Alnwick 6 miles; Morpeth 13.5 miles.

The delightful village of Newton on the Moor is set in rural Northumberland, between Morpeth to the south and Alnwick to the north. The village has an excellent pub/restaurant, The Cook and Barker which serves good quality fare. It is just 6 miles from Alnwick, with its castle and garden, and features Europe's largest cascading water feature, an enormous tree house, a rose garden and an ornamental walled garden. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat. There is plenty to see and do near Newton-on-the Moor, including miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands. Brinkburn Priory is just a short drive away, a restored Augustinian priory in a most lovely setting beside the River Coquet. Just 10 minutes' drive to the west is the National Trust’s Cragside House and Gardens. Altogether an ideal location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
