  • "Beautiful cottage in a well placed location."

So cosy and comfortable, a home away from home! The cottage is so pretty inside, such attention to detail. Great views across the fields from the lounge...we loved sitting and watching the hares of an evening.

  • "Twincote is a delightful cottage, conveniently situated on the main road between Wooler and Milfield with great views over the valley."

The cottage is clean, comfortable and very well equipped. Perfect for a couple. It was nicely warm on arrival and the woodburning stove was an added bonus. The welcome pack was smashing and included an Easter bunny and Easter eggs. Thank you. WiFi would make this the perfect retreat. We came last year too and will certainly come again.

  • "Had a very relaxing holiday at Twincote."

House was very clean and homely with nice little touches. Loved the inglenook fireplace which was set for us to use. It was a very cosy place without the fire but was lovely to sit with a roaring fire which we both loved. Big thank you for the wine and chocolate biscuits that were left for us. We thoroughly enjoyed both and would highly recommend this quirky home which was close to all the places to visit Yvonne and George

  • "Despite the weather we enjoyed our visit and as already stated a lovely cosy cottage."

Clean and well kept. Only problem we could see is that the parking area is tight if you have a big or estate car. Would highly recommend to anyone.

We can depend on the weather for letting us down but we're pleased you were able to have a lovely holiday in Northumberland. Thank you for your recommendation too, appreciated. Property Owner

Drive for car only suitable for small cars. Would definitely stay again if in the area. Central for visiting many attractions.

Thank you for your feedback. We have trimmed back the bushes in the parking bay so that it is back to its full size and can accommodate larger cars again. Pleased you had a lovely holiday Property Owner

  • "This is a good base for visiting lots of places."

Twincote is a nice little place, however if you are a tall person (or even shorter like myself at 5’3”) there are a few bumping head hazards. My husband at 6’3” spent practically the whole 7 days walking stooped over. Getting in and out of the shower was a task in itself. The Cottage had quite an off putting old smell when first walking in. The kitchen sink wasn’t too clean,I felt the need to clean it myself, the dishcloth was quite dirty afterwards. We actually left it cleaner than when we arrived. It was brown from I suspect tea/teabags being left/tipped down it and there was food crumbs stuck to the bottom of the bowl. The upstairs however, was spotlessly clean. The bed & pillows very comfortable. Had no qualms about sleeping on it. Great to have a parking space but very difficult to park in it as quite tight, especially as it’s on a very busy road. Wouldn’t suit a bigger vehicle.

Hello, I truly apologise for the shortfalls you found in the kitchen. We were on holiday ourselves so had different cleaners do the cottage and obviously didn't do the task in hand to our usual high standard. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the 'quirky' features of Twincote and i hope the bumped heads weren't so bad. We have since trimmed back the foliage around the parking bay which has cleared the parking bay so that it easily accommodates larger cars. Property Owner

It was clean and comfortable. The view is wonderful and the sun room and binoculars a bonus. Very friendly owners. A very thoughtful welcome pack. Quite a busy road but off road parking a real bonus.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We hope you were able to catch sight of the barn owl hunting over the fields in the evenings? Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful few days at Twincote."

The cottage was perfect for a couple. It is well equipped, comfortable and beautifully furnished with exquisite taste. Easy off road parking for one car. The woodburner was a bonus but not really needed as the electric heaters were excellent. The sun lounge was delightful with fabulous views across the valley. WiFi would have been an added bonus, but it kept us off the Internet for a few days. Overall, we would definitely book again and recommend the cottage without hesitation.

Parking access difficult from busy road. Low wall could be removed to widen car park space. A better information pack would help. I.e it’s one thing to tell how to turn hot water on. It’s another to find it when not told where it is! Small thing, but would have been helpful. This cottage had least info and most unclear of any cottage we have stayed in.

It is ideally located for visiting the many castles, such as Alnwick, Bamburgh, Chillingham and Dunstanburgh, and the wonderful coastal sites such as Holy Island and the Farne Islands. The only slight negatives [hence, 4 stars, rather than 5] are the lack of wifi, and the need to manoeuvre round the sloping ceilings in the bedroom and ensuite - but we had a lovely holiday at this charming cottage.
