"I enjoyed a lovely, peaceful week away at Birds Nest."
A very well equipped, private and comfortable cottage with sheep as close neighbours. The owners were on hand if required and they took time to check in with me to make sure everything was okay as well as leaving a few welcome presents. I've been visiting lodges and cottages for a few years now and this was one of my better choices and would certainly go back.
"Lovely cosy cottage in a peaceful setting ideally placed for exploring the Scottish Borders."
Very well stocked and comfortable. Welcoming and friendly owner always on hand. Beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and sheep for neighbours. Perfect for a relaxing break.
"Great place, lovely cottage, well presented and maintained."
"Birds Nest had everything to make a perfect holiday."
Kitchen very well equipped. Whole property very clean, with comfortable beds and sofas. Total peace and quiet, with just the occasional noise from the sheep or the bird song. Wendy and family were very welcoming and friendly and always stopped to speak. You can watch lots of wildlife from the kitchen windows, one night we even spotted a weasel. There were many places to visit close by. Jedburgh is a beautiful town, with lots of shops and a fantastic butchers. Lots of Abbeys close by and we enjoyed visiting Kielder Water and The Hirsel Estate. We loved our stay and didn't want to return home, we hope to visit again in the future. Thanks
"Excellent cottage in great location."
Very Clean, comfortable and welcoming. Good base for exploring the Scottish Borders and Northumberland. Would recommend highly.
"Bird's Nest is an absolutely fabulous cottage."
It had everything we needed and everything was great quality. Little touches like providing salt and pepper, kitchen towel, tin foil and cling film in the kitchen, board games to while away the evenings made it like a home from home - these are the things we always forget! The kitchen is well equipped with good quality utensils and a good selection of dishes suitable for the number of people staying. Cannot fault this cottage. The owner was a delight and called by to ensure everything was okay.
"We had a lovely holiday."
The cottage is perfectly secluded with sheep and wildlife on your doorstep. Clean with everything you could possibly need - even an extra duvet is supplied if you feel the need. Perfect!
"A wonderful holiday cottage."
Very clean and well equipped. The surroundings were delightful as was the owner. The cows and sheep added to the rural scenery. A very quiet part of the Borders which we will be only to happy to visit again. Thank you to the hens for the fresh eggs!
"Thank you Wendy for a superb week at the cottage."
It was everything we could have wished for. Peaceful surroundings with plenty of wildlife, spotlessly clean and modern. The welcome pack was a lovely touch, especially the eggs from Wendy’s farm. I cannot think of a single negative and hopefully will be rebooking soon.
"“Birds Nest” is just perfect in every aspect."
It stands amidst stunning views with its own lovely garden where you can sit and immerse yourself in the beauty & nature around you. It is so peaceful. The cottage has absolutely everything you could need. The decor is very tasteful, it has a high standard of cleanliness, everything is spotless. The beds and sofas are so comfortable. The land around the cottage is well kept and teems with wildlife. It is a privilege to stay in this beautiful location. I cannot praise “Birds Nest” highly enough.
"Very comfortable cottage with wonderful views all around."
Lovely welcome pack which was much appreciated, so relaxing and peaceful. We enjoyed seeing the deer, hares and birds that came to the bird table. A real get away from hustle and bustle. We hope to return to Birds Nest and also bring the family to Falla House Farm. Thank you Wendy & family x
"Lovely cottage surrounded by stunning countryside."
The facilities and cleanliness are superb. The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful and I would highly recommend staying here.
"We had a lovely week at Birds Nest."
Much nicer than listed on your web site. This does not show what a fantastic position it is in, surrounded by lovely views and a nice garden to sit in with comfortable seating outside. The pictures you show does not come near to how lovely this property is. A very well fitted kitchen with double aspect windows to see fields and rolling hills with woodlands near and far. Bird feeders and table that was lovely to watch having breakfast. The lounge has two very comfortable two seater reclining settees. It was a lovely, clean and very comfortable property. The web site needs updating.
"We had a great stay at Birds Nest."
The cottage was really well equipped with everything that we needed. It was warm and cosy and very peaceful. The location was great for exploring the Borders and Northumberland.
"Superb place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life to chill and relax in a beautiful and comfortable cottage."
Very cosy, clean, well maintained with everything you need to relax and spend time away. Wendy and Willie very hospital hosts - would recommend to anyone wishing to explore the Scottish Borders - planning to return next year.

"We had a lovely stay at Birds Nest."
The cottage was warm and clean and had everything we needed. There was a lovely little welcome pack which was very thoughtful and it was lovely to meet the owner Wendy when she popped in after a couple of days to make sure we were happy with everything. The cottage is on a working farm and it was relaxing to have breakfast in the kitchen while watching the sheep grazing and birds on the feeder outside the window. Jedburgh is the nearest town around a 20 minute drive away and another 15 minutes on gets you to Tweedbank station with regular trains to Edinburgh, a 55 minute journey. All in all I very much recommend Birds Nest cottage and we are certainly planning to return again in the not too distant future.
"We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at Birds Nest the location and views were spectacular, thank you to our hosts for giving us very helpful advice about the area it was interesting to talk to them about their farming lifestyle."
We definitely had a very relaxing stay in the well equipped and comfy cottage and the weather was extremely kind to us .
"Amazing family holiday."
The cottage is beautiful and clean. The host Wendy was really helpful and thoughtful leaving us some chocolate and other bits for when we arrived. The wildlife you see around the cottage is amazing. Would definitely recommend
"This is one of the best cottages we’ve stayed in."
Beautifully decorated, very comfortable (the recliners in the sitting room are great), lovely beds, well equipped kitchen and plenty of outside space. The owners were very welcoming and had left eggs, milk, chocolates and wine. It was easy to find and we were treated to many sightings of hares, various birds, hawks and grouse. It’s very near Jedburgh for any shopping and Stewart’s Bistro is excellent for an evening meal. We’d love to go back.
"Had a fabulous week at Birds Nest."
The weather was kind to us so we were able to appreciate the beautiful location. The cottage had everything we needed and was immaculate. It’s actually better that the pictures show. The welcome goodies were appreciated. Would highly recommend. Thank You
"Exceptional cottage in beautiful location."
Stunning views from the well maintained private garden. Set within a working farm but quiet and peaceful, wildlife in abundance. The cottage is furnished and equipped to the highest standards, with everything you could want for a relaxing break. The owners Wendy and Willie are very friendly and will go out of their way to help and advise on places to visit. Would love to return.
"Quiet and peaceful."
Host left treats which was nice touch.
"Absolutely perfect holiday cottage and hosts, just what we were looking for to get away from it all for a few days."
The location is absolutely beautiful with hillside views all around and a great place to relax and unwind. The property is situated within the farm but is still very private and has everything you need for your stay, very well equipped and cosy! Situated just a few minutes off the main road but still feels very remote and quiet. We even managed to do a little star gazing on a clear night, we will definately be back in future! Wendy and Willie were great hosts and were kind enough to show us some of the farm and to pet the new born lambs even in a very busy period for them. All in all this is the best holiday let we have visited so far. Thanks for letting us stay!

Really enjoyed the the stay however few days after returning home received a message from sykes cottage informing me I had been reported for damaging the fridge which I know was perfectly fine when I left this experience has left a bitter taste the what was nice holiday
I have no desire to spoil anyone's holiday experience however as owner and cleaner of Birds Nest Cottage, with no one else accessing the property between guests, I therefore have no wish to comment further. I strive to continue with a high standard of maintenance and cleanliness to the property which is paramount. Property Owner
"Perfect, well equipped comfy cottage with amazing views."
Owners Wendy & Willie made us feel very welcome. Lovely country walks from cottage and in surrounding area. Log burner provided cosy nights in after busy days out and seats in garden provided the perfect spot to relax with drinks. Will definitely be back again soon.
"We've stayed in many cottages all over Britain and Bird's Nest ranks very highly among them."
It is very comfortable and warm, well furnished and appointed, with everything you could need for your home from home - including all you could need to make Christmas Dinner! There is also a super large Smart TV! Many thanks to Wendy and Willie for their kindness.
"It is a lovely place and one of the best."
I will definitely come back with my family.
"This was my second visit to Birds Nest and as before I found the property to be faultless."
Clean, warm, welcoming, quiet, with everything I could possibly need. Wendy very attentive and nothing too much trouble. I was very sorry to leave at the end of the week and will most certainly return.
"The holiday was the best in terms of cleanliness during these covid times."
The owner was meticulous in her cleaning of the cottage and we felt very safe. Beautifully situated on the farm and the cottage was extremely comfortable with all the facilities we needed. They could not have done more to make sure their guests have a first class stay.
"We had a brilliant stay at this cottage."
The owners were so friendly and helpful. Wendy couldn't do enough for us and took us out for a tour of the farm which was one of the highlights of our holiday. My one year old son enjoyed seeing all the sheep outside the cottage every morning, the setting is just lovely. The cottage was immaculate and extremely clean, and we were provided with a nice welcome pack. The cottage is comfortable and it is obvious a great deal of thought has been given to furnishings and storage space. I would highly recommend this cottage.
"A superbly well equipped, modern and clean cottage!"
One of the best we’ve ever stayed in!!!!
"Birds Nest is the best cottage that we have ever stayed in."
The owners (Wendy and Willie) are helpful, friendly and there if you need them. The cottage was spotlessly clean (you could smell the cleanliness as soon as you walked through the door). It is comfortable (we slept so well), homely and beautifully furnished. Plenty of towels are provided plus tea towel, hand towel and cloth/sponge/brush for washing up. A tremendous amount of thought has gone into the design with plenty of room for 4 people and many little nooks, crannies, cupboards and wardrobes for storage space. The cottage is fully equipped (with every gadget, pan, dish, piece of crockery and cutlery that you could think of) if you wish to be completely self-catering (there were even bun tins if you wanted to bake)! There’s a very large fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher - all very clean. An iron and board, vacuum cleaner, airer, washing basket and pegs, dustpan and brush are also provided. It really is a “home from home”. There’s an adjoining pretty, private garden (complete with a table, chairs and washing line) with stunning views. We would highly recommend Birds Nest. We have stayed in numerous cottages over the years and this is definitely the best - 11 out of 10!!
"Wendy the owner was very welcoming."
The welcome pack was brilliant. The cottage was in a lovely location. A super peaceful and relaxing holiday. We would recommend the Birds Nest cottage to all couples looking for a perfect get away.
"Simply pack your clothes, toiletries, food and maybe a couple of books or deck of cards, you don't need to take anything else - they even have a smart TV and wi-fi."
This little cottage is very well equipped and very comfortable, we settled in immediately and treated it like home. It was immaculate when we arrived and Wendy called by to welcome us personally to check we had all we needed. The welcome gifts were very much appreciated, especially the fresh eggs. We had days out to Jedburgh, Kelso, Galashiels, Melrose and Hawick. But also had a couple of pyjama days, just enjoying the cosy cottage, it's views and a few good books. I can't recommend this cottage enough if you want peace and quiet (it's a working farm, there are animals and quadbikes but they don't intrude), we basically wanted a week with no neighbours - bliss! The batteries are definitely recharged and we would like to go back again, this time take a tour of the farm and more of the immediate surroundings. Thank you so much for a lovely stay!
"The cottage felt like a home rather than a holiday cottage."
Welcome pack was lovely with a very nice bottle of wine included. The cottage was sparkling clean and the hosts very welcoming and have good suggestions for places to visit.
"Sykes Holiday Cottages were very helpful throughout the booking process."
A particular thank you to Claire who went above and beyond at a busy time to sort us out some new accommodation when the other fell through a week before our stay.
"Stayed at Birds Nest Cottage, setting is wonderful."
Very peaceful and relaxing. The cottage was like a home from home, very cosy. The owners have thought of everything, can't fault the place. Being on a working farm, I was surprised at how quiet it was. Fascinating watching the animals, and even got shown round the farm which my kids loved. Willie and Wendy are fantastic hosts, they make you feel very welcome and I would highly recommend a stay at this cottage.
"What a stunning cottage and the level of presentation is unrivalled , from the second you open the door it’s just pure bliss."
If there’s ever a example of excellence then this is it. Fantastic.
"Lovely cottage in a beautiful setting."
Had everything we needed for a comfortable, relaxing stay.
"We had a truly wonderful week at Bird’s Nest Cottage."
As soon as we arrived, we felt at home. The cottage was beautifully presented, comfortable, cosy and immaculately clean. Wendy, the owner, had thought of everything we could possibly need from a holiday cottage; there was also lots of storage space and parking. We discovered a welcome pack, which was a lovely touch, and even included wine and chocolates! Wendy popped down to check we had everything we needed and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is set on a working farm with stunning views from every window. We were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed a couple of relaxing days in the beautiful, private garden with cows in the field to the left and sheep to the right, which our daughter loved. We also enjoyed days out in nearby Kelso, Melrose, Jedburgh and Berwick. We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing week in this idyllic cottage and were very sad to be leaving. In fact our daughter wanted to live there! We’ve already started planning our next trip and hope to go when the weather’s a little colder so we can use the log-burner. Thank you Wendy and family for a perfect staycation!
"The Birds Nest was by far the best cottage we have ever stayed at (we've been using cottages for the past 15 years)."
The cottage was exceptionally clean and the decor was modern and comfortable. A fire had been laid in the log burner, a welcome pack left for us and the heating was on, it was so welcoming. Wendy popped by within a few hours to say hello and was very friendly and happy to answer any questions we had (even though she was really busy with calving). The views from the cottage were spectacular and it was lovely to be so remote, just what we wanted (and needed). Inside the cottage was immaculate with extremely comfortable beds (quality bedding) and a super shower (quality towels). Wendy & Willie had spared no expense with the facilities & utilities - everything needed was there and more! I would definitely recommend this cottage.
"Just back from a chilled out week at Birds Nest cottage the location is ideal for a get away from it all break."
The cottage was perfect for us including a welcome pack which was appreciated and substantial. Thank you to Wendy and Willie the owners.
"Excellent cottage, hosts (Wendy, Willie and family) could not have been nicer!"
Nothing was too much trouble. Our young children had "the time of their lives" and did not want to leave. The welcome pack was greatly appreciated - even more so because Storm Dennis had prevented us from getting any shopping! The cottage was cosy, clean and peaceful, which was everything we wanted. We are definitely returning to this "hidden gem!".
"Birds Nest cottage really did exceed our expectations!"
Wendy went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay and the extra personal touches were very much appreciated. The cottage is beautifully decorated and has everything you could possibly need. We had a wonderful long weekend at Birds Nest and would highly recommend this cottage!
"The photos do not do this cottage justice."
The best cottage we have stayed in and we have stayed in a few over the years. So well equipped and cosy ,comfortable beds.We had everything we could wan equipment wise for a self catering cottage. Wendy was an exceptional host, the welcome pack was a lovely surprise for Christmas, she even brought me a larger saucepan down to the cottage christmas eve when we arrived so I could boil our gammon ham. We hope to go back in 2021 for the lambing season as this cottage is on a working farm.
"A beautiful little cottage in a secluded farm, if you want peace this is your place, the views are stunning."
The cottage is well equipt, the welcome pack provided the basics to help up settle when we arrived on a very dark, wet evening. We WILL be going back. Wonderful !!!!
"This is a wonderful holiday cottage."
On a secluded farm at the end of its own road, it is very quiet apart from the sheep and cows. Bird’s Nest is simply the best-equipped holiday home we’ve ever stayed in, and we’ve been using Sykes for 11 years. Wendy and Willie are the perfect hosts, and the wonderful welcome pack was a bit like a treasure hunt - every time we opened a cupboard we found something else! The farm is perfectly located to visit many of the local towns, we went to Jedburgh, Kelso, Galashiels, Melrose and Hawick. If you want to go a little further afield we also had a day in Edinburgh and a day on Lindisfarne. All in all, a lovely holiday in a lovely cottage. I’m sure we’ll be back next year.
"My family and I have stayed in many holiday cottages and homes over the years but this has to be one of our favourites and for many reasons."
The cottage is easy to find and is beautifully presented inside and out, it is immaculate and we had everything we needed for our one week stay, there were no shortage of kitchen utensils etc, everything was very well thought out. We arrived to an outstanding welcome pack which was lovely with a lovely personal touch. The cottage is very comfortable and so cosy, a real home from home and the views from every single window are picturesque, we really enjoyed the log burner on the cold October evenings and there were plenty of extra logs available via the honesty box which we were grateful for. Our children loved visiting the animals on the farm and in particular Spirit the horse who they became fond of. There are many trails and walks in and around Birds Nest to go and have an explore either by foot or by cycle, (of course respecting the countryside code and avoiding the cows with their young). There is a small garden adjoining the cottage which I would imagine is delightful in summer when it's a little warmer. However, due to the lack of light pollution we wrapped up and enjoyed the dark skies and the stars, once our eyes adjusted we could see the milky way and lots of shooting stars. The Kielder Observatory is also worth a visit if you like this sort of thing and it isn't too far away. On our visit we visited North Berwick which we really loved and was really worth the hour and a half in the car to get there as we drove through the lovely autumnal Scottish countryside. We also visited Ryze trampoline park in Dunkleith which was really good and the kids really loved that, I'd recommend going for longer than an hour it's a big place with lots to do. We visited Rosslyn Chapel on the way back from Ryze and that was worth the visit (try to time your visit to enjoy the information talk within the chapel itself). We visited Jedburgh and the Gaol, Castle and Museum and Mary Queen of Scots House. For younger children there's a play area in Jedburgh near the car park (which is free), we also visited Kelso and some of the other small towns nearby. We had a lovely meal at the Hare and Hounds near Hawick which was really good. We ate an Italian lunch at 'Bella Italia' (not the chain) in North Berwick which was nice as they do a lunch special for two courses which was good value for us as a family of four. Depending on where you're travelling from the Life Museum in Newcastle is worth a stop for the day on the way home also. To sum up a wonderful place and cottage in a lovely part of the world. But most of all the little personal touches, the helpfulness, warmth and friendliness of the hosts is what made this place so lovely. Top notch, what a delight!
Warm well equipped cottage. Quiet. Will book there again with no hesitation. L by
"This is a lovely small cottage in the middle of a working farm."
It has all you need and is very relaxing. The owners are also lovely and ensure you have everything you need.
"This is a lovely house, everything about it being perfect for me."
The owner has considered everything one needs for self-catering, including a great storage cupboard for groceries, so many cottages fall behind in this respect. The quality of the fixtures and fittings is top-notch, outside there is plenty of space, giving good open views and potentially wonderful sunsets. The owner, who lives nearby, is very friendly which ensures a warm welcome. There is infinite peace here, with easy-to-reach footpaths from the door. There is plenty of good walking in the Cheviot hills not far away, where landscapes are far-reaching and deserted, ideal for the present-day thoughts on getting away-from-it-all and back to nature for mental well-being, something I have been brought up to know all my life. If castles and stately homes are desired then there are plenty not far away, with nearby Jedburgh being a very interesting place to visit. All in all an excellent memorable stay in lovely Scottish Border country.
"Excellent comfy cottage with a great outlook across the borders countryside and lots to see and do when out and about."
Helpful owners and there if required. Best welcome pack ever.
"We were looking forward to peace and quiet for a week and that's exactly what we got."
This was our third Sykes cottage and the standard was again exceptionally high. Birds Nest was well equipped and spotlessly clean. It had all the appliances we wanted, and unusually a great flowing shower! The welcome pack was well chosen and much appreciated. The location was well placed for the area's visitor attractions we planned to see. The build standard of the cottage was very good, as was the furniture and decor throughout. Someone did a great job! With sheep on one side and cows on the other, it was the most restful week we have had in ages. Well done, and thanks to all who made it so....!
"We had a great time and the only thing we would have like to see were some steppingstones from the cottage to the little sitting picnic area as some of us had mobility issues and the granite prove challenging for us."
We must mention how friendly everyone was wherever we went and also how Scotland’s tourist attractions have adapted to people with disabilities and laid on fantastic provisions to enable us to be part of the attractions and everyone involved did it with kindness and sense of humour. The cottage welcoming pack was unbelievable and out did many 4 & 5 star hotels we have stayed at plus everything was of the best quality in the furnishing within the cottage. Anyone can be assured of a great place, great provisions and many attractions in the area if they book this cottage.
"Had an absolutely fantastic week staying at the Birds Nest cottage."
The cottage is in a superb location in the Scottish borders, if you're looking to get away from it all then you can't do any better than here. Surrounded by countryside with beautiful views it's the perfect place to escape to and also a good base to explore the surrounding region. The cottage itself was ideal for our family of 4, it's finished to a really high standard and has everything you need for your stay. It has a modern interior but still maintains that cosy cottage feel with the log burner and beamed living room. The cottage is also in easy reach of lots of the little towns and villages in the borders, whilst there we were able to take in Kelso, Melrose, Hawick, Galashiels and of course Jedburgh. We also went a bit further afield to Edinburgh and the Holy Island which are only just over an hours drive away. Wendy and Willie were the perfect hosts, we received some lovely goodies on arrival which were much appreciated and were on hand should we have needed them during the week. We loved our stay and can't recommend this cottage highly enough.
"The welcome of owner was very good and made us feel at home."
The property was very well presented and showed that they genuinely cared about the service they were trying to offer. 5 stars!
Cosy but modern with everything you could need and more. Comfy beds, lovely welcome pack. Wendy and Willie were welcoming but unobtrusive hosts, cottage is in a quiet and very rural farm location yet close enough to Jedburgh and other amenities to not feel isolated. Wi-fi is fast and phone signal good. We found out that the bigger Falla Farmhouse is also available to rent so great for bigger groups. We will definitely return as there is so much to do in the area and Birds Nest is a great base for that.
"The location is wonderful for anyone wanting a peaceful and relaxing holiday."
The views around the cottage are stunning with only the restful sounds of birds and sheep. The owners are very helpful and welcoming. We enjoyed a wonderful week.
"The location of the cottage with county side and views all around, lovely welcome pack and hosts."
"Beautiful cottage, quality furnished, very comfortable."
Beds particularly comfy. Excellent wood burner. Lovely welcoming pack on arrival, much appreciated. Owners very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Went the ‘extra mile’ to make our holiday stay special. Peaceful, quiet, scenic setting, lovely surroundings. Very restful. Plenty of interesting places to see and visit within short driving distance. Highly recommend this beautiful holiday cottage and hope to return soon.
"Birds nest cottage was stunning as was the surrounding scenery, Wendy & Willie were excellent hosts, nothing too much trouble for them."
There was a huge welcome pack waiting for us. Cottage very clean and comfortable, everything you needed was in the cottage. Also Wendy & Willie took us on a tour of their farm on the quad bikes. Great location for going out and about, some lovely places to visit. I would highly recommend this cottage to people
"We have just returned from spending a week at Birds Nest cottage."
Only one world describes both the cottage and the surrounding countryside - stunning!! The cottage was immaculately and beautifully presented and lacked nothing. There was an extremely generous welcome pack provided which was very much appreciated. While the property was situated on the owner's working farm it's actual location provided privacy and there was a lovely garden to the side with stunning views over the surrounding hills and fields. It was lovely watching the sheep and lambs as well as hares and a variety of birds including pheasants and partridges from our cottage window. We visited Kelso, Jedburgh and Melrose where there were a variety of cafes, shops and a supermarket while Edinburgh and Newcastle were within easy reach. Thank you Wendy and Willie for a fabulous week.
"WOW WOW WOW Reading the welcome card which mentioned that this was a new venture for Wendy and her family; this was also a new venture for both of us; having had a touring caravan for 35 years, we decided to change direction, sell the van and embark on renting cottages for future holidays– Birds Nest was our first cottage and there is no doubt, this has set the bench mark and will be a hard act to follow."
Our standards are high, and once we entered the cottage, we both felt overwhelmed, at not only the presentation in front of us, but the most amazing welcome pack – nothing had been left to chance, fruit, flowers, bacon, eggs, bread, you name it, Wendy had delivered beyond all expectations – notwithstanding the homemade cookies. We both loved the layout of the inside of Birds Nest, and the outside, with amazing views and fabulous wildlife was just what we were looking for – we enjoyed, Oyster Catcher, a Field Fare, a hare complete with young (which we watched mum feeding and bathing) various birds on the bird feeder, and lots of other wonderful countryside treats of course we must for not get the lambs, who entertained us with their lovely innocent child like behavior. This is a lovely cottage set in a breathtaking location which gives you seclusion, but also inclusion into the presence of the countryside Wendy, thank you for making out first holiday cottage break, so magical Roger and Mary - May 2019
"Bird's Nest Cottage is in a quiet and peaceful location surrounded by beautiful countryside."
The cottage is in excellent condition and is most comfortable. Wendy gave us a warm and friendly welcome. We had a most enjoyable week watching the sheep with their new lambs and a variety of birds as well as exploring the Borders.. We are happy to recommend Bird's Nest Cottage. Mr and Mrs Bell, Glasgow
"Very impressed with accommodation and location."
Ideal for 4 persons, a very comfortable and quiet location on the edge of a working farm. The owners have thought of everything possible to make your stay more enjoyable.
"This beautiful cottage is really exceptional, set in the middle of a working farm but feeling isolated, so peaceful and quiet."
It is very very well appointed, being warm, cosy and comfortable. The owners are great providing us with everything we needed and the welcome pack was absolutely fantastic and well appreciated, thank you. The wildlife is abundant and included deer, badgers, hares and rabbits and a friendly woodpecker who visited the feeders daily. During the week we visited Edinburgh,Berwick, Bamburgh Castle, Hadrians wall, Hexham, Kelso Jedburgh, and Melrose, but it was always lovely to return to our little cottage and log burner.. highlight of the week for us was the tour of the farm provided by the owners, it was so interesting. This was truly an exceptional holiday that we will always remember and hopefully return to soon.
