  • "We were a group of four adults, and we all had a great time."

It was a Christmas booking and I had asked if we could take some decorations. Steve the owner said he was going to do that anyway and the place was magical with a big tree in the living room corner and lit garland over a bookcase etc. We took a few of our own as well. The apartment is very spacious and rambling but in a great way. Shower was very good and a great tub to soak in too. The kitchen was great and well kitted out but no dishwasher which was fine. Views across to the sea and old cottages , houses and the castle from a large window in the kitchen and a good-sized table for us all to eat around. The beds were huge and very very comfortable, and we slept well every night. The living room fronts Front Street and its many bars and restaurants and gets busy at weekends but as the bedrooms are high up it didn't disturb us. On arrival we had rather a lot of luggage and Steve asked his son to help us with the climb up the stairs which was a great help. Tynemouth was great and there were plenty of restaurants, bars, gift and clothes shops. We particularly liked Davanti Classico next to Tynemouth station. Their pizzas and steaks are freshly made and prepared and the portions and quality of the sauces and pasta dishes were amazing. Finally, I would like to thank Steve our host and his welcoming wife, and son for the attention and assistance they gave us. Nothing was too much trouble especially from Steve. Thanks very much from all four of us.

  • "Amazing apartment right in the heart of Tynemouth Perfect for nightlife, shops, bars and train station."

Loved the quirky layout! The view to sea from the kitchen balcony was beautiful both at night and day. Remember your binoculars Steve and Louise were lovely hosts, came to welcome us in and gave us the parking permits. They lived close by if we needed them but thankfully everything went well. We had a great time.

  • "The penthouse is spacious, comfortable and well equipped."

Boasting gorgeous views across the harbour and out to sea, it is located right in the heart of Tynemouth, with shops and cafes literally on the doorstep and the metro station with it's bustling weekend market only a five minute walk away. Steve, the owner, was on hand to welcome us and show us round the quirky, multi-level apartment when we arrived; he even ensured we found a good place to park just round the corner! We had a lovely stay and hope to return again. Perfect base for exploring Tynemouth and surrounding area.

  • "Attentive owner, lovely property, well situated, accurate listing."

However in retrospect we decided that just one combined bathroom toilet was not enough for 5 adults, especially as the occupant in the small bedroom had the choice of a long walk to the bathroom involving quite a few stairs or walking through one of the double rooms. Not ideal in the night! For four people this would be just perfect.

  • "Great location for everything but if you want peace and quiet it’s not for you!"

The property is single glazed and you can hear everything on the street below especially so at the weekends with the close proximity of bars etc……. Oh and the seagulls dancing on the roof at crack of dawn!! I would agree with previous reviews that it is looking tired and dated and it could do with another toilet when fully occupied with 6. The 3rd bedroom is tiny and just fits a kingsize bed in along with the slope of the ceiling it’s really only suitable for young children. We had to turn the mattresses on the beds and zip together as we had it as twins originally but they dipped in the middle and one of our granddaughters ended up sleeping face down in the gap with her sister rolling on top of her! The cleanliness was not to our standard, I know the owner had a private cleaning company in before us as they were away but it wasn’t great. There was a lot of mould in the shower all along the sealant edges and up the sides and the door seals …..so after a day of tolerating it both myself and my daughter in law set too and cleaned it up! A squirt of bleach wouldn’t go amiss either in the toilet as very stained! In the kitchen the microwave hadn’t been cleaned and was dirty inside and had grease splatters up the side from cooking on the hob next to it. ! We also had to clean the splash back from the hob as it was thick with grease from cooking and the toaster was covered in crumbs! There was also a dirty light switch in the kitchen. The cupboards are full of cleaning products they just need using! Plenty of cooking utensils, crockery etc. There are a lot of stairs in the property so not suitable for the less able bodied, our granddaughters loved the quirkiness of it though. Great views from the balcony and we were very comfortable. There is a parking permit for 1 car and you have to park in specified zones so you can’t see your car. Any other vehicles can usually find parking up near the station (harder at weekend) as it is predominantly parking permit zone area.

  • "The accommodation is excellent and Steve and his wife were amazing."

Sykes need to understand their properties more. I specifically asked if there was a lift and if not a lot of stairs as we have twin babies and a lot of stuff (I mean a LOT) I asked this before booking and was told no lift but a very small flight of stairs. This is not the case, and is quite misleading from Sykes as the the entrance is indeed one set of stairs, but then there is a LOT of stairs into the apartments and throughout. Thankfully Steve and his wife were lovely and helped take all our stuff up but Sykes need to know what they’re selling. This isn’t suitable for people with small children and a lot of stuff.

Towels and linen were very clean and beds were comfortable but we needed to wash the glasses and mugs before we used them. Overall the property is comfortable and homely, but starting to look tired and in need of a little updating in places.

  • "Location Location Location."

What a fabulous apartment in the heart of Tynemouth. Fabulous views of the sea and the abbey from the balcony. Steve met us on arrival and even carried our very heavy suitcase up the stairs. I’m sure he could have done with a glass of the Prosecco that he had kindly given us as a welcome gift. The apartment has a large kitchen, living room and 3 bedrooms all with king size beds. The 3rd bedroom is smaller as stated in the property description. I think it would be a bit of a squeeze for 2 adults but as a party of 5 it met our needs. The weather was fabulous so we spent most of our time on the balcony admiring the views. Steve was a really fabulous host. He answered any questions promptly. The welcome gift of milk tea coffee and Prosecco was a lovely gesture. As a group we have been coming to Tynemouth for the last 7 years. I think we have found our go to accommodation.
