  • "My wife and I spent 3 nights here at the beginning of August."

We found the appartment to be clean and had all that's required for a self-catering stay. It's well located for exploring the coast and countryside. We had some quibbles: entance from the street leads straight to the bottom of the stairs with no room to remove boots/shoes and coats, which could be an issue in bad weather for keeping the appartment clean [physically difficult to rectify]; access is by key in coded keybox, details of which were not provided, hairdressers had closed early, but pub staff phoned owner for the details [easy to correct!]; a coffee table would be a huge benefit when watching TV (which had Netflix). Parking was always available either directly outside the appartment or within a few car lengths. All in all, an enjoyable stay.

  • "Overall we would rate our stay at The Apartment as disappointing when compared to the many other properties we have booked via Sykes."

Whilst there was nothing significant that required immediate action, there were several ‘niggles’ that impacted the stay: 1. Stair banister rail very loose. 2. Absence of a ‘welcome pack’ - some coffee and half a dozen tea bags were made available! Additionally, a ‘welcome note’ or ‘information leaflet’ would have helped to understand how to obtain hot water, connect to wi-fi, etc. 3. 3-seater sofa uncomfortable due to significant sagging. 4. Bed linen and towels smelt musty. Some of the above remain outstanding despite these issues being referred to previously in the Visitors Book. Some suggested ‘nice to haves’ that could improve rating/feedback: A. Hand soap in bathroom. B. More than one toilet roll. C. The addition of a small coffee table. It is interesting to note that an accommodation for 2 has seating for 4! D. Somewhere to hang coats/jackets. Key collection details are incorrect as a key safe has been fitted adjacent to the front door. We only discovered this after following the instructions and visiting the pub opposite to seek access to keys.

Well stocked shop, great bakers, friendly pub all very close. Everything we needed in was reach of most tourist spots. BUT lots of little DIY jobs that needed serious attention by Amy eg. Stair handrail dangerously loose, loo seat and cistern loose, kitchen sink tap very loose, etc these need addressing then it would be perfect!!

I think if someone was 6ft or had a large dog they would struggle but for us it was perfect. Great position in a friendly village. The local pub opposite couldn't have been friendlier, the village shop next door well stocked and l can recommend a visit to the bakery.

  • "Very cosy apartment with the emphasis on small."

A lot of effort has gone into making it comfortable, clean and well equipped considering the space available, and it's a credit to the owner for the result. That said, not much space for muddy boots / outdoor cleanup, especially when considering it's dog friendly and that many guests will be walkers. For instance, cream / sand coloured carpet behind the front door / on the stairs was maybe an oversight, (with darker carpet in the bedroom?), and if you leave one pair of boots on the door mat you can't open the front door properly. It was a constant battle trying to keep the carpet clean. The siting of the bed has been mentioned in other reviews, and was a bit of an issue. Larger or taller folks may have a problem with that. I took for granted the location in a small rural village, at what turns out to be a very busy junction. I found the traffic noise marred my enjoyment of what is a lovely little apartment, with heavy vehicles passing late into the night and starting very early in a morning. These are niggles considering the cost, which to honest is very reasonable. Couple of good pubs with restaurants, couple of well stocked convenience shops and an excellent butcher, all within a minute or so walk. Great location as a springboard for day trips to all points of the compass.

    Reviewed by Mark4.4Feb 2024

  • "Very compact but the space has been used well for the most part."

The lounge area contains a three seater sofa & a large armchair plus a footstool but lacks a coffe table (or anywhere to put a drink) & there is nowhere to hang wet coats or put muddy boots. This could easily be fixed by cutting down on the seating as it is only meant for two people & there are only two dining chairs. Also the ubiquitous microwave takes up most of the food prep area in the kitchen although this is quite common in rental properties. The bedroom does have limited headroom at the top end of the bed as mentioned which means if you like to sit up in bed to read/ have a cup of tea, then you are going to be out of luck. Again there is an uneccessary chair in there that could make room for a second set of drawers as storage is quite limited. There were a couple of lightbulbs that had blown when I arrived but there were spares available although this should have been checked prior to arrival. The vacuum cleaner was also full when I came to use it. On the plus side the hot water for washing dishes was the best I have come across in over thirty years of holiday lets & was due to a separate water heater rather than the usual inadequate modern central heating boilers. Heating was also very good & adjustable rather than on a timer. Despite a few negatives I would be more than happy to stay there again & would reccommend it to others after pointing these out.

Good communication with owner. However description of property does not match what we experienced & website description does need updating. To start with the sofa was not the same as in the picture & it did not have a footstool. Instead there was a brown leather sofa which was extremely noisy when you sat on it and quite uncomfortable to say the least! There was no DVD player as described, no basic kitchen items such as washing up liquid, tea towels or dish clothes. Only one toilet roll was provided for the full 7 day stay and only 2 towels provided for showers (fortunately we had read previous reviews and took spare with us). We also had to wash the majority of the cups as these were dirty and had seen better days. It was a real shame really as location of the property, bed and shower were all good - it was just a few basic/lack of amenities & inaccurate descriptions that let it down.

Oh my god I really wish you had came and told me down stairs as I would of definitely gave you more toilet paper and I would of also made my cleaner go back in and clean for you if you were unhappy. As I updated the tv to a smart tv and all the apps to watch movies and films are all their. I will update this online. Also their was all cleaning products and washing up liquid in the cupboard in the bed room with all the cleaning products they are all together normally. I do like to leave washing up liquid under the sink to. As for the towels I would of happily washed them for you and gave you fresh but you didn’t ask! As for the sofa I am very sorry a previous client had broken the sofa and that was all I could get in a short space of time and I have a similar sofa to the picture on order but I am waiting for more decoration of the flat to be done before I take more photos and add online, I am very sorry you felt this way maybe popping down to tell me the problems so I can correct them before giving me a bad review.
