  • "Very nice property and would stay again if in the area"

  • "Had a great week staying in Eureka mews, very clean and comfortable and an excellent base."

The only minor thing we found that was missing was coasters to put hot drinks on. Most holiday let's usually have a information pack giving details of places to visit, local pubs and places to eat and local walks etc, there was no information at all. But would definitely stay here again and recommend.

  • "A very nice apartment, easy to find, well stocked with gadgets."

Secure parking was a bonus. Close to friendly, dog friendly, pub. Good communication from owner.

  • "The apartment was super and well located for seeing the sights."

Only problem was that all the cupboards were positioned for tall people which made access difficult for someone of average height like me. The freezer was so iced up that the drawers would not open. Despite any of this we would come again and recommend it to anyone else. Superb holiday

'Glad to hear you would book again Mrs Murgatroyd and that you recommend the apartment. We look forward to seeing you again. Sorry to hear you could not reach some of the kitchen cupboards. Unfortunately, they are the standard height from a major UK kitchen company, so they are meant to be suitable for all. My wife Emma who is 5 feet 5 manages to reach the top shelf OK.' Property Owner

  • "Bedrooms very modern and clean, well presented-like a hotel room!"

Facilities all as described. This location is under-rated for access to many great places to visit in County Durham. Lovely family & dog friendly dog 5 mins walk, small well stocked shop 1 min walk & large shopping centre (Arnison Centre) 5 mins in car. Not to mention Durham city centre 10 mins by car. Also, small park across the road for exercising dog & children!

  • "Perfect location for us to visit family but also very easy to get into Durham city or the Arnison Centre without taking the car."

The apartment has great facilities, including two very good bathrooms, and was a quiet haven to come back to. Excellent and secure car parking on site and a little shop 3 doors down which literally stocks one of everything. There are lots of walks within close distance and a decent pub a 5 minute walk away. Our thanks to the cleaner who had the place spotless for our arrival.

  • "Comfortable stay at Eureka Mews - liked the fact there was secure parking."

The apartment was nicely decorated and well equipped with good wi-fi. The flat information mentioned a visit by a cleaner and a linen change but that didn’t happen. It’s in a very handy position for Durham (15 mins) and Newcastle (25mins). The owner , Nigel, is very friendly. Close to local amenities with a village shop/ post office and pub five minutes away. Good Indian restaurant 10 minutes drive away at Chester Moor.

  • "Great location, just a 10-15 minute bus ride from the city centre."

The 21 bus runs every 15 minutes from the Red Lion pub about 5 minutes walk from the flat and terminates at the bus station so very convenient Durham is a ton of 2 halves but once over the bridge it is lovely with the breath taking cathedral and lovely riverside walks. Highly recommend The Cellar Door restaurant (under Zizi's and next to the gents outfitters) for superb food and reasonable prices e.g. set menu for 3 courses is £18 pp Being a ground floor flat I wouldn't recommend this property in the heat wave we stayed for as you can't really open windows, however that said it is a very comfortable flat, with 2 showers / bathrooms which is a bonus.

  • "The apartment was very spacious, the owner very helpful and we could not have wished for a more pleasant place to stay."

It was good to have secure parking. The friendly village was a former mining village, but you only had to walk or drive a couple of miles to encounter beautiful scenery and very quiet roads. It was useful to have a shop very nearby and the Red Lion pub was dog friendly as well as people friendly and we enjoyed our meals there. We spent two days at Beamish, and also loved Gibside, an interesting National Trust property. We enjoyed Bowlees Visitor Centre, and the lovely walk from there to Low Force and High Force waterfalls. We were very pleasantly surprised at the coastal resort of Seaham, which has been transformed from a derelict mining area to a beautiful seaside resort.

Would thoroughly recommend both the house we use and Sykes in general - we have booked through Sykes for many years and have never had anything less than a superb break. Will be back next year!

  • "We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property."

It is very well situated and great for easy travel to both Newcastle and Durham. The apartment is very well furnished and has everything you might require including dishwasher, washing machine etc. The local area is extremely friendly and the local pub (3 mins walk) did not disappoint either. We hope to return.

  • "Very well situated being only 3 miles north of the city centre of Durham, which allows for easy access by car or a god location for visiting the area."

However there is a bus stop only 30 metres from the apartment with a service taking direct into the city. The apartment is very well appointed with all the comforts of home, with secure parking.

  • "Place was very clean and well set out."

Great to have secure parking. Good location. Pubs, eating establishments, petrol station and shopping centre all relatively close by. TV reception was poor and internet seemed a bit slow on a couple of occasions but nothing that would spoil our holiday. So apart from these minor gripes would recommend.

  • "This is a modern and accessible apartment."

It is well and attractively furnished. Great location for Durham, the North Pennine dales, Beamish and Durham Heritage Coast, which are both beautiful and historic. Having returned to this area after 40 years, most of the traces of the heavy industrial past are gone, but the pride and memories of locals are strong. The Upper valleys of Tees, Wear and Tyne are stunning beautiful and so much less crowded than the Yorkshire Dales; hidden gems. A week of beautiful weather and clear blue skies helped! My only grumbles were traffic noise and the window blinds which let in early morning light. I would be happy to revisit this property.

  • "We were met at the property by Nigel as arranged."

The property was in excellent condition having just been re-decorated. The property had everything required to make our stay a pleasurable experience. Local information, reading material and DVD's were provided which were a nice touch. I would most certainly recommend this property to anyone visiting the northeast of England. The owners of the property should be very proud of the service that they provide, it is an outstanding apartment superbly presented. Many thanks to Nigel and his team.
