The property was just what we wanted. Car parking in public places was fine if you had a blue card, otherwise you were limited to 3 hours maximum at a time. However overnight stay is free.

Anyone can wander into Wheatsheaf yard and sit on the decked area which is immediately outside the large living room window.

Dear Margery, I am really sorry but the area is for residents only so people should not have been wandering in. We will take it up with the owner of the yard and get a private sign made as that should not have happened. Again, we are very sorry this happened. Robert Property Owner

  • "Thank you for your flexibility on our arrival time."

When we rented the car in Durham I had anticipated it would take longer to drive to Morpeth. The cottage was very comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. It met our needs on all levels. We'd never been to Morpeth, really just selected it as a location due to it's access to trains, it's size being small enough to be quaint, but large enough to have shops and restaurants, pretty walks and historic interest. I was surprised that the cottage could be so central to town and yet, so secluded and quiet. We explored the castle mound, walked the river, and St. Mary's cemetery. We ate a many of the restaurants, all were quite good. Our favorite day though was the drive to Wallington, the last day open before closing till spring. The house and grounds were magical. The art in the home was so surprising. The Pre-Raphaelite murals were breathtaking. Thank you for everything.

Thanks so much, a shame I didn’t meet you when I called to say hello, although I did meet your daughter . Hope to see you another time! Thanks again, Robert. Property Owner

Despite being in the centre of town the property is very peaceful and quiet. Well equipped and comfortable, it made a great resting place and base for exploring the beautiful Northumberland countryside combined with the convenience of all the amenities of Morpeth being literally on your doorstep. No issues encountered with parking. Will definitely be back

The plumbing was very noisy and it took forever for hot water to reach the bathroom sink. Neither of these were ruinous but they did effect our overal opinion. Positives however were plentiful, the property was very clean, comfortable and perfectly placed for everything we wanted to do in the area, it is a shame that it does not have dedicated parking but we didnt have any problem finding a space. The neighbours were lovely and really helpful. This property still deserves praise and a high recommendation.

The cottage is well placed to visit all the attractions in Northumberland with the benefit of having a quaint town, with lots of shops and restaurants to use during your stay. We visited the Indian Restaurant a stones throw away, as well as the fantastic Greek Taverna No5 just around the corner. Robert is a fantastic host, friendly and helpful. The car parking is on the road just around the corner from the property, we felt safe leaving our car there overnight. The neighbours are lovely and very friendly. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay in the heart of a lovely Town. We will definitely visit again.

As it is very close to the A it was easy to get to and to travel from the various places of interest. The accommodation was in an excellent in the town centre as it meant that all the shops and restaurants were close by. We didn't find the parking an issue, Robert kindly saved us a parking space when we first arrived and we were able to use it every night apart from one night. We parked for one night in a free car park that was only 5 mins walk away. Robert was very kind and gave us a parking permit to use at Morpeth and another one to use in various car parks in Northumberland. The accommodation was excellent for our needs, was clean and had everything we needed. I would recommend the accommodation to anyone

  • "Lovely cottage in a really nice court yard."

Parking was a little tricky, we managed to get a space on the street in a loading bay, and then had a few trips to and from the cottage, but had to leave one of us with the car at all times. Couldn't get a residents parking space as I think there are only a few, so had to park in the public car park and walk back to cottage with dogs and shopping, so not ideal. As you can only park for a max of 3 hours we had to remember to keep going back to the car, but the traffic warden was really helpful when we arrived and said to go back to the car after 6pm and change the time on the parking permit to 8am for the following day and then that would give us until 11am the following morning. But we soon got into the swing of it so it was fine. The cottage is lovely, no outside space for dogs, but ours are really well behaved so it wasn't an issue. Everything we needed in the cottage, and very comfortable, was lovely to be able to just walk straight out into the town, so very handy when we needed anything. Great park down the road to walk the dogs, we were only there as we were property hunting, so not really a holiday.

It is well equipped and very comfortable. Robert checked that all was well and dealt quickly with a minor problem. Parking was not too much of a challenge with a parking permit provided for Oldgate, and a free 24 hour car park not far away (St James Car Park at the top of Newgate Street). A great way for us to spend some time back in my former home time.

It was amazingly quiet and secluded but so convenient being right in the town. Morpeth is very friendly and pretty. Our two poodles enjoyed lovely walks in the park and became great friends with the staff in three pet shops. The town is really dog friendly and there were plenty of places to eat.The Black and Grey was lovely. We had no difficulty with parking. Robert, the owner was most helpful with the luggage and settling us in. He provided a residents parking permit. We were visiting relatives so did not go far afield but there are magnificent places to visit nearby which we have visited in the past. This is a lovely venue which we hope to visit again.

  • "We had a great time at this cottage!"

It's well enough equipped, there is a toaster and there had been a pint of milk in the fridge for our first tea and there will be christmas decoration in december, I'm sure! (Just for those, who have read the old comments.) If you miss anything, the friendly owner will help you! The cottage is located fantastic: in the very centre of the town, little shops and supermarkets at the doorstep, river Wansbeck and Carlise Park just around the corner. The train station is a short walk away and the bus station just some minutes. Good place, if you travel without a car! Warkworth was worth the visit; Alnmouth too and of course Newcastle. If you happen to be in Morpeth at a first wednesday of the month: don't miss the kind ladies at the bagpipe museum playing their smallpipes! The people in Northumberland were very friendly, our neighbour was a very lovely lady!

I don’t think the cottage is suitable for dogs at all. Parking is terrible, on arrival we couldn’t get parked and the loading bay had cars parked on it so was a nightmare getting unloaded. Wouldn’t book again for all the above reasons.

  • "Wheatsheaf Yard is very pretty and quiet, even though it is right in the centre of town it is well tucked away."

The cottage itself is very clean but it felt very much like the temporary accommodation it is, rather than a home from home. The beds are comfortable but the double bed is let down by far too small a duvet, we actually bought one to use whilst there. The kitchen, however, is well equipped. The location of the cottage is excellent, a good base to explore Northumberland and the town of Morpth itself is interesting, Carlisle Park is very pretty with lovely riverside walks. There are plenty of shops and supermarkets within easy walking distance which is very handy for anyone self-catering. There is no option for parking at the actual property and a 'residents only' ticket is provided to park very close to the cottage. However, if all the spaces are taken things can become somewhat fraught. Fortunately, this only happened to us once and, as visitors, we were unaware of alternate parking options. On balance, this is a beautiful part of the country and the cottage is fine for a couple, however, I would not stay here for any longer than a few days.

  • "Great location for exploring Morpeth, the cottage is nicely appointed and being set within a courtyard, away from the main road it felt very calm and peaceful."

As stated parking is not available on site but we did not have any problems finding a space in one of the highlighted long stay car parks. The cottage lacked the little welcoming touches that can make a stay with not even a bottle of milk being provided. There were a couple of cosmetic things within the cottage that required attention. Staying over Christmas and the premium attached to a stay during the festive period we had hoped the cottage would have been decorated accordingly and this definitely took the shine off the start of our holiday. Nevertheless it is nice enough cottage.

It was in the middle of Morpeth but, tucked away in a very pretty yard. Robert our host, met us on arrival and carried our bags in for us. He explained where we could park and provided parking passes and although the cottage doesn't have its own parking, we had no problems at any time during our stay. Robert even stood in a space for us when we arrived so that we could move the car round immediately after unloading! The decor is modern and very much to our taste and the beds were very comfortable. Morpeth was a great place to be based to explore Northumberland with easy access to the A1 or a quick walk to the bus and train stations if you prefer to leave the car behind. Robert checked by text during the week to make sure everything was ok, which it was, and was genuinely concerned that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We were sad to leave this morning and I'm sure we will be revisiting this charming cottage that felt like home.

Parking is not available at the property, but can easily be found in one of the nearby carparks. The cottage itself is quite nicely decorated, but lacks some basic equipment, ie decent toaster, enough cutlery etc - which is fine if you do not plan to cook, but limiting if you do. Considering cottage has been recently renovated, it is starting to look tired, and the cleaning between tenants could be done more thoroughly. I would have liked to have seen some basic provisions provided, or even a starter pack as is quite typical in other Sykes Cottages. Other than that we had an enjoyable week and the small downsides did not spoil our holiday.
