  • "The listing for this cottage said it had a hot tub although this was true it did not work and we did contact the caretaker who did sent someone out but it could not be fixed."

The cottage was very clean, the comfort of the cottage was generally good except for the towels rail in one of the bathrooms which did not work so was very chilly. Although most of the cottage was well maintained the hot tub was not and the owner could not be contacted by us or Sykes, despite this being a deciding factor when we booked.

Kim was always available if you needed anything. The village has two very nice pubs serving good food, the village shop serves an array of goodies and there are plenty of options for dog walks right on your door step. Highly Recommend.

  • "What a fabulous place."

Set in a quiet little village with a couple of pubs(White Swan is highly recommend) and a very well stocked village shop. The house is so well laid out and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with all the things you might need to prepare and cook meals. We have had a fabulous week and it was so nice to get back on a rainy day shut the door and light the wood burner. From the outside pictures it looks quite small but it is very spacious inside with plenty of room for six adults. Would highly recommend this house and hope to be back again at some point.

All the facilities at the cottage and the size of rooms were also lovely. Only comment on maintenance. The following are not working; the cooker extractor, the vent extractor in the back bedroom en-suite and the bath tap dripping in upstair bathroom. This did not impair our holiday, however these small items should be fixed as the back bathroom needs airing as moisture can't escape. The leaking tap in top bathroom is just a cost to the owner. The range cooker is great, but kitchen smells when cooking. I opened the window but still can be fixed. Would I rent this again... yes we loved the location and house all the same.

  • "Disappointed in the upkeep of the cottage."

We found the kitchen in need of a deep clean. The cooker hood didn’t work. This was mentioned in a previous feedback post and it should have been repaired. The cooker is covered in grease as are the utensils and hooks next to the cooker. The smoke alarms were non existent in the living room where it has been removed and the wires are hanging down. The one in the dining room was hanging off the ceiling. Is this even legal? Shouldn’t the cottage have working alarms to get approved?? There was no instructions for the cooker and I could have not get the smallest oven to work. The fridge had a smell and needs a deep clean. No welcome pack which considering how expensive this cottage I would have expected something. No tea towel in the kitchen. No extra bin bags. I don’t expect to have to buy them so I can empty the bin more than once a week! In the downstairs bedroom, off the dining room, the bathroom extractor didn’t work. The bath smelled disgusting and the drain seemed blocked as the shower filled with water and drain away as it should. I booked for 6 adults but was only left towels for 5. Only one set left in the nook. Luckily I’d brought a towel with me. Upstairs the shower seals were black with mould at the bottom. Very off putting. The shower didn’t drain properly either. I was worried it would overflow the tray! There is no plug in the sink. My husband had to use an aerosol can lid to be able to shave. This is surely a basic requirement! The bath taps dripped constantly. The soap left for us was almost empty. No other toiletries left. The garden was big but the tables hadn’t been wiped The garden furniture was dirty and filled with leaves under the cushions. The cushions were covered in bird poop which had obviously been there for some time. We were very lucky to have such a sunny week and wanted to be in the garden as much as we could. There was no umbrella to give some shade. Again I would have expected this as standard. I booked this cottage for a family trip to celebrate my husband’s big birthday and spent more than I would normally. I’m disappointed that this cottage has not been kept in good condition. The pubs in the village are nice. A 5 minute walk will take you to the shop and first pub. The food was good but we had to sit in the bar with the dogs and it’s a bit tired. It’s a good 9 minute walk to the Black Bull. The food there was great and the surrounding were very nice. Beautiful part of the world to stay and we enjoyed our holiday

  • "We had a lovely time here; the area is beautiful and we were lucky with the weather."

The property however is just a bit tired with the need of a refresh and update. Disappointed with the cleaning with bits of food left on utensils and plates. The cooker hood didn’t work which meant the smoke alarm in the dining room going off when anything was grilled. It’s obviously been like that for a while as the smoke alarm is hanging off the ceiling probably due to someone whacking it with a towel to try and get it to stop. A mismash of glasses and a rubbish corkscrew. The towel rail and the extractor in the double downstairs bathroom didn’t work and sadly, it wasn’t until we removed the bedding from the downstairs double bedroom to find no mattress protector and a very stained mattress – yuk. One of the sofa’s legs came off when we tried to access the electric plugs, I did bring a few items to the attention of the owners by WhatsApp but they didn’t bother responding. Decided to book elsewhere for next year and will not be returning.

  • "Well where do I start."

Booked for Xmas 2022 in November 2021. The description is very inaccurate. I flagged this with skyes and they said it would be updated. Driveway for 1 car. Any others have to park across the road at the village hall. Upstairs bathroom has 3 broken tiles around the bath that is inset. The garden needs a good clean, so slippy from algae on patio. Hot tub was very dirty, all bits in the bottom, so only used once. Also needs painting. The garden needs a good tidy up and some attention. No blinds or curtains in dining room but got blind rail. No welcome pack as advertised Sofa had a broken leg so in the end we had to remove all feet off the sofa. Stairgate on bottom step is dangerous. No where to put your foot apart from standing on it. Advertised as 2 x fridge/freezer. There isn't. There's only 1 fridge freezer. The fridge manages to freeze everything even on the lowest temperature. The washing machine bleeps the while time through the cycle. Dishwasher doesn't wash properly. Read reviews from last year saying armchair has broken leg is now in dining room, which yes it is, you can see the leg is broken. No full sets of crockery. A few of each from a set. Reported a leak in dining room that got worse throughout the week. Was reported to owner. After returning home I get an email saying owner has reported this as dog urine. Which it absolutely is not. And also apparently dogs had scratched the door, which the dogs have never done, they were never left on there own. I feel like the owner is just trying to pass damages on. I had many concerns from other reviews before arriving. Sykes assured me multiple that would all be rectified but unfortunately not. We travelled 6.5 hours to get there. Would not return. While place needs a good clean and refreshing up. Cobwebs on ceiling and black dust on light fittings

Hi There We do send a welcome email to all guests that advise of the parking layout prior to arrival, apologies that you hadn’t seen this for any inconvenience caused. There is a cracked tile in the bathroom, this is purely cosmetic, we do have plans to replace this on our next maintenance visit. The garden, hot tub and patio were clean prior to your arrival but unfortunately your booking took place when we had torrential rain which then took its toll on the outside of the property. We are very sorry, we don’t know what happened to the sofa, to our knowledge there was no issue prior to your stay, we placed a temporary fix and is fine to use as long as no one moves the sofa but we are due to have this resolved completely soon. We did notify Sykes that we now only have one fridge/freezer, However it is a very large American style fridge/freezer which can store a lot of food, we are sorry that this wasn’t amended prior to your stay and have ensured this has been changed. There was a broken leg on an armchair but this was removed prior to your arrival so is no longer a concern. You originally contacted us to say that you believed that there was dog urine as apposed to a leak and as the issue hadn’t come back, we assumed this to be correct, we later discovered that there was a fault with the dishwasher causing the leak we are very sorry that sykes had contacted you as we were initially logging it whilst we looked to make the repairs. We wished you would have mentioned these issues on your booking as some could have been easily rectified as we are always on call to attend if anyone needs assistance. Overall, we do hope you managed to enjoy your time away. Kind regards. Property Owner

We had a fantastic time and the cottage was everything you could wish for. The only thing was the oven door was broken when we arrived and the Hoover didn't work. As there was no WI-FI and no phone signal we could not get in touch with the owners. Lowick is situated in a fantastic area, and there was plenty to do and see. The 2 pubs were very welcoming to us and the 3 dogs, and the village shop was very well stocked. All in all, one of the best holidays we've had. Highly recommend this cottage. The hot tub was fab! Jane

Hi There, Thank you for your feedback, we're glad to hear you enjoyed your time with us. Apologies you had some issues with the oven and hoover, these have been attended to. We do have WI-FI at the property, you could have potentially been trying to connect to the rooter when it's the booster you need to log onto. We have updated our welcome pack to note this for future guests. Phone signal can be a little poor in he town itself but we provide all of our details to the guests to get in touch with us directly if there are any issues, it may just be a case of finding the correct spot to stand in depending on your network. Thanks again for staying with us! We hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

  • "We were so looking forward to staying in this lovely cottage, but we were disappointed to find that after a nine and half hour journey, the owners had not even left any milk to at least make a cup of tea, so we popped up to the nice little local shop."

So no welcome pack. The cleaning was not up to a high standard especially the kitchen, where we found dirty plates and crumbs in the cutlery drawer. We had to wipe down all surfaces, wash cutlery, crockery and cups before we used them. We tried to ring the owners who did not get back to us after leaving a message on their answering machine. There are other issues which need to be addressed and the owners have been made aware of them. We did not let this spoil our holiday. So many places to visit, such a fantastic area to visit. The cottage layout was fabulous and well thought out, but is not suitable for disabled people as there are steps everywhere in the cottage. We loved the little lights on the ceiling which made you feel you were sleeping under the stars. With some attention to the cleaning and maintenance as necessary this cottage could be 5 stars.

Thank you for your feedback, we wished you would have contacted us during your booking as we could have rectified some of the issues. We are glad that you still enjoyed your time away. We have made some improvements following your stay and hope you will visit us again soon. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was great for what we wanted."

Three en suite bedrooms were perfect. Note that if you have small children the bedrooms are at three ends of the house; perfect for us, a teen and a parent. Some of the comments are a little unfair. There’s a couple of things that need updating (the blinds everywhere and I’d probably replace the carpet in the dining room with something a bit more practical for dogs, oh and a new frying pan that sits straight), and although the outside space isn’t enormous the hot tub area is gated and is fine for sitting out. We exercised our dogs on the beaches so when we came back they were generally tired. It is fully enclosed. Lovely village and there is definitely a village store! Black Bull Inn is excellent. If you’re cooking in the cottage there’s a Rangemaster oven. If the bottom tight ring doesn’t work try a different one. The pans were fine. The faff of the hot tub put us off using it. Even trying to get the ph levels right was a pain, but if you know what you need to do it’s nice enough.

  • "Your General Feedback Would you like to provide feedback about the holiday property?"

This will be shared with the property owner. The cottage was not clean at all. For the price of it, it was quite ‘cheap’ curtain poles moved when you closed curtains and blinds were very cheap indeed. Shower in downstairs en-suite would not sit in holder so had to use arm to hold it over you and the shower upstairs clearly needed to have the drain unblocked as within seconds standing in water that wasn’t draining as quick as it should. The outside space was not very big and certainly would not take five dogs which it is advertised as taking. We found large shards of broken glass in the lounge which again clearly a sign that it had not been cleaned properly before our arrival. We did speak direct with owner who was quick to reply but to be honest we would have been calling them every day so we just wrote the whole holiday off. She did give us access to the garden shed and owners cupboard so we could get mop and bucket etc….. even that needed cleaning before use! The cottage was ‘tired’ and could do with a lick in paint in most places. Garden shed literally falling to pieces exposing nails etc. we never used the hot tub as given the state of the rest of the place wouldn’t risk it. There is no BBQ as advertised. The owner did say that they have asked for this to be amended on the advert but it hasn’t been. This cottage is well over priced!!

Apologies you had issues during your stay. We wished you would have contacted us again as we can only be aware of problems if people notify us. We have now made some great improvements to Lindisfarne Cottage and hope you would consider coming for another visit. Property Owner

It was exceptional in having three en-suite bedrooms. A chair for the smaller room’s bathroom would help guests with mobility difficulties. It’s a good base for visiting Northumberland. As previously observed, the cottage has off street parking for one car; for the other two cars off street parking is immediately across the road. There was no welcome pack. A pint of milk and small jar of coffee and tea bags would have been helpful. The corner shop was a good resource with a helpful owner. There are two good village pubs for eating out. An audit of all appliances could be helpful so that problems with them could be spotted in advance.

  • "Having stayed at the property before I am disappointed to find that the previous high standards have fallen."

My impression is the owners have lost interest in the property and have even ignored previously reported problems. In the downstairs double the tv doesn't work and has no remote, the heated towel rail in the ensuite was not working- had to leave bathroom door open otherwise freezing. The heater thermostat in same bedroom does not work - just full blast until you turn off. Had to tour whole house on arrival and work out how to switch each heater on other than the lounge. No welcome pack of any sort. Some kitchen equipment like wine glasses are inadequate and have not been replaced- i.e. 2 wine glasses for a 3 bed property. Corkscrew rubbish. Some pans still do not work with the induction hob etc despite previous complaints. Move your shoes sideways on the carpets and see the enormous bunches of dog hairs that form - cleaning looks to be a quick rush-job. Broken blinds in dining room were broken 2 years ago. Armchair from lounge with broken leg two years ago now moved into dining room - still with a broken leg. Visitors required to learn how to adjust the hot-tub chemicals on a daily basis. Property description is out of date - i.e. there is no longer a shop in Lowick - conversely there is no longer a pond in the front garden to worry about. On balance I will be looking for another property next time I holiday in the area.

As a former B&B the layout of the rooms works well with children in their 20's, with young children, as a parent I would have felt too separated. The bedrooms are fantastic, the ground floor king was just like sleeping under the stars! We txt the owners about the TV in the room by the hot tub not working, the main oven not working and issues with the hot tub. • "Great location and house was exactly as listed."

Highly cleaned and felt safe in the current situation with extra hand sanitiser. Good village shop and the mobile fish and chip van was a welcome treat after a day of hill walking!

We were a party of 4, property can take more but the hot tub can't. Minor issues that overall did not affect our very enjoyable break.

  • "Nice spacious cottage, love the hot tub although you struggle to fit 4 people in it."

Needs some maintenance in various areas, blinds coming off windows, cobwebs everywhere, coffee maker had mould in it as it hadn’t been emptied for a while. Needs a new hose in the garden as it’s as leaky as a sieve and you need it to fill the hot tub up. All the large pans in the kitchen are not induction pans and need to be moved from the cottage and replaced with new ones. It’s hard to cook for 6 people with only small pots and pans. Beds and shower are all huge and water is really hot. Village shop lovely. We didn’t try the pubs sadly due to virus risks. All in all a good cottage with a secure garden for the dogs. Beware some of the neighbours, one complained we were blocking the drive with two cars when we first arrived to unload even through they could easily get past, they made a real scene about they’d have to drive on private property then. Not a great start to the week. Would take much to perk this up and make it better, just some maintenance and TLC.

Lindesfarne cottage is very comfortable clean and a real gem the owners left a welcome pack which was a nice thought the hot tub was a real bonus after walking the northumbria countryside there was everything you needed there including bathrobes which was a nice gesture the only problem we had was the parking you cannot get more than one car on the drive but you can park opposite in the village hall with no problem we had such a lovely time we will be booking the cottage again in the near future

Comfortable beds great to have a super king size bed nice touches such as the starlight ceiling in the bedroom next to the hot tub.Great Wi Fi.I wish to point out that the stair gate on the step at the bottom of the stairs made it very difficult for us to go up the stairs and served no purpose as there was no gate attached this is meant to be a helpful gesture. We went to the Black Bull on our first evening the food cooked and presented beautifully but the portions were more like I would expect a starter be.I don’t eat huge meals but this left me feeling hungry.Great fish

  • "The cottage was fabulous!"

Comfortable with a lovely atmosphere. The 3 bedrooms, all ensuite, were really nice and one led out to the hot tub. The kitchen was well equipped and spacious and as we were 6 women all working together it worked well! The only slight problem was the parking. The information on the site implied there were 3 parking spaces but there really wasn't room for 3 cars. Unfortunately 2 neighbour's knocked on the door to complain although one was very helpful advising us where to park. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would stay again.

We had a very warm welcome from the people of Lowick, those in the shop, the church, the Black Bull pub and the neighbours + a ‘welcome pack’ of local produce on our arrival. The courtyard garden and all the lovely beaches in the region were ideal for our dogs.

  • "Fabulously appointed cottage with excellent furniture, fittings and fixtures."

The bathrooms are very well appointed with very good, powerful showers. The kitchen is fabulous, and we even managed to work the electric cooker; the two fridge freezers were very handy as we had a considerable amount of food and drink with us. The livingroom is very comfortable but unfortunately, due to the intermittent wifi coverage we couldn't really get the smart tv to work but there is Netflix so always had plenty to watch. The bedrooms are fantastic, good decoration, good flat screen tvs, comfortable beds and the downstairs king room has an amazing star lit ceiling. It was great having the back garden and we enjoyed sitting out with the chiminea lit. The hot tub was a fun extra but unfortunately, it was too chlorinated for me as i have very sensitive skin so couldn't use it again after the first night. We found it difficult to get anything but very patchy phone and wifi reception. We would definitely book to stay here again.
