To the west of the village lies Mitford Hall, once home to the famous Mitford sisters and the village is also home to one of the oldest cricket clubs in Northumberland. The busy market town of Morpeth is just over 2 miles away offering the remains of an historic castle, lovely parks, riverside walks, ancient architecture and churches and a bagpipe museum. Morpeth also has a swimming pool and golf club. Mitford is ideal for visiting surrounding attractions such as Druridge Bay to the east, with miles of golden sands, the vibrant city of Newcastle to the south, Alnwick to the north, with its castle and gardens and the National Trust's Wallington Hall to the west.
