  • "A lovely cottage in woodland surroundings."

You will need a car to get to beaches, shops and restaurants. Berwick-upon-Tweed is not far by car and we would recommend walking around the walls of the town where there are great views- put dogs on leads though as there are some sheer drops. The cottage is great with everything you need for a self catering holiday. The hot tub was a bonus and welcome after walking the coastal paths which provided great scenery. A lovely area to explore.

  • "Had a fantastic 7 nights at Dove cottage with my partner."

It is an absolute gem of a place with longed for rest, peace, quiet and beauty. Loved the quirky pictures and decor inside, fab range of books to read with comfortable bed and linen. Hot tub was spotless and good jet pressure using Bromine, not chlorine in water cleaning, so better on the skin. Garden and surrounding grounds are just lovely and mainly just hearing the bird song with a morning cuppa is just magical. Owner contacted us as tree surgery work needed to be carried out in the garden and made sure this was okay and would cause little convenience to our holiday. Lovely man!!! Did have slight issues with cleaning, as could visibly see dirt in certain parts of kitchen and bathroom. Considering properties are meant to be getting enhanced cleaning, this wasn't even good for a standard clean. Did contact Sykes and emailed pictures for them and owners to see. This in no way spoiled our full experience of Dove cottage and our need to come back. Would be back in a heart beat and hope to be back in the next year if possible. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

A lovely basket of goodies welcomed us and we had everything we needed for our weeks stay including a fab hot tub in the secluded enclosed garden. A big Morrissons was a twenty minute drive away for supplies, although there was a good Co-op in Eyemouth. We also enjoyed a day trip to Edinburgh and playing some of the selection of board games in the evening. Everyone one we met was really friendly and we would come back to this area and stay at Dove Cottage again.

  • "Dove Cottage is very tranquil and peaceful, set in a beautiful location."

There are plenty of walks from the cottage and the garden, paddock and orchard was perfect for our dog to play in. She had the best time exploring all of the garden and the squirrels and owls had her fascinated. We went into Coldingham, St Abbs and Eyemouth all of which were pretty, again with lots of walks. The pubs in Coldingham normally allow dogs in but given we were there at Christmas they didn't as they were too busy. The cottage itself is comfortable and clean and the views from the sitting room into the garden and woods are lovely. The hot tub in the garden is clean and well maintained. The kitchen is small but has just about everything you'd need - we stayed over Christmas and managed to cook Christmas dinner without too much hassle. We did need to buy a couple of things we needed but it was easy enough to get to Berwick to do so. The burner in the dining room was a nice addition not that we needed to use as the heating system in the cottage was really effective and the rooms were lovely and warm throughout our stay. The people living in the neighbouring lodges were very friendly and informative about the local area. Couple of minor negatives - the TV is wall mounted and can only be comfortably viewed from a couple of seats in the living room, and there wasn't a DVD player but again not huge issues. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

  • "We had never visited Scotland before and we had never rented a cottage, as a holiday home, but after this trip we will be going back to Scotland and will always be looking to stay at Dove Cottage!"

We had a very long journey to Coldingham from Dartford but as soon as we saw the location and the very quaint cottage itself, we knew every mile of the journey was worth it and that was just our first impression. On entering the cottage we were wowed with how beautifully decorated and designed the cottage was and instantly felt relaxed and at home and the welcome hamper was greatly received. The cottage was impeccably clean and for its size felt very spacious. The log fire in the kitchen/dining area made the whole cottage feel cozy and warm, especially in the evenings when the temperature dropped and our dogs loved snuggling up together in that room. We both knew that whoever owned this property, had put a lot of love and pride into making a beautiful home, which we are so grateful for and for having the opportunity to stay there and call our home, if but for a few days. The magic of Dove Cottage does not end with the inside, oh no, the garden and the surroundings on opening the back door, blew us away. To have a garden with its own wood, wonderful jacuzzi and its own meadow with a beautiful stream running by it was unbelievable. My expectations of what to expect, were completely surpassed. We had some wonderful days out to St Abbs, Berwick Upon Tweed, Burnmouth and Coldingham Bay and all of the places we visted had breathtaking views, that will stay in my memory forever. I do have to mention Bill, the owner of Dove Cottage. From the moment I had communication with Bill about our stay, I felt very confident that as a owner/host, nothing would be to much trouble for Bill and kept us completely informed on everything about the cottage and things to do in and around the area. Bill's attention to detail was amazing, in ensuring that our stay at his cottage was amazing and he succeeded 100%. We had the best relaxed trip ever and would highly recommend Dove Cottage as a place to stay to everyone. We loved it that much, when we got home, we booked another weeks stay at Dove Cottage for 2020 and we cannot wait to go back, only 359 sleeps to go.

It had a Luxury feel to it especially with the hot tub. The beds are very comfortable and everything was supplied leaving us not needing to buy salt, pepper, toilet roll etc. The cottage is far out from the bigger towns but if your a walker and want to relax this is amazing. The TV is smart and will connect to your Netflix account. The heating system is on a smart link so comes on as and when needed. The open fire is fantastic for drying in the kitchen. The bin which my dog loved is auto opening and he had fun walking by that!! Just luxury after luxury. You need to book this if your wanting to visit Scotland.

Set in woodland with nice walks from the doorstep around the castle grounds and surrounding areas. Hot tub is great after a days walking or exploring East Lothian. Accommodation is warm and cosy and has almost all you would need for your stay. Only slight criticism would be height of main TV on wall. It doesn't make for comfortable veiwing. All in all though a wonderful cottage. We hope to be back.

  • "When we arrived at the cottage, everything was lovely."

Spotlessly clean and a basket of treats on the table . It is perfectly situated as a Gatehouse, and as people came by were all very friendly. Unfortunately Storm Ali hit while we were there and brought down a tree branch by the gate but no one was hurt , and the hot tub lost it's cover a couple of times, but we sorted that. There is a lovely beach at Coldingham which we would definately recommend, and as I have a disabled badge we were able to park right down at the beach where the cafe and toilets are, which is always worth knowing. It is a lovely relaxing place in its own little garden area.

  • "Dove Cottage is a gem."

The location is fantastic. It is the old gatehouse to a Scottish Castle. It has it's own field and an area by a stream which is available to relax by. Inside the cottage has a kitchen/diner with a multi-fuel stove and a TV on the wall. The kitchen part is small but well equipped with an electric cooker, fridge freezer and a dishwasher. It has two good sized bedrooms with plenty of storage space. The lounge is comfortable and, unusually for a holiday cottage, has a 52" modern television on the wall. The lounge has patio doors leading to a private area with table and chairs for when the weather is good. There are local walks across the road in a forest and plenty of nearby walks around the coast. The nearest town id Berwick on Tweed which is worth a visit. Dove cottage is a great place for a holiday.

  • "The cottage is one of the best we have stayed at in the UK."

It had all the facilities that would be required for a complete self-catering holiday, but we tended to eat out mainly. The location is superb with the back garden backing onto a small pine forest, and a much larger one just across the road. The adjacent paddock leads down to a small river, although the water level was quite low during our visit. Coldingham Bay, St Abbs, Eyemouth and Berwick are just a short drive away and great for days out. Our Border Collie, Louie, absolutely loved this holiday and we will certainly be returning to Dove Cottage. By the way, the welcome basket when we arrived was incredible. We thoroughly recommend staying at Dove Cottage. Malcolm and Carol - and Louie. Sheffield
