very old and has been altered a great deal. We would have loved some information on the history of the house and how it was changed from its original. For instance, who carved their initials on the overmantel? We’d definitely stay there again but I’d raid my kitchen drawers first!

Perfect location, lovely cottage just a 2 minute walk from the high street. Lovely eateries in walking distance and very friendly locals. Would recommend and would stay again. • "Lovely town, property genuinely well positioned and presented very well."

Town centre position comes with price of some noise (bridge pathway, local attraction, pub, takeaway, cafe, rear of businesses and restaurants all within 1 minute walk), but we didn't find this intrusive. Town on level ground except short decline up to station. The 'garden' is literally all you see on page 25, no bigger than many flat balconies. Its overlooked by neighbours so lacks privacy, but as we were out a lot enjoying the area and beyond it didn't really trouble us. Neighbours were friendly. Walk-in shower very modern, high powered. Missed a 2nd wc, though only bathroom has seoerate bath & shower. The twin room beds were adequote for children, but as smaller than expected they may not suit an adult. Lounge very comfortable, spacious, large hi-tech smart TV. Overall accomodation is equipped well, spacious, bright and welcoming. Highly recommend Morpeth as a base and lovely attractive, well equipped beautiful town. Hire a boat to row from riverbank in town recommended. 'The Office' pub opposite property is recommended - an easy stagger home!

  • "Property was lovely but a few minor improvements can be made to cleanliness."

Dishwasher was dirty. We didn’t use it but did empty it and lift food wrappers and lids out. Small details like dusting mirror frame in kitchen would make a difference. On stripping the bed in the king size room, the mattress protector had a large stain which was not nice. We did thoroughly enjoy our stay but little things make for a better experience.

  • "The position and the cleanliness of the property was excellent."

Beds were comfortable, loads of room to store clothes, bathroom, shower very good. The white carpets all through were "challenging" but illustrated how clean the property was. The one let down was the lack of kitchen equipment, cutlery, china etc. There were only 2 of us but if we book again, and we aim to, a teapot that holds 2 and a half cups maximum is hardly adequate. We will also bring our slow cooker and a pair of kitchen scissors!!

Definitely one of the best cottages we have ever rented. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly, and I would highly recommend the cottage. Unfortunately the same cannot be said of Sykes. Upon return from the holiday they were supposed to send us a code to enable us £40 off a future booking with them. Over 6 weeks later and after numerous phone calls to them, each time being promised it would be sorted out, I'm still waiting for this code. Their customer service is abysmal to the point of being non existent. I had exactly the same problem in July after a holiday booked with them then and that took over two months to resolve. How much time or intelligence does it take to email a code to me ? Come on Sykes, sort yourselves out!!!

Morpeth is a hidden jewel in the north east. The high street was one minute away, as was the lovely Carlisle Park and the river. The cottage was spacious and well equipped. As a family of two adults and two older teenagers the only improvement would be a second bathroom, but I appreciate that this is not possible, and it didn’t affect our enjoyment. We would definitely recommend and return.
